PatrickAWlson Posted February 21, 2018 Author Posted February 21, 2018 Thanks. I think that some of the old user parameters are causing the problem. My guess is that deleting the user folder would do the job, but your method produces pretty much the same results. 1
dburne Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Came across my first scramble mission in my PWCG 3 Spit campaign over in Kuban. Accepted the assignments as listed, and then it generated an error and would not create the mission. Error log attached. PWCGErrorLog.zip
dburne Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Just had another one Pat, assigned to a scramble mission this morning in the Spit Kuban Campaign, with the same resulting error generated. Apparently there is something amiss in the Scramble missions. Log attached. Hope it helps. PWCGErrorLog.zip
dburne Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Pat, Just had another error, this time after completing a great intercept mission. It was right over the front line, lots of activity going on, some JU-87's and 110's, plus lot of AA from the ground. First time I have had the error in anything other than scramble mission, but on this one it was generated at the end of the mission during the AAR report. Maybe I made a wrong claim? I had some kills of both aircraft types, might not have remembered correctly which were which. Error log attached. PWCGErrorLog.zip
QJ-Q_Anton Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 (edited) Hi Pat, Another exception for you to investigate This one occurred after scrubbing an offensive patrol (155 km was a tad too far), and requesting a new mission. The error occurred immediately on pressing the "mission" button. Subsequent requests for missions were fine, so perhaps the error is specific to the mission PWCG was attempting to set up. dburne Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 (edited) Pat, Not quite sure if this is a PWCG thing or not, but thought I would report it just in case. Was assigned a Patrol mission in my Spit campaign over Kuban. I tried this mission twice, and had the exact same thing happen at approximately the same place during the Ingress. The plane would suddenly start stuttering, badly. It was like I was getting maybe 5-10 fps, however I had my framerate counter on and it was still pegging 90 fps ( flying in VR). The second time I tried it, I hung in there with it for a little further distance, and towards the end before I hit escape framerates had started plummeting, down to like the 40's. . So after escaping , I went ahead and submitted AAR with 0 claims. The AAR listed off though a ton of ground things destroyed, not sure if that had anything to do with it or not. This is the first time I have seen anything like this, and with me trying twice and it happening at pretty much the same point, thought it might be worth reporting anyway. I generated an error log and it is attached. My first mission I flew this morning before this one performed flawless. Both were patrol missions. dburne Spit II20180226110227.zip Edited February 26, 2018 by dburne
TheSNAFU Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 dburne, I think I had the same exact occurrence the other day. I thought my rig had crashed and restarted it. I was flying along in a long escort mission in a 109 F4 on the Stalingrad map. All of a sudden the game started to stutter which increased to the point where it was a complete slideshow. I didn't think to check the fps counter but it was terrible. As I say, I assumed my pc had crashed (which was very unusual) and I Control Alt Delete to shut down and restart. I didn't think to try to close the game. I don't know if it was a PWCG or game issue but the experience was just how you described it. Interesting!
Redglyph Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Hi Two strange bugs in version 3.3.2 and IL-2 version 2.012. 1) I'm getting a pop-up with: "Please see error log file: PWCGErrorLog.txt and post error on the RoF forum. null" when clicking on "Accept Mission", for some types of mission, here for instance "Incoming enemy aircraft are near our airbase. Get airborne and destroy them!" java.lang.NullPointerException at pwcg.core.utils.MathUtils.calcDist(MathUtils.java:13) at pwcg.core.utils.PositionFinder.selectClosestPosition(PositionFinder.java:80) [...] If additional information helps, let me know. 2) Also, on one escort mission, I had a different map and briefing map, screenshots in attachment. Anyway, the AI took care of any confusion, the plane to be escorted was shot down because the leader of the escort chose to purchase a lone IL-16 in his very long climb procedure, before any leg to the rendez-vous point (and got shot himself in the process). TheSNAFU Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 (edited) Pat, I'm not sure what changed other than the new game update but I cant get past the AAR. When I click submit report I get an error message every time. The error log file is attached. I tried a test career as well as the one I was playing and it too game me the same error. Cant progress the career as a result so I am kinda stuck. Any help is appreciated! PWCGErrorLog.txt Fritz Meyer20180317110369.zip Edited March 17, 2018 by TheSNAFU
71st_AH_Rob_XR-R Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 It looks like the log file is not being generated, or at least I couldn't find it after the brief look I had for it.
Taxman Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 I have the same problem. Fly a mission but go the AAR screen and submit report the error message shows up and cannot advance the campaign.
VBF-12_Stele Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 Same thing here, but I tried it as a coop mission.
Taxman Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 Just set up a new campaign just to fly a mission and see what happens. No go same problem, just have to wait until Pat can fix the issue. There is lot more to explore right now and with my limited time I just may try a campaign using the the new campaign setup.
TheSNAFU Posted March 17, 2018 Posted March 17, 2018 Well at least there is agreement of a problem. I tried the new career but so far it runs poorly and I cannot look past that. Continuing to find a solution but so far no joy. From what I have seen so far it does not have the flexibility of this great pwcg.
PatrickAWlson Posted March 18, 2018 Author Posted March 18, 2018 Not sure what's up. On the bright side it does generate log files and I do see the pilots names in there. The mission associated with the logs is also there. Whatever the damage it doesn't seem to be permanent. I have been AWOL lately playing Kingdom Come Deliverance so I'll have to get back into things. I'll deal with this ASAP as best as I am able 2
TheSNAFU Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 Thanks Pat. I think this is the first game stopper I can remember since I started using pwcg. Pretty darn good track record.
AKA_Relent Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 Thanks for the 3.3.2 update Pat. Just downloaded it and ran it, was just going to take a look at my pilot log book for one of my existing campaigns, when there was an error: Invalid skill level for pilot Relent. Skill = null I overwrote the PWCGCampaign folder, which had the 3.0.1 version, plus the in-progress campaigns in the Campaigns sub-folder. PWCGErrorLog.txt
TheSNAFU Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 (edited) I hope this problem with the AAR can be fixed soon. I cant play the game using PWCG as it will not progress my campaign due to the AAR error problem. I have so far found no joy in the new game career mode as it currently does not run well for me and really isn't as flexible as this program. Dont know about others but it pretty much leaves me out of the game. Edited March 21, 2018 by TheSNAFU
PatrickAWlson Posted March 21, 2018 Author Posted March 21, 2018 I do believe that it will be fixed. How soon I cannot say. The mission logs are significantly changed. They do appear to have the necessary information. They might even have more than before (not sure about that). If PWCG worked only with Great Battles life would be easier, however, PWCG is also used for RoF and I do intend to continue to support that. To give you an idea of what I have to do: 1. Complete analysis of differences. 2. Move existing Event objects to "RoF" event objects. 3. Create new event objects for BoX. 4. Create normalized event objects that used information from both (I have them already but the code is not structured to handle this issue). 5. Write code to switch between RoF and BoS mission log file intake - result is normalized events. 6. Once I'm there I should be good as the rest of the code already uses normalized event data. Going to take a bit of time, especially as real work is intensely busy at this time. I am committed to this but please understand that PWCG is "on my own time" work and not what I really do for a living (would be nice if it was ). 1 2
TheSNAFU Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 (edited) Thanks Pat. There was no doubt you would fix this when you have the time to do it. PWCG continues to be the best way to enjoy SP as far as I'm concerned. It's too bad the devs made changes to the game that ended up breaking PWCG... The good news is that I saved a copy on the game prior to updating to the new version and I can play that with PWCG until it can be made to work with the new version. Thanks for continuing to support what in my current opinion is your superior alternative. Edited March 21, 2018 by TheSNAFU
dburne Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 No worries Pat, the end result will be well worth the wait!

busdriver Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 Hmmm, I'm clearly doing something wrong but I don't know what. Tried to start a new career, but after the start date of 1/10/1941 got this... PWCGErrorLog.txt
Redglyph Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 Have you successfuly run PWCG before from the same location on the disk? Not sure how the directory names are handled and for example whether they are escaped before calling the Java I/O methods, but the spaces in the directory name might be a problem (I:\Battle of Stalingrad)? Just a guess, if you had no problem before please disregard. I'm usually trying to avoid those as much as possible.
busdriver Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 (edited) Redglyph, yes previous versions were running smoothly. I started over with a fresh install of PWCG. It's working now. Edited March 25, 2018 by busdriver
PatrickAWlson Posted March 26, 2018 Author Posted March 26, 2018 Glad you got it working. Was going to suggest a fresh install. That error will come about due to messed up configs (It was trying to determine which squadrons were appropriate and didn't get the information it needed). When I tried to recreate the problem myself I couldn't, which leads me to recommend what you already did
Semor76 Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 Found a weird (possible) bug in how the AI bomber behaves if they have contact with the player flight. They broke off the formation and begin with endless circles untill all get shot down. I observe this with He-111 & A-20´s but possible all Bombers did this? AFIK, this affects only the AI in PWCG. In the career mode all AI´s acts normal.

Thanks ! Ver 3.5.0 That makes sense since all of the squadrons are in Kuban ... however, obviously PWCG should not make those dates available. Stalingrad repopulates on August 1 1942.
Yogiflight Posted May 12, 2018 Posted May 12, 2018 Hi Patrick, I started a Hs129 career in march 1943 on the Kuban map (unfortunately the duck is not available on the Stalingrad map). I noticed two issues back on my airfield Holmskaya in square 1124 4. The AI land to far to the left and all crash into an aircraft shelter. The landing strip is pretty near to the west/south west side of the airfield. And second, there are, as far as I could see, only russian aircrafts parked on the airfield.
Yogiflight Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 (edited) I just wanted to start a FW190 A5 career from the same airfield at the same time, but a look on the Intel Map shows this airfield as a VVS airfield on the german side of the frontline with two russian and two german squadrons based there, and it is not the only one. The same for career start in april, the first date with the airfields all on the right side of the front line is may 1943. Edited May 19, 2018 by Yogiflight
Yogiflight Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Hi Patrick, I just had an issue, I had already two times before. I had a patrol mission with a mission altitude of 4300m and medium clouds in 3800m. I changed my mission altitude to 3300m, as it doesn't make much sense to fly a patrol in the clouds, so you don't see anything. But when I was flying the mission, I noticed, that the clouds were set lower, too. They were now in 3000m, so I was flying deep in the clouds.
Murleen Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Something I've noticed in a few missions recently is that injuries/deaths reported in PWCG don't seem to match up with those in game. I had a mission where I was just landing when I got strafed and PKed, but the AAR said I was not injured. Today I collided with a Ju88 and got an "I'm wounded" on the radio, and had the blood effects onscreen, and one of my wingmen got PKed in flight, but again the AAR said that neither of us was injured.
PatrickAWlson Posted June 13, 2018 Author Posted June 13, 2018 @Yogiflight There are multiple cloud layers. Can you look at the mission file? The cloud layers are defined at the top. I am curious as top whether PWCG says one thing and then does another or if the game has a different interpretation of cloud layers. @Murleen I would need the campaign and the mission logs to tell you why. The player, by default, is seriously wounded and not killed. You can play dead is dead by setting max injury to death. A pilot that is definitively shot down and killed should be dead. An AI pilot that crashes (no kill recorded) is often forgiven.
Yogiflight Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 @PatrickAWlson Sorry, but I exited this mission and scrubbed it, to fly another one. I suppose the file gets deleted then? Because I couldn't find a file of this mission. But if I'll get this issue again, I will have a look and report.

The player, by default, is seriously wounded and not killed. You can play dead is dead by setting max injury to death. A pilot that is definitively shot down and killed should be dead. An AI pilot that crashes (no kill recorded) is often forgiven. Thanks, I'll PM you the files ... or at least I would, but you don't seem to be able to attach files to messages. Attached here, Murleen.zip is the one where I was shot at the end of the mission (time 42048). Ivanov.zip is the other one I mentioned - I get injured at 12681 and 12940, my squadmate is killed at 48759. Murleen.zip Ivanov.zip Edited June 13, 2018 by Murleen
