30th Fighter Squadron cinematic series

Thank you for this re-release as I hadn't come across this work before. Quite superb and I think this sets a new standard. I love how you have incorporated views from both sides, both air and ground units and also the excellent use of camera angles and slow motion when the action gets down and dirty. Personally, I would have loved to see how the unit approached their airfield in preparation for landing and some nice camera angles of that would have rounded the sortie off superbly. Could have finished with a debrief using photo recon camera evidence of how successful a strike it was. Nevertheless, amongst the most enjoyable and exciting cinematic videos that I have seen.

Great job on finally completing this with voices! Though I must say, some of those Americans didnt sound very American ?

Thanks, it was about time...now the series feels complete and I can make peace with it.

Let's see if those immigrants lose their accent by the time part IV comes out ?

Jumped here from the previous thread in General Discussion.

I indeed have seen with your post above how voices were done.

For a campaign I think Gambit also used human voices.

I experimented text to speech software (Panopreter) which has the advantage that you can easily change the text, modify it and immediately have the sound  track, a very big flexibility. As you design the campaign and the various missions you can add additional speech, modify etc. The problem is that the voices even if we can have US and British, male and female voices. I would have loved Russian accent. The problem is that the tonalities are very limited, and do not sound very natural. Speed also can be varied but results are not good at all. There are much more sophisticated products but they are very expensive and I am not sure how good they are.

@IckyATLAS"Excellent video. It's a movie with all the ingredients in there. I wonder about the speech and dialogs. I mean the different voice recordings. How did you handle that aspect? Thanks again for sharing."

Thanks for asking! I have people from all continents except Asia (yet!) doing recordings for me. I send them scripts and they do their lines with different tones and pauses, send their package back to me and I do some cutting and merging. Sometimes a paragraph is combination of three versions of it.

All voices (and audio) are edited afterwards by Raptorattcker.

The video you commented was originally done with text-to-speech voices...listening to it now is almost embarassing.  Luckily @SCG_Ham_von_Boom or HvB contacted me and offered his voice for the project and after the second episode we've had many, many guys joining the project.

You are so right on the problems with the speech software...but they would be extremely useful with a little bit more natural sounding voices!

Next one is coming along nicely and will involve some spectacular low level formation flying, the series is also returning focus from the Tank Crew elements back to the aerial scenes.

Selfish bump, there were so many people involved in this series it deserves to reach some new people, who have joined the forum and might like some IL-2 Machinima ?
