I added 5th question:

5. How is view in hangar?

A) Parallel projections off (as it should be)

1. No fish eye, but wrong convergence; my left and right eye do not see at same spot in infinity

2. Pimax 5k+, max. fov, pp off

3. no

4. no

5. In hangar normal view, nothing wrong

B) Parallel projections on (as expected performance ca. 30% lower)

1. yes, Fish eye present, but convergence correct

2. Pimax 5k+, max. fov, pp on

3. no

4. no

5. In hangar normal view, nothing wrong

EDIT!!!!!!! I was talking about views without zoom, they are wrong, and that is now main problem. Zoomed views are also wrong, of course.

I think I’m good now. I updated pitool and everything I could.

Will pimax zoom image caused by the cross, and when the official intends to repair? I'm serious performance degradation (open PP)

When I die in multiplayer (any server), then I go to some edge of map, with totally wrong convergence and now with fish eye :) I must close my eyes every time until I spawn again in hangar.

Can you do something about it please, it was always problem in vr.

thanks!

In the most resent patch (at least) I now notice the distortion profile is wrong for me (Valve Index) in the hanger. When rolling my head the hanger shifts like a parallelogram. No problems with zoom and the distortion when flying isn't obvious if it's there.

Edit: Distortion exists always in plane and in hanger.

Update 4.007

Pimax 5k+, big fov,  pp=on, fisheye in all zoom levels

EDIT: updated and 2x restart, pp=on, pressing different zoom levels when watching over wing, and moving head left / right, my wing changes shape (looks like HS129 wing, then like yaks wing, then like Me262 wing). It is same with ground and objects. There is a fisheye effect, not big, but I see it. And now is like a fist in eye every time...

pp=off still does not work :(

@-DED-Rapidus Just checking in to see if there has been any progress with zoom and canted displays like Pimax 5k+. Just to clarify, with parallel projections off (which is good because PP hurts performance), all is well except when zooming. As of now, I am zooming with one eye ... hoping all levels of zoom will work with the Pimax without PP. Take care!

Just gonna bump that up. 5K+. Latest pitool, nvidia drivers and launcher, same issues

@SCG_redcloud111, @LutzBY, sorry, we will definitely return to this issue. right now, there are no free hands to analyze pimax's zooming problem.

Unfortunately for now you will have to fly with or without PP (. There is no solution to this problem yet.

Ok, thanks for the update. Hopefully it can be addressed at some point. Take care.

What about a one-eye zoom option? You could give us the option to define a dominant eye, and when zooming render only that eye. Let the other eye be black, or render the same view as the dominant eye. I understand there could be problems with the transition from stereo view to dominant-eye only, but it can't be much worse than the cross-eyed vision we have no with PP off.

Also, I don't want to be rude, but

is not strictly speaking correct. DCS has figured it out, so the solution exists.

It's in the API. Pulling the proper transformation matrices for the viewports is required. Then you can build the viewports based on the dynamic real values handed over from OpenVR, and let their system do the rest...

Anyone else having a weird issue with VR since the last update? I can now see the Edges of the screen in my WMR Lenovo Explorer, It feels as though I am looking through a box. I was able to take a picture through my headset, you can clearly see the straight edge of the game's "box" vs the curved edge of the headset lens.

for those not aquainted with VR, normally the edge of the screen extends past the lens and isn't visible (unless the game lags behind and the tracking doesn't keep up, which is very rare) so I'm wondering if the game isn't running at the right resolution within the headset

I've tried restarting everything, reinstalling the game and VR software (windows mixed reality and Steam VR), verifying my game files through steam, checking for windows/gpu driver updates. I've also done some googling and can't find anyone else with the same issue.

my specs are a gtx 1070, i78850H, 16gb ram. I am running the Steam version.

EDIT: Why was this moved to this thread? This is a completely different issue, nothing to do with zoom this is present at all times while the sim is running in VR

you can change the resolution of your vr headset ?, by lowering it, or by increasing it for example 120hz to 90hz, personally with 5K + no problem

First off, looove the new visibility fix. (Huge thanks to the Devs ?) I can spot contacts 10km away with ease on my Reverb.

But in order to ID, I would zoom in... and the contact becomes a speck and sometimes disappears. Maybe this is a setting issue, or maybe it's a bug, or maybe it's just the nature of how VR zoom works... I don't know. But I certainly hope this can be addressed and resolved.

To be clear, I can zoom in when the contact is less than 2km (approximate) and the image would enlarge and I can see the silhouette to ID. But any further out, the contact actually becomes smaller. It seems like the zoom has an opposite effect - instead of making the object larger, it actually reduces it.

Anyone else experiencing this? Is this a known issue?

@TWC_NINja, try using markers to make a flight to QMB, and reset the graphics settings to default. in QMB duels, use the i button to turn the marker on and off and see what's wrong depending on the distance.

The last big multiplayer server banned injectors (Combat box). Pimax users are now officially collateral victims of IL-2 witch-hunt.

If only you could feel pimax pain, just for 1 day.. Guys please reach for help, and solve this.

@-DED-Rapidus Thanks for the suggestion. (I'm not sure why this post ended up here in this thread, but I really don't have anything "wrong")

Just curious that the zoom in VR handles the scaling differently for contacts beyond 2km compared to zoom for pancake monitors.
Works great in VR when zooming in less than 2km - the image does enlarge. Beyond that, the VR zoom doesn't work so well.

With the 4.501 patch (increased visibility) I can spot plane silhouettes further out but when I zoom in, the plane shape is reduced and becomes a speck, and sometimes disappear altogether. So I fly closer for a better look...

Hi, just reporting that I'm having this fisheye issue with Quest 2 using Virtual Desktop. Fisheye does not happen with Quest 2 when using Oculus Link. Fisheye occurs both in flight and in hangar, both zoomed in and not.

Vertical scale or FOV especially seems wrong. Round icons or reticles appear slightly squashed vertically, and everything skews when tilting left or right. Thanks!

I'm having this issue now as well, with the Reverb G2.  It was working great, then I was away from home for a week.  Last night when I fired it up I get the fish eye effect .  The cockpit also seems stretched (very noticeable in the P38 for example) where the instrument panel seems too distant.

I have tried 90 Hz, and 60 Hz but the problem remains.  I reinstalled IL2 but that didn't fix it.  No such issue with my other sims (DCS, X-Plane, AeroFly FS2).

I'm having this problem with Reverb G1. The fps/fov display shows 45 degrees fov, so that seems to be the problem.

Edit: fixed. Probably MR for SteamVR update

Edit2: Finally found the cause. So, just in case anyone cares... in mixed reality settings, under Headset display, there is an option called "Experience options" with three values to choose from. When I have it on "Optimise for performance" Il2 shows slightly different images on each eye (in one eye everything is fatter than the other). With "Best visual quality" Il2 is fine. I hope that helps.

Thank you!! I wish I could buy you a beer for this. Was banging my head against the wall with this. That setting fixed it. I have a Reverb G2.

Hey, guys, great work all around. I have one issue with my new HTC Vive Pro 2. When I roll my head on the x axis there is warping. This is only happening in IL2. No other games I have tested have this issue.

Thanks!

I changed Windows from 10 to 11 on my C drive and left IL2 as is on D drive. Now my game is unplayable - cross-eyed view and huge parallax in VR. How do I reset the game without reinstalling it? HP Reverb G2, all latest drivers and software. DCS and Elite Dangerous look great in VR, so the problem is in IL2 only.

Also, I cannot assign VR center to my joystick (nothing happens when I press the button) and I can move my head only left-right in the cabin, but not forward-back. Why would that be??

I have the exact same problem with my G2. Still on Win10. Game is unplayable!! All other VR titles are fine.

Recenter works fine on my joystick.

Fixed it! It was a WMR display setting. It was set to "Optimize Performance",  I reset it to "Let Windows Decide"

Doesn't seem to effect performance in other titles so I'm good.

SteamVR fov and parallax is incorrect.  I use a Samsung Odyssey Plus and the fov is fixed at 97.  If you're gonna have to deal with creating settings for all these different HMDs, it would be simpler if you allow the user to fine tune their fov or be able to switch eyes to fix their own problems.  The fov needs unlocking, or better yet shift over to the OpenXR API.  It's a shame I have to play this on my Oculus CV1 instead.

Thank you alot!!!!! That helped me with my problem on my WMR.

(Just in case somebody is curious... I figured out, that the aspect ratio on my left eye display actually was different than the one on the right eye display. This made it feel crosseyed to me)

i find it best to keep it on 'best visual quality and 'let windows decide', like has been said here....but I also find it helps to regularly 'clear environment data' and 'reset home'. i found recently that my headset view was tilted a couple of degrees off horizontal and taht fixed it.
