Stoopy Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 (edited) In the ongoing effort to provide the IL2 Great Battles community the very finest in Interactive Playground (PG) technology, we are pleased to present this latest in the series of *ABSOLUTELY NON-HISTORIC* multi-objective mission sets featuring 14 missions based on the map and plane set for IL2 Battle of Moscow. This set of missions provides the ability to fly any of the base or collector planes, including some applicable aircraft from Battle of Stalingrad, in an environment where you can determine the level of activity from mild to wild by triggering any 15 separate secondary objectives which can spawn to life in any order, sequence or multiple combination you like. However, none of these objectives need to be achieved in order to successfully complete any of the 14 missions - the only requirement is that you successfully land back at base after taking off, the idea being that the PG offers an all-encompassing environment for familiarization flights and for practicing gunnery, bombing or ACM as you please - missions can last from 15 minutes on up depending on your actions, and you can fly solo or activate a flight of two wingmen to accompany you depending on the route you taxi to the runway per directions at the start of the flight. In addition to mission objectives ranging from ground attack, interdiction, bomber/supply plane interception and of course straight-up dogfights, this PG includes a new type of objective aimed at building proficiency in close formation flying. When activated, the goal is to form up on the leader and, following the messages that will appear on the HUD, stay within the indicated proximity and position with the lead aircraft as you fly a simple figure-8 course that will appear on the map. At the conclusion of one full lap across all checkpoints without receiving a "rejoin formation" message, a green success message will indicate that you've passed the objective, at which point you can go on to another objective or keep flying in formation if you want to hone your skills - (rumor has it that pilots who complete 5 full laps, even non-consecutively, may receive very exciting additional recognition!). Unlike the previous PG's, this one was completely redesigned from the ground up with new mission logic for all objectives for what will hopefully be an even more engaging and challenging experience. Also, the area of the maps for both sides is fairly compact, allowing you to get into the action very quickly. Credit for all completed sub-objectives will be listed on the Mission Results screen, and naturally there is a large Repair, Refuel and Re-arm (RRR) area within proximity of the large mid-field hangar at your home base to keep you in the action as long as possible. Oh, and there are lots of explody trucks to blow up. Lots and lots and LOTS of them! Allied Missons and Map are as follows: I-16 Type 24, Autumn MiG-3 Series 24, Winter IL-2 AM-38 (model 1941), Autumn Pe-2 Series 35, Autumn La-5 Series 8, Winter P-40 (Collector Plane), Autumn Hurricane Mk.II, Winter Axis Missons and Map: Bf 109 E-7, Autumn Bf 109 F-2, Winter Bf 109 F-4, Winter Bf 110 E-2, Autumn Ju 88 A-4, Autumn He 111 H-6, Winter MC.202 (Collector Plane), Autumn New version 1.02 as of 12/12/2021 Changes from version 1.01: Binary mission files converted for compatibility with IL-2 release v4.701 Download Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1O-zV65WewsjUCqDUhzkJOh6mx-ZmPMkD/view?usp=sharing Some highlights and notes for this PG version: Axis and Allied pilots fly from opposing sides of basically the same map, to provide a consistent context to the roles and objectives available on each side. If you really feel strongly about it you can even fly a strike mission against the home base that you fly from as a pilot on the opposing side and seek revenge on your "other self" (I hate that guy). Map icons are used to a much greater extent than in previous PG's to mark the direction of travel or route of enemy aircraft or vehicles, so check the map when in doubt. As in the Bodenplatte Interactive Playground, you can also trigger a cover flight of 4 additional wingmen to help you out if the situation gets hairy enough. If flying the Axis side, just fly under the railway bridge in sector 617.3, or if you're flying Allied, under the road bridge in sector 618.5. I'd like to thank the individuals who made this possible through their inspiring words of encouragement and their willingness to spend hours testing the various iterations, while also providing significant improvements in playability by way of their excellent suggestions. My greatest thanks to the "Playground Gang" of @GregP, @itsbillyfrazier @Krasp28, @Oyster_KAI and @easterling77, as well as to @JimTM, @Sketch and others here in the community for their outstanding efforts to share knowledge about using the IL2 Mission Editor. This is truly an outstanding community and I'm happy to be a contributing part of it. ? Stoopy Edited December 12, 2021 by Stoopy 7 2 3
co199 Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 You're consistently making killer missions, amigo. Keep up the good work! 1
itsbillyfrazier Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 Congrats on completing another excellent PG Stoopy. They get better and better with each release. The formation flying is an excellent new addition too. I would encourage anyone who has yet to try the Interactive playgrounds to give them a go. They are great fun and are also a great way to improve your skills. Always a pleasure to help test them! Thanks again @Stoopy? 1
GregP Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Yes, I think it can be rightly said that if you can't find something to like in these playground missions, you're simply not an IL-2 fan. It truly is a playground. And I too love the addition of the formation flying. What more could you want from an SP mission? These keep me coming back to GB even whether my attentions are diverted primarily elsewhere. Fantastic work as usual Stoopy! 1 1

sonicviz Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Hi, Great playground, thanks! I have 1.02 and used the editor folder resave function to resave them for v4.702 and it seems to work fine triggering them once you are flying. However, when you are still in the quick mission editor it doesn't show you what each trigger mission is, and mousing over them the popup just says icon. The minimap when flying does show the type of mission though, but hitting O to show the full map doesn't. So it's a little hard to navigate the activities for training. Any way to fix this? I assume it's the same problem for all interactive playgrounds.
Sgtslick952 Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Stoopy, Noobie here to iL2. Just downloaded and installed your Moscow Interactive Playground missions. I flew the Junkers mission and once airborne turned left, had the minimap open and started looking for the red icons that float above the landscape marking enemy targets but did not see any. When playing the regular game missions or campaigns I have those turned on so I know where to go and what to hit. Am I missing something? Tonite I flew a bit after turning left and saw artillery fire being exchanged so I headed in that direction, saw what looked like a base and buildings and so I dropped bombs on them. Several seconds later, the message popped up on my HUD that I was penalized for bombing Friendly’s Lol! Apparently I am missing something. I’m sure I was flying the red line on the minimap marking the route that displays all the various red target icons. Thanks in advance for any help Stoopy. These missions are sure to keep me busy for awhile and look to be a ton of fun. Thanks for all your hard work 👍😊
