Eclipse4349 Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 (edited) New guy here, trying to learn the basics in single player so far. Working up to the courage to go online eventually...Welcome! I did the same as you, and I'm very hooked now! I even got my first multiplayer kill in Wings of Liberty last night, after only about 3 hours total multiplayer time Edited February 14, 2018 by Eclipse4349 1
ShamrockOneFive Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 LoL....So there I was....just a few weeks ago, having just bought BoS on sale and introducing myself. Now here I am, with a BoK tag under my name, I do believe I've been hooked. Welcome aboard! It is a bit of an addiction but if you fly as much as many of us do its a surprisingly cost effective one in the long run. The dollar to hour value is immense (not counting the extra books, joysticks, and other flight related accessories you might buy ) Welcome! I did the same as you, and I'm very hooked now! I even got my first multiplayer kill in Wings of Liberty last night, after only about 3 hours total multiplayer time Congrats! First kill online is always a bit of a moment in a virtual sim pilots experience.

The dollar to hour value is immense (not counting the extra books, joysticks, and other flight related accessories you might buy ) Congrats! First kill online is always a bit of a moment in a virtual sim pilots experience. Yes it was. I sat there for a few minutes after I landed back at the airfield (and cleared the runway) just going "wow". And then sadly I had to try to get to sleep for work. There is no experience like a sim experience! 1C deserves all the dollars for the hours of value, they have a really great product here that they keep improving. Soon, more dollars will be sent their way for Kuban deluxe, and I might be eyeing up those MFG Crosswind pedals...
C130castrum8 Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 Hi everyone, I bought BoS on New Year's Day and here I am as of today owning everything in the IL2 store Devs deserve it, thank you for this wonderful product and hope this donation can help bring us to the Pacific! I live in Japan until mid-May and speak business-level Japanese, so please let me know if there's anything that needs photographing, finding, or slowly translating. Playing the original IL2 since I was a teenager helped me to keep the dream alive and become a real pilot! See you in the skies, kameraden and tovarischi. 1

falle96 Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 With the sale on, I'm hoping to pick up Battle of Stalingrad tonight (I'd rather pick it over Battle of Moscow, and I certainly can't buy both), but I had a question about the upcoming career mode. Will I need Battle of Kuban to be able to play Career Mode for Battle of Stalingrad, or is the mode being released simultaneously for both Moscow, Stalingrad, and Kuban?

Career mode will work for all the maps, as long as you own the map you want to play the Career on you are fine.

Fantastic, I'm really looking forward to it. I only recently stumbled across Rise of Flight (I used to play the older IL2 games, and I've dabbled in DCS and BMS), and the Career Mode in that is everything I could ask for in a combat flight sim. Having it come to Battle of Stalingrad/Moscow/etc. is great.

I understand the one in BoS will be even better, I am anxious to see it.
racketyjack Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Well, I played IL2Sturmovik ever since it originally came out. REALLY looking forward to see how this sim plays out. I bought BoS at Sturmovik website and if this goes well, Ill be adding on for sure. I will be checking out some of the getting started threads and videos. Hope to see you all online in the air soon. 1

Welcome! It takes a bit of getting used to from the original IL-2 but the switch is worth it... Really amazing work they have done and a lot has really come together in the last year.
mikethemonk Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 (edited) Maybe this isn't the correct place to ask this question but the developers of the game do not seem able to answer a simple request. I bought the game last year but have never been able to register my license key. When I go the the site and log in, then to my profile and click "license registration" enter my fifteen digit code ,I get invalid key message. I bought the game on Amazon France and I have sent screen shots of the purchase on line and of the license within the box. they just keep repeating the same message. Activate your key on our site. Nothing makes any sense! Am I doing something wrong? Tried to delete the pic with the key license showing....delete it, please. Edited February 26, 2018 by SYN_Haashashin
SYN_Haashashin Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 -snip- Hi mikethemonk, Contact support is the only way to go (https://il2sturmovik.com/support/). If the license key is not working, you should contact the seller. Team recommend only to buy from official sources, that been: here or Steam. Haash
Eclipse4349 Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 (edited) Unfortunately, it is possible you purchased a bad/counterfeit key. There is likely nothing that 1C can do. I would contact Amazon and the third party seller and deal with it on that end, try to get a refund for what is a misrepresented product, at best. As Haash said, the 1C website and Steam are the authorized retailers. You have to be careful of "deals" you find online sometimes... Good luck Edited February 26, 2018 by Eclipse4349
Field-Ops Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Looks like you are missing 10 characters from the key strain it should be 25 characters. Amazon should be a trustworthy source but if they gave you a 15 character key I wouldn't think it will work.

Eclipse4349 Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Hi and welcome! There are several good videos and posts about that. Search for "deflection shooting" ir something similar. It will take practice, for sure.
falle96 Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 (edited) I have a question about Career mode. Back in RoF, the big community/official skin packs would actually work in Career mode, making it so that all of the squadrons and aces had the right patterns. Given how camouflage seems to work in Battle of Stalingrad (of which I have spent woefully little time in - for now), will the same not apply with the new career mode? (seriously, though, a mega-texture pack like for Rise of Flight, kept up to date with the new content, would be incredible. The pack I got was from a while ago). EDIT: Stupid question, but how do you get one of those cool BoS/BoM/BoK gold tabs under your profile name? Is it a pre-order reward, or do game owners get it through some means? Jetsun Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 (edited) Hi, I'm totally new to flight sim, and after days of search I didn't manage to find any decent warthog joy, throttle and paddle TARGET profile. I did find very good ones for DCS, and that would be really helpful for total noob like me to find such good quality profile for IL2 bos to start with, i mean even with a ready to go controller there are already soooo many things to learn...even just before knowing what and where to correctly map the joy... Would appreciate if any vet could share or point me to a good Warthog Target profile or script so that I can quickly become an easy target in mp ps: or a least an ingame mapping with what to map where. Edited March 13, 2018 by Jetsun
Mesha44 Posted March 13, 2018 Posted March 13, 2018 I can't answer your other question, but the tags bellow your picture are for pre-ordering the games, you have maybe just this morning, or maybe a week or so to pre-order Kuban. Otherwise miss out. @Jetsun Check the Hardware, Software and Controllers section of the forums, you have to scroll down pretty far to see it. You should find some help there. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/forum/18-hardware-software-and-controllers/
Neopuron Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 New player giving this a whirl. Been 20 years since playing any kind of WWII flight sim. Biggest issue I am having so far is tracking. Missions aren't too bad, as they are tracked as red icons and boxes. But in Multiplayer having a hard time identifying which planes are the bad guys. Finding myself having to get right up on the planes to do so. Haven't blasted any team members yet, but have come close. Anyway, just figured to drop a quick line and say Hi. Only been at it a few days, but certainly enjoy it and will for some time to come. Neopuron 1
335th_GRMultiDoc Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 Hello everyone. I started back in the day when IL-2 first came out. Was quite hardcore flying back then with full gear (Cougar and SimPeds) but stopped flying altogether in 2009 and sold my gear too. A month ago I started building my new PC rig and also acquiring new flight gear. I currently have the Virpil Mongoose T-50 stick and base (expecting delivery today !!!) and waiting eagerly for their throttle to be released too. I'll be a total noob I'm sure but I already went ahead and bout BOS, BOM and BOK along with most of the extra planes as a token of appreciation to the devs and a helping tiny hand to our very small niche community. I hopw to see you online sometime soon (although nowadays with family and kids time will be limited). P.S: If anyone uses Virpil's setup I'd be grateful for your joystick/HOTAS bindings so i can setup myself too. 2
TP_Sparky Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 Hi, I bought BoS and BoK moments thereafter. Then Yak-1b and preordered La-5FN Series 2 (love it) and Bodebnplatte, Blazing Steppe and Ten Days of Autumn. I flew one mission in BoS, bombing Gumrak airfield in an IL2 but still the only marker under under my name is the golden bar with BOK. Is that just my lowly rank or social status or a wry comment on newbie piloting skills? I'm assuming the campaign and collector plane icons can be added below like a quote but I have no idea how and can't find it in the BoS guide nor by trying to edit my profile. I'd have thought BoM and BoS (since I flew a BoS mission) would appear below my name). How do I festoon my online image with completely undeserved bling so I can look like a yellow dog, I mean, like a staff officer?

Thanks, that was fast. Do you get a badge when you preorder collector a/c like I did the La-5FN Series 2 or is that user created?

TP_Sparky Posted March 16, 2018 Posted March 16, 2018 Guess my Bodenplatte badge will appear when early access arrives (I pre-ordered) and I'll throw money at Flying Circuis the first day we can preorder. Thanks, Don. Stephen
Earl_8minus0 Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 I have taken the plunge off the deep end - just wondering if I was in time for the BOK badge or did I miss out due to Time Zone in ROK being so different? Will take time but looking forward the gaining some SP experience before joining anyone in the skies above - hopefully for additional guidance versus an easy kill ~ LOL. Later, Earl 8minus0
335th_GRMultiDoc Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Well I guess I just went "all in" on my "return to virtual flight sims".... I placed my order for a set of MFG rudder pedals. Now I'll be off looking and researching how to install them under my desk in a fully carpeted living room in a way that will allow them not to move about when flying. Suggestions are very much welcomed and needed really.

Art-J Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 (edited) Just got the game - BoK that is. Not a new guy to WWII related flight sims, but a total virgin about 777 products. Browsing the guides section, trying to gather some documentation about the sim and the planes before setting up anything. Hence the question - did Chuck Owl make a guide about post BoS planes? I like his work for CloD and DCS, found BoS guide he made, but there doesn't seem to be anything from him about later installments of the series. Is that correct? Edited March 20, 2018 by Art-J
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 There was friction, which seems to be resolved now, and no guides were made for the two follow on installments. Jason taking the reigns has mended a lot of the early customer service/interaction issues. Chuck’s guides are very good. Perhaps we should petition him to add content. I see him in the forums on occasion.

I drilled holes in the matt on each side of the rudder pedal floor arms and secured the MFG rudder pedals to the matt using tie wraps (also called zip ties) from the hardware shop (the police use tie wraps as temporary handcuffs) run through the holes in the matt and over the MFG rudder pedal floor arms. The matt protects the carpet and the weight of the chair hold the matt and pedals in place under the desk.

But wouldn't the chair push back, being on wheels and on a hard surface now (the mat)? What I did for my own setup (CH Products Pro Pedals with center detent removed and extra centering spring added, on a carpeted floor, desk against the wall) was to place the pedals where I wanted them, then measure the distance from the back of the pedal casing to the wall. I cut 2 lengths of 2x4" wood to place between the pedals and the wall so they can't push towards the wall. The carpet provides enough resistance that my chair doesn't roll backwards.
