We tried with the coop example mission that comes with Il-2 without changing it. Can't get more basic than that I would think.

However, I've noticed since something else odd. As soon as I try to host, my comms starts breaking up. My wingman looked at my comms quality in TS and noticed I started getting EXTREME packet loss as soon as the server is up. When he hosted, there was no loss on his part, but just as he froze trying to connect to my server, I froze trying to connect to his. This issue also appeared roughly around the time I upgraded my PC and replaced the motherboard and therefore the LAN. Although it works perfectly in literally a dozen other games I play online, and many of which I have hosted, it's not worked in Il-2 since the upgrade.

Also, since one of the updates it is not uncommon for Il-2 to fail to load when I start it. I may get a black screen, or the loading screen may partially appear, or it may appear normally but the red loading bar will stop at some point and never move. I have to ctrl-alt-del to task mgr and kill a "not responding" exe.

Bottom line is I have decided to try reinstallation, but I'm in the middle of the Kuban scripted campaign and don't want to lose my progress. Is there a guide as to how to uninstall and scrub the PC settings without losing my mission progress? If there is some issue with the LAN driver I want it cleared out, but I'm 50% through Kuban's and don't want to start it over.

I will add I use it on Steam and I've done the file validation bit...every time I run it after running Il-2 I get at least one file failed to validate and will be reaquired. Not sure what file(s) though. It doesn't say.

Just tried that example mission, and it works when I host it, one client can connect and load the mission, occupy an a/c and go Ready and end up in cockpit ...

Ok, so I went and uninstalled and reinstalled (on a different drive) and found how to move my campaign progress over. The start up issues are gone, and after a cable reset the packet loss issues with comms once server hosting begins is also corrected. In short, almost everything is working better. Almost.

Still get nowhere with hosting, though. If I don't set a quorum for other users to join, I can pick a plane, get in the cockpit and fly. So the mission DOES work, but those attempting to connect hang. Or I hang if I try. I've not seen anyone else host a coop server that wasn't pw-protected, though, so I've been unable to test join anyone else's but my friend's, but I have joined DF servers that aren't pw-protected. As I wouldn't believe that coop and DF use different network ports, I'm again at an impasse.

JediMaster, PM me and let’s set up a time to try each other’s coop missions (I, too, never see anyone else’s coop servers that aren’t password protected). We can at least determine if our machines can correctly host coops. I live in Los Angeles and we can use Discord or Teamspeak to troubleshoot. ?

In the latest windows update, the firewall behaves incorrectly in some cases, try allowing the IL-2 process in the firewall

Just to pass on information. I went into Windows 10 and allowed IL-2 in the firewall. If you are hosting a mission coop/dogfight and other players are not able to join your server, check your firewall setting for IL-2. This fixed the issue for me.

Thanks @-DED-Rapidus

If you mean the main il-2.exe, I have that allowed and it's been there for years.

Did you see the clients freezing up so they needed to ctrl-alt-del to kill it when they tried to join, or were they simply unable to connect but otherwise ok?

The death penatly timer isn't triggered when a pilot gets captured. Also the re flight timer doesn't trigger when being captured.

That leads to captured pilots can refly again right away. While pilots that finished the mission in their own teritory will wait until the re flight timer is over, and pilots that died have to wait for the death penalty timer to be over.

Maybe there is a possibility that we can have seperate timers for being captured and being dead? I mean death is terminal whilst capture has the possibility to escape or get exchanged...If we had sepetrate timers for these events it would make the missions more divers...

Thank you for your answer, the problem is clear and discussed.

I also noticed that the refly penalty timer isn't working as it is supposed to be. If you have it set to 5min, then you only have to wait for the reflight penalty timer to pass when you finish mission during that first 5 min of your flight. After that 5 min the reflight penalty has no effect anymore.

Hi Rapidus, I am not worried that you forget my report. The re flight penalty timer is a different timer than the death penatly timer. And it turns out to not work as it is supossed to be.

You'd think the engines were loud enough without sounding like AA.

Sounds like the timing is off.  Try advancing it.

Check that the cylinders aren't getting too much fuel.  Lower your mixture.

Is the distributor cap damaged or cracked?  Try replacing it.

Replace the spark plug wires.

@=LG=Kathon, the problem is that the specified modifications in "Available Mods" do not have priority over the list of "WeaponMods"? do I understand the problem correctly?

@-DED-Rapidus in general yes.

The Available Mods filter makes modification enabled or disabled.

WeaponMods makes modification checked or unchecked.

So it should be possible to make modification checked and disabled so player can't uncheck it. But because of the bug every check modification (in WeaponMods) is automatically enabled regardless of the Available Mods filter.

In general Available Mods filter is useless because even if it's empty (you would expect no modification is enabled) all modification can be enabled if WeaponMods is configured properly.

@=LG=Kathon, I'm sorry, but activating the mod takes priority over filters, if the author of the mission so intended, then this is his right.

There is a bug with the missing tank icon where enemy tank is attacking the targets camp in the multiplayer - noticed on:

yesterday:

I have 2 videos cut and zipped to save the size, I made the Ju-52 paradroop and notice blue tank shooting at camp, where there are no icons on the map - this is one of many when I see that this time manage to make video, when coming to drop, switch to map, you can see on the video enemy plane icon, there was one, but there is no tank icon... and then next video is after drop when he tried to shoot me...

@315_R2r, with these questions, you need to contact the server holders, how they configured the display (NOICON for example on the tank) it will be.

We don't use that NOICON thing.

Edit: and isn't the NOICON thing supposed to control only if the icon is visible or not when the server sets icons on? Or does it also control whether the spawns show that there's an enemy tank?

@LLv34_Temuri, there is another option when the icon disappears - a broken mechanism, such as an engine.

I would bet that the tank was perfectly ok - did not see the icon on the way to the camp, and trust me, in Ju-52 it is quite a while...

And it is not the first time I see that.

I could check the track for that as well  - but the track from previous version do not open in the new version of the game :(

I understand but this design makes bugs I was writing about. If the solution is wrong then there are bugs.

In the current version where mod takes priority over filters:

1. Mods are available despite configuration of the filter => it's a bug (filter is useless)

2. You can't setup mod which is selected and disabled (locked) at the same time so player can't unselect it => it's a bug

In the version where mod doesn't takes priority over filters:

1. No bugs as above.

Brief description: DServer.exe locks up with Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error

@SAS_Storebror, please look at the logs of the dserver in the \l2\bin folder, maybe it crashes on a certain mission?

We only have three missions in rotation and all three of them have been running successfully with the latest version endless times.

Nope, DServer crashes randomly.

Following the crash on 24th, it crashed two times on 25th now, not on 26th and now we're here to see what will happen today on 27th.

Same set of 3 missions (resaved with every new patch of course) worked reasonably well before Update 4.503, we just saw the random lockup where it would be stuck @100% CPU load once every other month or so - that's the inevitable thing that happens when you leave DServer.exe running for more than a week without reboot it seems.

Long time no crash, but yesterday after 11 days without crashing, DServer.exe process suddenly terminated again.

The Server again was empty when it happened.

Since the process silently terminated, there's no process details, screenshots or such thing from our watchdog.

All we have is "post mortem" information from Windows Event Viewer:

Thanks for the information, I finally caught a similar error(Exception code: 0xc0000005) on 1CGS Normal, made a dump.
