J37_Daedallus Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 I find it really hard to believe, that we've gone from sometimes having to queue to get in the Thursday Night fly in, to it being a ghost town in less than 6 months. Last night, I flew for 2 hours on the Thursday night fly in, trying to find a couple of opponents who eventually left. And 2 ppl I was flying with, it was their birthdays, and they'd come to fly with their friends on the busiest night! From posts I've read, it is a waste of time trying to contact the developers personally, so I'm hoping the moderator will bring this to their attention. You've made me feel like an industrial mushroom (kept in the dark and fed on sh1t), you've made me feel like ppl who haven't got FC are more important than those who bought it (because the message on facebook is so positive compared to nothing here for months). As a loyal customer I bought modules to support 1C even tho' I don't fly them, I would always defend the developers because I thought they cared, you've made me feel like a mug for doing that. All you had to do was talk to us, and don't say you are too busy with other things and didn't have the time, everyone gets 24 hours a day, it's what you spend that time on, says what is important to you, and who you are. How long does it take to say 'we're working with you to make things better, for example....'? If I wanted to feel like this, I'd get divorced again, the sadness, the confusion, toxic communication, endlessly trying to pinpoint where it all started to go wrong..... If you don't do something soon to resuscitate this corpse, it will be too late, WW1 will be seen as a failure. ROF was left to wander in the wilderness, it looks like FC will sadly follow in its footsteps, only its ppl will be wearing vr goggles. I think one of the problems is 'you' don't fly FC very often, if at all (because you would have picked up dm problems so much quicker), you do tests on it which makes you feel like an expert, which enables you to ignore the point of view of ppl who fly it every day. The biggest problem I see is that those tests are not done in multiplayer, humans fly very differently to ai. I always try to keep a scintilla of hope but you really are grinding it out of me. Do something positive please 1 1 12
No.23_Gaylion Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 (edited) Yup. During the N.A. time last night we had 7 entente and 4-5 central. Would really like to see that monthly bar graph Baeumer was doing for the year.... For about an hour it was 5-1, and then klug ran out of gas playing cat and mouse at 65,000 meters like a friggin FELDWEBEL. We got some balloons.... that was cool. But let's glass half full it Daedallus- hit the nail on the head with simulating Nov.10, 1918! Edited October 9, 2020 by US93_Talbot 2

Look, I'm not joking or trying to be snarky here...this is a video game. We all want things to live up to our expectations, and sometimes they don't. That's understandably dissapointing, but how about some perspective here? I'm mean geez, play another game, read a book, spend time with the family, or even play one of the other 5 IL-2 modules listed under your avatar (all are very good). If the damage model of a virtual WWI video game, or the lowly populated servers themselves, are having as big of an impact on your life as your post suggests, maybe it's time to take a step back, quit reading the forums, etc...Really. The world is full of exciting things to do or be interested in. Apologies if your post was supposed to be parody. If it was, I didn't get it. Edited October 9, 2020 by SeaSerpent

BraveSirRobin Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 I will never understand the need that some people have for constant updates to let them know that nothing has changed. When something changes, they will let us know. Until then, nothing has changed. 1
NO.20_Krispy_Duck Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 (edited) True that the DM situation is frustrating and the game has gotten kind of stale because of the limited scope of planes and the single map. But at some point a practical choice has to be made whether to continue on or to try switching the missions back to RoF. There's only so far you can go with the routine of losing control cables at once, and then coming on here to complain. But what is there to do about it? You're down to the basic choice of run FC or run RoF for multiplayer. If the weekly mission in FC empties out, I say try it in RoF and see if it gets better attendance. The tree is sort of falling in that direction - I see some renewed interest in RoF of late because of the frustration with FC. I guess I'm past the point of complaining and am just going to play whatever is up and available. I'm willing to give FC a chance, but if it's RoF, so be it. JG1_Vonrd Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 The fact that Jason is asking people to provide new screenshots for EVERYTHING but FC kinda says it all... Just to reiterate, I'm especially looking for BOS, BOM and BOK screens. And if you have any cool TC screens that would be helpful too.

I left Rise of Flight because it was a really toxic environment, and I said to myself, "there are other things I can be doing with my time". The server pop was really low, and of the handful of people that remained, there was nothing but toxicity and negativity and drama. Fast forward to now, the population of FC is essentially the same people, with almost no new additions! So, I started to spend a lot more time in IL-2 and DCS. And since I am a combat flight simmer, and not a World-War_One_Or_Bust kind of guy, I found some greener pastures over there, and haven't regretted leaving. Sooo much more challenging, and if I thought I was hot stuff in RoF, man did I have to eat some humble pie over there! I'm keeping my tabs on the forum because I hope that someday the community will get it's sh1t together. If and when I play FC, I'm really going to suck for a month or two. And then I'm going to be mopping the floor with you guys. I am an average BoX pilot, but I'm pretty sure that after a little refresher, I got the old Se-5 and D7F thing down pat! And we will see if people are cool about that or if they are total d-bags, like they were last time. Like I said, the community grows and stops behaving like children, thats when I'll start considering joining.

This is not the start of an argument, but if you are going to comment on my mental health in public, I need to point a few things out. You might have a lot of experience in Flying WW1, but you show little experience of mental health issues or divorce. I served as a trustee of a Mental health Charity and I've been divorced 3 times. Expressing sadness about loss is not a mental health issue, ignoring it, could lead to problems. I am as sane as any other Albatros pilot. I'm retired, can't play sports anymore and live with a dog, through FC I can earn the respect of ppl I respect, I can be creative making missions, skins, and videos, and best of all I can be aggressive in an acceptable environment! And that's on top of the laughs on comms. So maybe I get more out of this game than others, and so feel it more when it's not there, like last night. I've tried WW2, it just doesn't excite me as much. The key thing is, you might be passionate about something I find ridiculous, but that is because we are all different, so no more personal advice about what I should or shouldn't do with my life, and just stick to advice about flying. I can remember how good you were in RoF and was sad when you left (but not as sad as I am now ?) 58 minutes ago, BraveSirRobin said: I will never understand the need that some people have for constant updates to let them know that nothing has changed. The balloon basket dwellers used to exit with a dramatic nip tuck and curl, now they just step out of the basket, I looked for any documentation on this change, but couldn't find any. And again, I'm not starting a conversation about this, life is too short for some of us. 1 5
Guest deleted@83466 Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Quote I am as sane as any other Albatros pilot. Unfortunately yes, hence my concern ? I flew with you a couple of times, didn't I? Weren't you one of two guests, the other being Spyboy, on the Jasta 5 Saturday mornings back in my RoF days?
No.23_Triggers Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Personally, I felt the new DM took a lot of enjoyment out of the game, but it was really that coupled with the devs' complete (apparent) abandonment of FC and its community that's caused me to walk away and find something more personally enjoyable to do for the time being. One thing that did shock me is how quickly I went from die-hard FC'er to, just, not interested in such a short period of time - so I can sympathise with this post. That being said, I've admired your ( @J5_Daedallus ) positivity throughout all the DM-fallout. It's really refreshing to see someone still enjoying FC. I also have tons of respect for anyone mad enough to stick with the Albatros in her current state! 1 4

Guest deleted@83466 Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 We're all good here. We just need to cool the jets. A couple of updates back, they came in and revised the spotting to a point that it was like airquake, which eventually became "enhanced visibility". You could spot things at like 50 kilometers. Unrealistic. The "realistic spotting" however, left me feeling oftentimes like a blind man. I complained a little, and I remember getting a response from the developers along the lines of "we are done with this". But then, a couple of weeks ago, they addressed this. Spotting has never been better in this sim, or any of the other contemporary sims I play. So, I take that to mean that these developers listen and improve things. I think they just get sick of hearing the endless bitching.

The original post said he’s hoping to revamp the screenshots on the website focusing on BOS, BOM and BOK as the current product is “quite a bit different from the original several years ago”. Bodenplatte and Circus are the latest two aviation related products and so the screenshots they already have for them are probrably still suitable. Edited October 9, 2020 by Oliver88 1

=IRFC=Gascan Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 I wish I could have joined you on the Flugpark. I work rotating shift work, so 3 out of 5 weeks are simply impossible for me to join. On the days I can't make it, I am recording video from the tracks I made at BS and editing like mad. At some point I'll have a video on my greatest (luckiest) sortie ever. You're in it, too, Daedalus, but for some reason the skin didn't load in until the exact moment your wings fell off. Of course, I am just one pilot, and a video can't make up for the exodus we've seen recently, it just lets me relive the glory days (and the more frequent days when I lose all control or my wings fall off).

JGr2/J5_Klugermann Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Who would want to be an officer when you can have so much fun as a Feldwebel.
No56_Badger85 Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 I only fly in the sim once a week, on Flugpark's Thursday nights (or during special events like J5's Bloody April and Black September). During the entire week, I look forward to flying on Thursday. I was bummed out yesterday when we had almost no Central pilots online to fly against. I'm not sure what the best solution is at this point about boosting the WW1 flight sim community. I hope we can all stay positive and continue to find creative ways to enjoy the hobby (big shout out to J5 for creating community events and to folks like @US103_Baer, @JG1_Hotlead_J10, @Wolfpack345, @ShamrockOneFive, and others for creating great content about FC). I do wish the developers would be more open in their communication about FC (their news updates about the WW2 sims are fantastic) regardless of whether the news is good or bad. But I'm personally trying not to tie my enjoyment of the hobby to developer updates. I'd rather not migrate back to RoF from FC because I eventually really want to fly with VR. But if there's no one to fly against in FC in the coming year, then that would be an issue. ? 2 2
