FW 190 A-3 skins

Recommended Posts

Hello there fellow pilots,

I have added an other Fw 190A skin to my museum.

This time it is JG54 Fw 190A-4 White 12.

Fw 190A-4 White 12, Krasnogvardeysk Russia Winter 1942

This plane was part of 1./JG 54. Stationed in Krasnogvardeysk near Leningrad.

Despite my thorough search, I could not find any other information regarding the pilot or plane.

This skin is Historically accurate.

I have posted this skin in my Museum where you can watch all of my skins and even get them yourself!

Here is my first  paint scheme  for the FW A3 - 7-JG2 .

Though I am a pro artist painter , I do  form time to time some PC work and graphics.

Long time since I have not done any paint schemes  and took sometime to find out what was what.

Template was ok so I modified a little the smokes and the weathering , special attention to emulate the spray-gun of the painter of the real one.

Wulf's personal FW-190A6 Skin.

I did this Fw-190A6 repaint for Wulf (from that lovely country New Zealand), taken from photos of a scale plastic model he made of this aircraft in these exact colours and markings. He kindly asked if I would upload it in case any one else would like to use it, so here it is.

Nice work Tomi, except the Harkenkreutz is rotating in wrong direction, Besides I personal opinion, the rivets effect maybe is too strong.

Nice work. But could you hide a layer small rivets .
Small black dots - it's not right . Painted rivets do not look . Their only visible light.

Its - good

Thanks. :salute:

Looking around the forum I found the professionally made Kill markings uploaded by viperrm64. He did a ton of historical Luftwaffe kill markings for all fronts.  They look way better than what I did on the last skin, so with his permission :salute:  I updated the skin with his markings. The stretching that for some reason kept messing my kill markings is gone. 100% improvement.

Thank you Viper. :salute:

Here are the links for the new ones:

And two shots:

If you havent uploaded the lower screen to the "Scenic" contest you should. It's quite nice.

Thank you. :) the game looks good at Golden hour. It's pretty easy to get nice shots.

I was thinking about uploading some screenshots in that thread, But I just have no time to play this days. Didn't start the game in about two months.:(

Maybe next weekend I'll have a few hours to get some shots.

Very nice Mihalich ! :salute:

According to Erik Mombeek, author of (highly recommanded for any Luftwaffe enthusiast) "Luftwaffe Gallery n°4" : "...IV./JG 1 with its well~known "Lucifer emerging from the clouds" emblem. It has long been assumed that the devil appeared against a blue sky background on these emblems, although a recently published colour photo (unfortunately Mr Mombeek doesn't give his source) indicates that the fires of hell have in fact turned the 'sky' a deep yellow~red colour..."

This article is illustrated by a very nice (as usual !) profile by Thierry Dekker.

attachicon.gifBurath.jpg

Do you guys know where to find this "recently published colour photo"?

Hi Pierre, old fellow!

For your information, the IV./JG1, then I./JG1 "Teufel in den Wolken" emblem was already depicted with "yellowish" background instead of blue in serie "Jagdfliegerverbände der deutschen Luftwaffe" (Vol.7 + Vol.10/II) already from 2008 on.

But, that said... the devil always hides in details!

It is an old emblem inherited from 2./JGr.101, where it was sported on both sides of Emils during the Sitzkrieg (crest background is also depicted as yellow in Vol.2).

For IV./JG1, on both sides for Emils, and on left side only for FW's (Vol.7).

For I./JG1, on both sides for FW's until mid-43 (Vol.10/II).

A small detail : in most of pics checked, the devil's elbows always cross the emblem's crest outline for JGr.101 as well as for JG1 Gruppen.

In Vol.7 (p.124), you clearly can see this emblem on the White 12 (W.Nr.437 from 10./JG1) in Deelen - summer 42 - with a very dark background, but it is the only b/w pic I ever saw with such a dark background. Then maybe Mombeek got an original color pic of this aircraft. So it sounds like his statement could be verified, this is the assumption I took so far.

Hi guys, thank you for the great skins. :salute:  but I think all Spiral spinner skins need have blur effect on rotation portion. otherwise it will looks very wired when the spinner rotates in high rev which cannot be noticed in skin Viewer.exe.

Hi Rook,  I did the modification of your JG5 winter pack to add the blur effect. I sent you a link, please check it in game in stead of in viewer.exe. ;)

Very very good patching of the spiral gustav. That was the main reason i dont smooth the moving spiral, i wasnt able to bring the top plate and the main surface of that spiral together, without braking the smoothed lines. When you watch the track editor , the spiral movement is like in the skin viewer, and not so heavy flashing.

Many thanks for your work , i use it as inspiration and was able to fix the spiral with your help! :salute:

But...im sorry i dont make the generic 190 skins with the new smoothed spiral, im reworking all my existing skins with new colours, etc at the moment, so i need to look foward. I will, when i make a new fw190 skin, use that spiral of course. (for example the real 12./JG5, looks the same without the fuselage ribbon)

Note: when i finished the most skins , i release all masking layers, colours, and the whole skin templates , so you can copy things you like or better see how you can work on different techniques and recreating your own.
