Minglish!

Now those are two names I have not seen in a long time! :drinks:See if IL-2 GB had a lobby like Discord or TS, we could all be on there like the good 'ol days!

Fritze reporting for duty, I flew with Ming alot, we would destroy all kinds of shipping in our Betty bombers. I recognize some of the callsigns here, Salute. Would love to get in touch with Ming and the boys from back in the day.

Before I used my squad tag, yes, it was ElAurens.  I still use it here and there, and technically it's BlitzPig_ElAurens.

Thanks for remembering that.  I'm surprised actually.

Two here.

They like me making airfix models for them, painted in a variety of gaudy non-historical schemes, although the patterns are accurate. Pink, gold and red predominantly, with varied hues of blue and rlm colours included.

Really sad to see Bearcat is no longer with us, quite jarring news.

Time matches on.

The passion, energy and comradery from the original Il2 and UBI zoo forums and Hyperlobby were quite the experience! I doubt we will ever see a community like that ever again.

Great times for sure!

I flew with some old timers and some fresh faces Thursday and I suspect I will be around till death do us part. GB did a great job on the sim, sure it's not perfect but damn!

It's come a long way and I suspect I shall enjoy it for many more moons.

I love seeing the old names and familiar faces, brings a smile to my face. I may be older, but it still got it and love schooling these young up and comers online!

These kids will have pot bellies, be bald and have greying hair before they get the best of me!

Used fly as III/JG11_Kennel on Spits vs 109s. Loved it, no where near the standard I used to be at,but planning to get back there. It is going to take a while though, gotta upgrade all my hardware. So at the moment I'm everybody's victim but with persistence I will get there.

Loved the comradery and communication on Spits vs 109s, it was a lot of fun (plus I got to live out my childhood fantasy as a Dora pilot) ???

I thought I posted in here once...maybe not..part of getting old I guess.  Got the original IL2 in a PC gaming mag...then went on the addiction.  Used Westcoastphil for a while when playing in Hyperlobby, but got a little ribbing from who would be an eventual squaddy Tgd=Thunderbolt.  Changed my handle to Voxman, then flew in GreaterGreen when I finally got asked to join that squad.   Went on to the TUSA guys and flew all those great competitions and servers such as Spitsvs109s...and a few others that I can't remember.

Great days until about 2012 when my mom passed.  Stopped playing, missed the grand opening of BoS and all the modules until about 3 or 4 years ago.  Have been flying on and off, but mostly now getting up to speed on career mode.  Love this sim, but it does still have some issues with certain characteristics...I'm patient.

It is great to find some of the people I flew in the old IL-2 days (mainly @WarClouds server via HyperLobby). Here are some of you that I clearly remember:

There are other names that somewhat really rings the bell but I am just not 100% sure… after all, since my recent comeback, it was 11 years ago...

~S~

I  have been in 69th for a few years, was FS-Panp for 4 or 5 years  and BPO6_Panp before that

I've been around since day one and with the same username. Amazingly I'm still using the same MS FF Sidewinder II that I've had since the early 2000s. It has thousands of hours on it and has never faltered! Things here are FAR from what they were but it's good to know the community persists. Good luck to you all!

I flew with Crash and JG27 for a short while. I'm still using MSF2 .  Crash once found a website to replace some of the buttons that whore out. Extended the life a little long for a few of my sticks.

Hyperlobby my name was 53rd_Boppie (Had to change it cause I wasn't in the group) and eventually settled on il2fan

Wonder if anyone remembers me. Oh the memories, I will forever cherish them!

I remember flying in Spits vs 109s one night and there being a dude named Lord_Butter, something like that and he sounded just like Ozzy. It made me and my brother laugh so hard trying to request fighter cover from an old English guy who sounded like Ozzy.

I remember flying on the Warclouds server. There was an admin called "BlueLion", no idea what happened to him after the server closed.

Also, I remember another player who went by the name of (something similar to) "Fish6891" or "Fish9861" or "Fish1981" (think it was the first, maybe a reversal of his birthdate?), anyway, he was one of those players we all feared.

Even now, I remember ending up in his sights while I was RTB in a P47 razorback. I was absolutely battered, had no panels left in the cockpit, all the glass gone, engine smoking, vapour trailing, no hydraulics and eventually when just over the apron I got it on the deck and walked away. Fish had broken away about 500 metres short after the AA opened up, and I still remember his text comment "Boy that was great flying!"

Again, once Warlcouds ended, never saw him again :(

First got Il-2 in 2001. When on to play for many years on the Greatergreen server (my favorite), Birds of Prey and Spits vs 109.  A little Warclouds but I wasn't a fan of icons and GPS.  Joined TUSA and we flew many Competitions like GhostSkies and also individual matches with the French and Russians squads.  We were the only team to ever beat the Russians with ground targets as parts of the winning strategy (VK was not happy as we outplayed them on ground pounding as we forced them to low altitude fights with our lower attitude fighters).  I flew wing with guys like TUSA/Voxman, TUSA/Thunderbolt56, TUSA/Direwolf, TUSA/Pepper, TUSA/Kootenai, TUSA/GOZR, TUSA/Monguse (RIP), TUSA/Kalo, Pipper, TUSA/TOAD, TUSA/Gypsy, TUSA/Broman and others I cant remember at the moment.  Great times and it all carried over to this sim of course.  I don't fly very much anymore but I do support this sim and jump on Combat box now and then.  Great thread and good to see all the old regulars here posting from the good 'ol days. Take care all and hope to see your 6 someday.

TUSA/Gate

I used to watch you and Thunderbolt abuse the entire enemy team. Sometimes there were five, six planes chasing you two, and you would just chew them all up  and get away untouched. :salute:

You TUSA guys were one great bunch. Lot's of fun flying with you....against you, not so much.?

Greatergreen was my first full real server and remained my favorite as well. I spent a lot of time in there.

Good old times.

Sadly,

Aristo found out he had stage 4 bladder cancer less than a month ago and 2 nights ago he took a turn for the worst and is on a ventilator and meds to keep his blood pressure up. Short a miracle, he won't be with us much longer. John was my friend and I shall miss him very much.

Always been Furbs, though it was Furbs_109 for a long time, started online flying with 62 squadron, then realized I liked flying blue more and started my own sqd called "Blackhearts"

Flew every version of Il2 right from the leaked beta, did some beta testing with Ian Boys on one of the add-ons.

Was in the crowd at the Birmingham computer show, when Oleg announced the Battle of Britain sim :)

Had many run-ins with mods on various forums for Il2 and the sim that never happened by what's his name? Got a few bans here and there. :)
