FW 190 A-3 skins

Recommended Posts

I remember reading as a kid the Luftwaffe paints went on fairly glossy and flatened over time. It was part of a caption with an ace standing next to the tail of his AC. You could see a faint reflection of his face on the tail feathers. No source, it was thirty years ago or more.

Hello there fellow pilots,

I have added an other Fw 190A skin to my museum.

Fw 190A-3 Johannes Rathenow White 12 + o, Holland 1942

Johannes Rathenow was part of 10./JG 1. He was stationed in Holland at the time.

He was killed South of Wilhelmshaven during an attack on a group of bombers with their escort P-38's.

This skin is Historically accurate and based off pictures taken in WW2.

I have posted this skin in my Museum where you can watch all of my skins and even get them yourself!

Does someone made a skin without "trousers" on landing gear as above ?

I do not know if this is possible .

Must be tested .

I actually have a model of 'Black 5' waiting to be finished. Nice looking aircraft, though out of this selection, you skinners would probably find 'Black 10' more interesting.

Either way, hope you guys get some inspiration from these :salute:

Hi Fw190 lovers,

Although the Fw190A is my favorite german plane and one of my favorite planes of the WWI, my first skins for Battle of Stalingrad were not Fw190.

And when I was watching at all the nice you were working on and publishing, I hoped that you'd left some for me ...

Eventually it was rather a good thing because all the skins I've made before had helped me to learn how to handle BOS skins better and to be at my best for my favorite plane !

And for my favorite plane I spare no effort and took a lot of time to redraw, or recolor, many parts of the template and to create personnal weathering pattern.

My first Fw190A skin is dedicated to Siegfried Schell "yellow 4" (actually a A-4 model) of the 9./JG2 at Vannes-Meucon airfield, France, February 1943.

The skin is not completely finished (unlocks elements to paint in the right color, nationality markings design, gear doors and bay color tuning, some extra weathering and paint chipping to do), but it is fair enough to be inroduced :

I hope I'll soon be able to release the skin.

Cheers.

Looks awesome!

One thing looks a bit off to me. Isn't the eagle head and neck a bit thick?

Other than that, it looks gorgeous.:)

You're right. I'm going to correct that.

And here we are, I redraw the eagle according the picture. Eventually the eagle looks more "hand made" as something made "on the field" as the picture suggests.

I prefer this version.

So I spent more time than I expected and I haven't made a lot of paint chipping last night ...

Hello,

Some news of Schell's Fw190A :

- paint chipping is finished but I'm not completely satisfied of the result and I'm going to modify some areas

- yellow under wing tips added (but to be confirmed : the point is still being discussed on the french forum)

- RLM 02 tail band added (cleary visible on picture that suggest the band was painted on the field to hide a former yellow tail band)

Some picture to show you the progress :

Hello !

I'm glad to announce that the "Yellow 4" of Siegfried Schell is finished and available for download.

I just want to point out that I've made two version of this plane because when I was talking about this skin on the french forum, some one reported that it xas mentioned in a serious book that this plane had yellow under wing tips.

But all the pictures I've sawn were not accurate enough to confirm this point. So I made the two versions and you'll choose the one that you prefer.
