3D designers’ support wanted to create 3rd party content

Merry Chrismas,

 

following Han’s invitation to support the game development by 3^rd party input, a team is forming to improve the Western European maps, Rhineland, Normandy and later Western Front 1918. A great asset would be adding missing buildings to the map. The scope ranges from simple typical area-related buildings and industrial structures to monuments like Canterbury Cathedral or even a Chateau de Versailles – who knows?

 

There have been already discussions in the forum about creating 3D content a while ago. All hands with experience in creating and processing 3D data using 3Ds Max V12 or similar able to create data in .MGM format are welcome to join the group.

I'll let this one run, as long as it remains a call for talent as opposed to the actual monuments and landmarks. If it becomes a topography wish list, I'll have to lock it up and point to the existing thread mentioned above.

Apologies, but Hamaha, Vander, and myself are among some of the team members that has formed and is working with the development team to improve all of the Western European FC/GB maps and we need additional help.

 

We do have a specific list of objects and unique landmarks/POIs that we are looking for, many of which are listed in the above thread, hence I linked it for inspiration, but I'll simply post some of what we're looking/have discussed on our private team Discord below:

 

-English coastal lighthouses and forms, especially in the Kent area

 

-Hotel De Ville, Calais

 

-Canterbury Cathedral

 

-Salisbury Cathedral

 

-Old Sarum

 

-Mont. St. Michel

 

-Versailles

 

-London and Paris sights like the Tower, Tower Bridge, Parliament, St. Paul's, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, etc. to be visible from afar (i.e. top-notch quality not needed ala the Moscow Map)

 

And then more generic things like:

 

-English Oast houses

 

-Proper English farmhouses, barns, and agricultural structures

 

-Cooling towers

 

-River barges as blocks

 

-Snow-covered Slag heaps

@Hamaha15 @drewm3i-VR I've just found this thread but this is amazing news! I might share this on Reddit to increase exposure if that is ok. Can't wait to see the improvements you guys are going to make, especially London and Paris. Does this mean that you will be able to create new objects? All the best with this project.

I would love to see it completed--or at least the texture and population work already completed imported into the game! Much progress was made and then nothing...

Hamaha15 (Hans-Martin) sadly died from cancer last October. I was working with him on improving the Rheinland map, but I only have a very small part of his excellent work. I tried contacting his widow, but without success...

 

I know @jollyjack has met up with them in the past. Is there any chance you could contact her and see if she'd be willing to share his edits? It would be a shame to lose all his beautiful additions. I think finishing his job would be an excellent homage to him. Especially with how he told me during his illness that he considered working on his terrain mods part of his treatment, as he found the work strangely relaxing...
