We get wrecked hard from VVS but anyways it was fun. I hope the ZG15 guys aren`t to angry with their escort guys.

This is unfortunate, can't we create a "neutral" location for the skins? And yeah cheaters gonna cheat. Imho the worst thing we can do is to reduce the freedom of common players because few players exploit that stuff.

 

Well, if there is someone how would like to check skins for forbidden signs then we can add skins tab to the web site again. Every current and new skins must be check. If you are interested then pm me and you became TAW skins manager ;)

That moment when you get shot down above an enemy airfield and they don't capture you.   :biggrin::P

The feature where capture probability depends on distance from enemy ground units is interesting ;)

It must be a game bug after last patch. The mission #116 tank convoy in sector 1816 looks like this:

We pushed back. Pretty even teams for a few​ maps, and then you were down to 3. Then the "wonder twins" came on when I called it a night.

 

Also most reds were playing kosmonauts it seemed.

If you look at http://taw-server.de/missions.php you can see that the last few missions on Stalingrad_South map featured consistently high numbers of GK by LW. A big thank you to Kathon for adding this feature - allows those of us who missed the action to get some idea as to what happened.

Yesterday we had a very intense fight with 5 Ju-52 escorted by 2 F-2s. Good to see some LW down and dirty, salute to those pilots  :salute:  (and to the french yaks that helped us finish with their escort)

As a Red and casual fighter member, i see a lack of command from the Red part. Maybe more experienced players should call/order general casual players to concentrate on objectives via chat. Most of the time i don't feel secure about the objectives i choose.

Any suggestions? How can i be more useful as a fighter?

Hello Blue team, I would appreciate very much if those of you that vulch don´t do that when there is like 2-10 difference in the team balance. 

And yes, normally I have nothing against it, it´s a valid tactic, but ffs.. There is a difference if there is somewhat balance in numbers or if there is a situation like that of above.

Evil.    I understand u, but  , no doubt if u are 2vs10 , better tactic its vulch on base and Keep the threat under control. It is fustrating but is a smart tactic... only we can do is take off from far base.

 

My sensation is TAW was broken ... last 3 mas end very fast ... a couple of excellent pilots play many times with favorable quorums ... due current TAW system, Bomb targets have big impact, one or two bombers on simple atack , destroy trains, factories, bases .... it seems this objectives have no enought AAA defense versus single bombers .... are to small or are too much concentrated ... i dont know exactly ... like a red player i Lost the feel with campaing ... i dont care about objectives we archive last night ... becouse next morning all will change ... practically whiout red oposition .

 

But the best, is, TAW is a server on constant evolution, are working for "balance" and i think will continue working. For me this edition not is the best vision possible with tools available.

I would agree if there was a more even number of players. But soon there won´t be any need for vulching as there wont be any reds left to play. I really don´t want to waste my time logging in, planing my flight and get shoot down almost immediately after take off.  

And to be fair, they have plenty of options to shoot me down on route to target.

Yep, just played on a 14 to 3 map. Spent 20 mins planning a flight and got vulched twice as soon as I left the circuit area by the wonder twins despite changing airfields. Pointless.

Well yes in the nights and mornings its PvE game. After this campaign we'll have a longer brake 'cos we have to change few things on a map.

Yeah I really would liked to fly more the last couple of days. But couldn't fly cause some Easter family duties :D

 

Sad to see that like 3 maps rolled in that time.

I propose to return the limit of tanks. And remove the limitations of weapons.

Or lock for the blue team bombs SC 1000

Tank limit was set to 650.

I mean the victory when the limit of tanks is reached.

 

Many red pilots did not want to play in the last war because of the limitation of VY-23. Review this decision, if possible

  • Aircraft Il-2 '41 and Il-2 '42 have locked 23/37mm and they have tag 'locked' on the airfield. There are additional limited Il-2 '41/42 with unlocked 23/37mm. The number of those depends on depot destruction and airfield destruction. The more depot is destroyed then lower the probability that unlocked aircraft is enable on the particular airfield.
  • Aircraft Ju-88 and He-111 have locked big bombs SC1000+. and they have tag 'locked' on the airfield. There are additional limited Ju-88/He-11 with unlocked SC1000. The number of those depends on depot destruction and airfield destruction. They aren't available on the front line airfields.

The 23mm limit made these il2 more valuable and that was a good thing in my opinion. Maybe I was a bit overcautious and only used one but it was worth it.

The blue team, using SC1000, always bombed warehouses and airfields. Red has nothing to oppose them to large bombs in this competition.

there are no reds that play after the European players go to bed.  Well maybe one or two, but not the numbers that they used to get.

 

Before the tank limits were adjusted it was those of us on the other side of the world who either held the lines at night or pushed them.  Now that we are not flying, the lines get smashed at night and you end up with the burn.

 

However, we shall not go into why the reds aren't flying, it seems to upset this thread.

I thought it was pretty fare, you guys get your OP Peshka. We get our 1000 pound bombs...

 

I dont think the planes/loadouts are the main issue, but the player numbers....

Thank you for these incredible TAW again, for all you work to keep it alive.

I would like to made a few suggestions to you.

 

If you can see 6-8 pilots alone in the map with out opposition can win a map in 2 days and a lonely wolf can conquer an AF.

I suggest:

Stronger AAA and heavy flak on AF to encourage team work to attack, also for Industrial target and trains. (do you remember trains in ADW that was a hard bone to kill)

Release weapons on IL2 to compensate heavy bombs on Axis bombers and BFs at Jabo attackers, limitations is not the answer.

Random flak positions must be decreased range of fire or better if they will be close to AFs.  

If you limited Vya23 on Lagg for early maps you will do the same with the gunpods for BFs.

Keep Migs and IL2-41 to all maps. Better Mig is a better fighter that a La5.

Thanks for running this server guys. I know it's a thankless task, especially when you have to deal with so many complaints.

 

Obviously, the Americans (of both hemispheres) have been a little thin on the ground lately. Even though I'm in Asia I tend to play on their timezone and most times I logged in it was me vs 15 Luftwaffe. Not ideal, and I agree with what most of HvB says in his video below-

I'm not a 'gamer' as such, IL2 is the only game I play, and TAW was/is my favourite server. The server seems to start out okay for the first few days and then becomes horribly imbalanced to the point only one side wanting to play. Most of the guys I used to fly with have unfortunately stopped playing (mainly for the reasons in the video above). I spent some time thinking about this and I have a few constructive suggestions below:

 

1. Make the 'war' into a shorter campaign that lasts only 1 week, or perhaps 9 days so you can capture 2 weekends of playing. This may stop the imbalance getting out of hand for too long. You could make each campaign as a part of a larger war, with a week or two off in between before starting the next phase. (This would also allow married guys like me to patch up our relationships and buy some goodwill from the wife for the next session!) You could run, say, 2 campaigns per month and track the results in a larger war that lasts 3 months or so?

 

2. Make the individual maps longer than 1hour 50mins. I like detailed planning for long missions, and I also like to fly in a squad which takes time to get airborne etc.. If I log into TAW and see that the map has been running for anything much over 1 hour, I generally log off and wait for it to roll because there isn't enough time to do what I like to do. Perhaps make the maps 2.5 to 3 hours long?

 

3. As HvB states in his video, limit the numbers for each team and kick people who don't fly 'x' number of sorties. This may curb the imbalance that seems to favour the Luftwaffe. I like flying Russian stuff (only because they are usually outnumbered) but if all the Red slots were full and I had to fly German, it wouldn't bother me at all, I'm sure many people feel the same way. Once again, if the campaigns were shorter then this would only be temporary anyway.

 

4. Perhaps increase the numbers of planes available to each player at the start of a campaign and make it easier (not too easy) to earn new ones. This may encourage newer simmers to play without removing the need to be very careful. Perhaps allow players to choose a favourite plane, and equip them with 3 at the beginning, instead of 1?

 

Aside from the navigation and realism (this is the only game I've played which really gets my adrenaline pumping and a real 'fear' in the pit of my stomach sometimes) the 'must haves' from my point of view are-

 

1. No/GPS icons, for obvious reasons. Already done - awesome.

2. There has to be some sort of anti-cheat policy/software. Needs looking at, though the 'Wonder twins' seemed to have eased off whatever they were doing this round.

3. The reward certificates and medals/rankings for pilots and squads are a great touch. Already done, awesome.

4. The skill of the flak gunners is deadly and very real. Already done, awesome again!

 

All in all, you guys are 90% towards creating the greatest WW2 combat flight sim server OF ALL TIME, it just needs some urgent tweaking or it may die out. Thanks again for your hard work.

Thanks once again for the last campaign. I have some thoughts.

1. I think the "imbalance" is a player thing. Not a plane unlock thing. Sure only as long as players dont stop playing cause of the missing unlocks.
2. The maps have to be longer. You know that and you are working on that. ImHO it must be a little easier to come back. It feels that offensive actions are way more effective than defensive actions.
For example: Bomb an Airfield and Close it: 1 Mission.
Bring it back into action: 2-3 Missions.
3. Some nitpicking about the planeset. Overall it was imho  the best so far. However does it have to reset for each new map? Sometimes I earned myself a yak only to see that the next day it was taken from my by a maproll.
Another thing is that the Supply of yaks was a little thin. Only one all the time, while ze germans got an endless stream of F4s. Wasn't the La-5 and Yak-1 at one point he most produced fighter of the reds(?)
Looking at the planeset one could guess it was the MiG-3.

Hi Guys. Unfortunately I can't make diplomas and medals right now due my house painting and renovation. I'm out of my computer for a week. Another bad luck is that charger of my laptop is broken so I can't get my templates. Very sorry for the delay. Hope I can do all things next week.
