i participated in some betas (some other games) and yes playing and testing is huge difference, actually testing takes away that excitement of novelty and joy of finished product.

That's why i no more participate in betas, anyway thanks all testers out there

That is fare comment, however, the whole pre-order founders thing is really about helping to develop the game and as such we are all testers and should expect problems, those who cannot handle that should only buy the finished game, by then it really should have no issues as we will have thoroughly tested everything.

As far as I know, 3.001 IS the finished release of Kuban, so yeah - I'm all for letting them test this thoroughly

Aside from being an absolutely asinine comment, it is also false. Do not confuse closed or open commercial "beta participation" with Q&A testing. They are very different beasts, have entirely different purposes and the latter actually require some measure of skill and professionalism from the testers.

That's fair... But patch 3.001 is special. The Campaign being replaced for Career is an overhaul. There's been several comments that have suggested that they really had to pull some of the plumbing up dealing with Career and Co-op. Making big changes like that doesn't just affect people who pre-ordered but also Battle of Stalingrad and Moscow owners.

It is hard knowing some folk have access to *new* stuff but the reality really isnt like that.

 

Much of the time (in any alpha/beta) its all about finding an issue, seeing if that issue has already been addressed, trying to replicate the issue (which can be hellish if one cant, or worse if one can but others cant replicate)

 

Even if one gets ones hands on new stuff, say a gun in an fps, it might not be complete, might not have sfx, might not be fully funtional or even useable without causing a ctd etc etc. If it can be broken it often will be.

 

Its uncommon to get a shiney new thing that just works and is complete.

 

In the main the tester often only sees the proper end result when everyone else does.

 

Even if they do then it means the game/patch's full release is imminent and a real rush/crunch is on to fully focus on only one or two final blockers.

 

There's usually very little *fun* although the experience can be interesting.
