Anyone else getting super slow download speeds? Would it be possible to post this at a different site?

(downloading Flatscreen Version)

EDIT: Disregard, it picked up speed now.

Thanks @drewm3i-VR!

Wonderful modpack! Thank you!

One small bug though, the nav lights for the Spitfire Mk.IXe are missing.

Are you sure? That's the one that I tested in the video. I also tested the FW 190 A3 and a few other planes and they had lights. What pack are you using? I was only able to test the vr packs because I play in vr exclusively.

Been super interested in seeing something like this!! I've given it a few tries in the quick mission builder and it seems like a pretty good start. Heres my two cents, hopefully don't ruffle too many feathers.

imo, it'd be better if the cloud mod was optional, I'm really not a fan of the reshade effects in there or the greysky effect, but then again I think the new cloud improvements we have coming to the game soon(tm) should make the clouds mod obsolete anyways.

Glad to see the weapon mod/tracer mod make its way in here, alongside cass' dispersion mod. absolutely essential. Does anyone remember cass' other .50 cal mod? his AP fix from that thread that got locked awhile ago, it adjusted the diameter of the bullet to create bigger holes for increased damage. I'd love to see that implemented into the mod for all AP ammo. One thing I really don't like is the bomb tweaks, bombs do plenty of damage if you actually hit or are close to your target. Should be kept separate from the much more essential HE/AP tweaks.

The retexture mods for the terrains are absolutely great, love them. The only thing there I wasn't a fan of was the winter trees, they have a strange ugly cell shading effect around them, and they revert back to the vanilla brown trees when you get close. Really not great. Everything else there was excellent though! I wish I'd been using some of these mods sooner.

Also finally, kept getting this error message in one of my quick missions:

image.png.9e9b51e2c2b5b83041bc7ca62ed4334f.png

There was another that popped up that looked pretty similar, but I didn't get a screencap of it. I think it also had something to do with the rus_45 shell. HE something maybe?

Again, really, really excited to see something like this as an all inclusive "upgrade pack" could be a big step forward for the game.

Best of luck with this!

Thanks for the feedback!

-As per the clouds and sky domes, I think most would agree that they greatly improve the experience. Perhaps I could make them optional, or you can simply delete the cloud files from the pack before activating it. The stock clouds are pretty decent, but the grey skies are far more realistic for Russian and NW Europe. If we ever get the Pacific, it would need a bluer sky.

-You can also simply delete the reshade files (I can get you a list if needed). I think for most vr users it really helps improve clarity and reduces ghosting.

-The weapons mod included here is far from complete and will be tweaked for sure. The error message you are seeing is related to the loading order of the mods. I will release a patch soon to fix this, but I'd need to know what version you're using.

-I personally prefer the winter trees, but again, you are free to tweak the pack by deleting them if you don't like them...orange trees on snow covered maps always bothered me personally as I think dead or green trees are much more realistic. Either way, for the time being the 2d trees really limit things even though they mostly look adequate.

I was using the VR performant version, and yes I would appreciate a list! I use a Lenovo Explorer and found the effects to be a bit too grainy (I think the fsr mod is the culprit there,) but then again I've also spent a looooot of time dialing in my game to get it just the way I like. Thank you friend.

And if I may be extra annoying, Would you be able to add links to the OP for the original mods? I wouldn't mind downloading a few of them separately.

Yeah, definitely in the Spit. I’m using the flat screen version as I don’t have a very headset. Maybe a missing file in that one?

IL-2 Enhanced Modpack for Online and Offline Play

This modpack has been created to address a number of the current shortcomings in IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles, particularly the damage and ballistics modeling, but also other glaring issues and exploits like the broken navigation lights and tracers which can be seen from miles away even in broad daylight. This modpack is in essence a tested collection of many individual mods made by community members with small additional tweaks of my own in some cases. It has been created with the idea for an invitation only multiplayer server in view, but works even better offline.

Please note, there are three variations of this modpack so be sure to download the correct version. The first iteration of the pack is intended for VR USERS WITH HIGH END MACHINES ONLY! There is also a more performant version for vr users as well as an additional version for flat-screeners with mid to high-end machines. The performant version does not really look much worse so most vr users will probably want to go for it.

This release is a work-in-progress and is a proof-of-concept. We are looking for feedback and are also happy to tweak the modpack as a result of your input.

This modpack includes the following:

Weapons and Ballistics
-Weapons and Tracers Mod by QB Rails
-Multicolored Tracers and Less Tracer Smoke by rieper_420
-Realistic Dispersion by ACG_Cass

Graphics
-Realistic Clouds VR 2 Grey Sky Version (or Version 15 Grey Sky in the flat screen version of the pack) by rowdyb00t
-Sun Size Correction by LizLemon
-4k Trees by VaSok and drewm3i (added them to all maps)
-Proper winter trees for winter maps by STOIKY and drewm3i (added them to all winter maps)
-Effects by meplanes1969 (improves effects and fixes the broken nav lights, but nav lights may need further tweaking)
-Muddy rivers for all autumn and spring maps (except Stalingrad) by drewm3i
-Short Grass and Field Crops Final version (high resolution short grass with flowers version for the high end vr and pc package, but low resolution version for the more performance oriented pack) by Off_Winters
-Historically Accurate Skins 4K by milktoast

Textures
-Rheinland Spring Enhanced by JamieDodger
-Rheinland Texture Mod by PicksKing
-Skin pack for all airfields buildings, 1944 - 1945 by MarcoPegase44
-Skins camonet and concrete for NW europe airfields by MarcoPegase44
-Kuban Texture Mod v1.1 by PicksKing
-Stalingrad Tex Mod (and Autumn version) by JamieDodger
-Moscow Autumn retexture by MayBug

VR Performance
-VREM 5.2 VR Enhancer by c6_lefuneste
-FSR upscaling mod with optimized presets included by drewm3i
-Fholger Universal VR Shader Mod added to modpack by drewm3i
-Ditherfix by LizLemon

Miscellaneous
-Camoflauge of the Wehrmacht by DetCord12B
-Correct Awards by CountZero
-Many objects for the desolate Rheinland and Arras maps made by Hamaha15 for mission builders including the Autobahn
-Template files for more populated Arras and Rheinland maps for mission builders by Hamaha15 included
-Stoopy's Interactive Playground Missions for Each WW2 Map

Download:

-VR version for high end pcs: https://www.mediafire.com/file/pruttpkksx3n5hz/IL-2_Enhanced_VR_For_High_End_Machines.zip/file

-Performant VR version: https://www.mediafire.com/file/6pokvs9iq7ws34i/IL-2_Enhanced_VR_Performant_Version.zip/file

-Flatscreen Version: https://www.mediafire.com/file/ttcoeqpysfax3el/IL-2_Enhanced_For_Midrange_to_High_End_Machines.zip/file

Installation
1. Download and install jsgme to create "MODS" folder.
2. Download files, extract, and place in mods folder.
3. Run jsgme and activate modpack into game.

This release is as has been said, a work-in-progress and will hopefully be refined, added to, and improved upon by fellow community members. I'm sure there will be patches to follow and other members begin using and testing this pack rigorously.

Cheers,

-drewm3i

Hello,

You can also add this mod to have the landing gear legs painted red on the Bf 109G14 and Bf109K4 which used C3 synthetic fuel at the end of 1944.

Excellent, however, I noticed that when playing the newest scripted campaign "Steel Birds" I got loads of Lua Script error messages.  I didn't see this with several other scripted campaigns or single missions that I tested.  You may want to have a look, otherwise wonderful MOD.  Thanks for putting it together.

I will get to this today if I can. You and @Mtnbiker1998 can simply deactivate the modpack, download QB Rails weapons mod here:

and drop the files into the appropriate folders and it should fix the error messages.

The reshade present and fsr mod both go in bin/game. I would recommend adjusting the sharpness in open_vrmod.cfg to somewhere between .3 and .1. I use a reverb g2 so it was made with that in mind. To an extent, sharpness helps compensate for lower resolution and if you are using a lower resolution headset, you may prefer the higher quality vr version.

It shouldn't be, but I will look into it. Are you sure that you the plane missing lights wasn't the spitfire vb? Because I experienced this too, while the ix had perfectly working dim lights.

Please note, I'm going to update this pack soon with a lot of fixes and such.

It is definitely the Mk.IX, I'm doing a PWCG campaign in it. The lights work fine when the modpack is removed. I'll try redownloading it when you update it.

Thanks for the hard work! It is an awesome collection of mods.

You're welcome! I will get it fixed. In the meantime, you could try to fix it by downloading this and simply overwriting the files in the pack, assuming you can find them:

If this doesn't work, you could also simply delete the navlight textures in the pack to revert to stock for now if it bothers you.

Sharpening does not compensate for anything, its a post processing filter. it can't magically create resolution when theres only so many pixels. this is true regardless of whether you're using an OG Vive or an 8k monitor. If you think it looks better than more power to you, but thats a preference thing. imo especially since your end goal is to create a cohesive modpack for use online, things like this should not be part of it to begin with. Same goes for reshade presets.

I'm not trying to come off as a hater, I really love the idea behind this project, and I'm hoping to be able to come to my group with a single mod and say "hey download this and it'll solve most of the games issues" But most of them aren't gonna want to dig through directories to remove stuff. KISS principle my man. texture/map improvements, weapons improvements. if people want to expand on that, then its much easier for them to add it then for everyone else to go digging through the files to remove things.

I agree. The next version will have multiple jsgme packages to activate for those who do not like certain things I chose like reshade. With the reverb g2, the universal vr shaders reshade mod is very nice to my eyes. I'll probably stick with the fsr and vr enhancer in the core pack though. Those values can always be tweaked for each individual pc. If you want to get it on this project, pm me and you are welcome to collaborate. Feedback and constructive criticism is very helpful for this WIP version.

Yup

Completely ruined my online experience is an understatement.

I wish the cumulonimbus weren't such a FPS hit.

Absolutely stunning. Guns worked. Beautiful clouds.

Was up at 30000ft diving in out clouds chasing 190s in the Jug.

Exceptional job to all the creators.

Took a great game to whole new level.

Only gripe is this weird shimmer around planes on cloudy maps and trees disappear underneath me on winter maps.

Also smoke seemed much lighter from damaged planes? Not sure if intended or not

Copying the files across did the trick and now they work again.

I do have a question though, did the distance the trees change from 2D to 3D change? For some reason mine pop in about 100m away from the plane. It is noticible in all seasons, but especially winter. It is quite distracting. I'm not sure if it is to do with the 4K trees mod? I've only tried it on the Rhineland map so far.

Unfortunately, I think this is a game engine limitation and has nothing to do with the mod. For some reason the dead trees are much more noticeable in this regard. I still personally prefer them to autumn trees on a winter map...

This can be fixed with a little artistic talent. There are three different ways that trees are drawn. Worst to best as you move closer. The trick would be to make sure that the trees_seta and setb are matching to the foilage.dds. Some don’t match up very well.

In the graphics folder, you have all the map folders. In each folder is a tree file. In that file you have tree_seta, setb and a foliage.dds. Those are what you want to tweak in gimp, photoshop ect. Also you have a forestcolor.dds file with in the carpet file which has the map tiles in it, that may need some tweaking as well. I’m out of town for the week so I wouldn’t be able to look into it.

Very nice. May I suggest adding the following?

  • The "Blind gunners" mod for less accurate gunners. Sorely needed in the game.
  • The FidelityFX SuperResolution for a free fps boost in VR (the AMD competitor for Nvidia DLSS vut works wonders in VR with any card, inlcuding Nvidia).

getting these errors in the flatscreen version (doesent crash the game; but keeps pausing it and alt tabbing me)

The first error i could get rid off by deleting it but the 2nd one is calling for a file that doesen't exist and it's hard-locking the game.

Probably has something to do with the new German AA truck that was added and the original mod author needs to fix it.

getting these errors in the flatscreen version (doesent crash the game; but keeps pausing it and alt tabbing me)

The first error i could get rid off by deleting it but the 2nd one is calling for a file that doesen't exist and it's hard-locking the game.

What campaign/mission are you trying to run? I oddly have been playing all night and haven't had a single crash with the 2nd version pack.
