HB's skins

@Yankee_One,

I finished what I could. I still can't seem to find all the bits & pieces that make up the Sherman. the Devs didn't provide any additional ID layers to help finding the small parts. However, I don't think this one is too bad. I added some dirt, dust, and rust. Unfortunately, I didn't really do anything to the running gear. It slipped my mind. I'll fool around with it a little more and try to fix/add things if I can. I'll probably upload this to HSD within the next or two.

Not too bad??

It s absolutely stunning and fantastic!

Weathering and the yellow stars are an eye catcher.?

I love it.

Thank you so much for your spare time and your work to give us another masterpiece!!!

I can´t find your new Sherman skins (8 Armoured Brigade) on HSD too.

Any idea?

S! Yankee,

Sometimes you need to click the button in the bottom left corner of HSD that says "find skin updates". Allow it to search which might take a minute or two. I'd also use the Artist filter and select JV44HeinzBar. This will filter to all my skins. Additionally, not that this applies in this case, but under options check the box for uncensored restricted symbols. This will allow you to download everything.

Thanks for the kind words. Once I have time today, I'm going to try to figure out the wheels & suspension on this Sherman and "muddy" them up :)

HB

PS,

I forgot to mention that I tried something a little different on the above Sherman. If you look closely at the sides of the Sherman, you might notice that it has a pitted appearance. Should I apply this technique to the rest of the tank? I can't seem to find any good pics of Shermans where other parts of the tank are pitted, only the sides.

Please leave your opinion.

Thanks,

HB

For me its fantastic. I like it as it is. Thats my opinion.

But you are the artist, its up to you HB.

Thank you

About HSD, dont know, but even with your hint, your name i cant find those Sherman skins.

All the others are there.

S! Yankee,

See the pic below. I normally set my filters and then click find skin updates. There are several options there that you can filter on. Under IL2 Group filter, try Simulated Combat Group SCG. I listed those Shermans under their group. Oh, be sure to let HSD complete its filter process. Sometimes, it can take 30 seconds or more. You'll see a red progress bar moving while it works on filtering.

S!,

In between virtual meetings, I decided to try my hand at making some zimmerit for the PzIV. It looks ok, but if anyone has some suggestions on how to improve it, I'm all ears, er, eyes. For some reason the zim looks ok in Photoshop, but when applied, some of the zim is reversed e.g. emboss.

Getting the alpha layer right is key to having the embossing look correct in game.

I finished a tank that several people requested. They were asking for an early version of the PzIV. I did not put the Balkenkreuz on the chassis like later PzIV would incorporate, but used the early turret mounted cross. There are several photos of PzIVs from fall of 43 that still had the cross on the turret. This skin is based on the 29th regiment of the 12th Pzr Division near Volkhov, USSR.

I used as the base Black Grey RLM 66 and Gelb Lasur RLM 05 the the camouflage pattern. Additionally, I've been playing around with creating more realistic rust. This takes about 6 different shades of brown to get a convincing look, along with some natural looking patterns. This took some time, but now that I have something I like, I can start adding it to future tanks to give them a more "worn" look.

I uploaded the skin to HSD. It should be available by tomorrow.

I've never attempted to paint one before. I'll look into it in the future. For now, I hope these will do the trick.

@CIPPOZ,

You find my skins on Haluter's Skin Downloader. You'll find the program here:

Simply install the program and choose the skins you wish to download. Be sure to look under options and review. Some of my skins have restricted symbols. You must allow them if you want all the skins I've done over the past 10 months or so.

Actually, I should have said bump map. There are a few previous examples available in this section of the forum if you search for zimmerite.

S!,

Thanks goes out to @super-truite for hosting a dedicated tank PvP mission. As a tribute to the winners, I created 3 skins for their accomplishments. I added their victories, names, and the date of the AAS event. I hope they like the skins. I'll post these skins in HSD in the next day or so. I'll include them in the AAS skinpack.

Cippoz

S!,

I used Google translator, "HELLO SORRY BUT A NEW VERSION OF THE HSD HAS COME OUT, I have been using it for more or less two months, but I can not find new skins I have almost all downloaded from this site and they are many, but always too few... congratulations are really nice indeed a heartfelt thanks. Cippoz"

I hope this is correct. I don't speak Italian, but I can try to help. When using HSD, be sure to allow HSD to completely load...HSD will notify you when it's complete. After the progress bar is finished, click the button in the lower left side of the screen, "Find skin updates"...allow HSD to complete the query. Next, go to Options. Be sure to have "Uncensored Restricted Symbols checked. Some have made comments on having problems finding skins when "Preview image upscaling" is checked. If you still can't find new skins, try unchecking "preview image upscaling".

Hope this helps.

PS. I'm not familiar with those skins you posted. They are nice looking skins.

Was bored this evening, so I decided to paint a tank. This PzIVg was part of the 9th Panzer Division that was rushed to Normandy after D-Day.  It still needs some work, but it's good enough, IMO.

I forgot I promised Super-Truite of Advance and Secure server that I would skin some vehicles for this weekend's tournament. It was a bit of a rush job, but they should be good enough for the time being. After ST approves the skins, I'll upload them to HSD. Hopefully, someone can step up and cover my laziness by doing the Shermans...wink, wink @Maillon21 :)

PS, I'm still having a hard time trying to remove the smoke canisters from the Tiger. I've spent several hours trying, but still no luck. Maybe one of you kind skinners will send me step by step method to remove those pesky things.

S!,

After many hours of experimenting, and with the help of @Tomi_099 excellent template, words of advice from @Maillon21, @SCG_Baryonyx, and @SR603-Flowbee, I've managed to delete the smoke canisters from the Tiger. A lot of the skins I've created from historical pictures feature the E model tiger rather than the H. Now, I can continue skinning E model Tigers for our sim with the historic skins ( artistic license still applies :) ). I never realized how difficult removing parts can be in IL2 and it never would have happened for me w/o the help of fellow skinners mentioned above.

Please do a skin for Luftwaffe's Fallschirmpanzerdivision "Hermann Göring". They used the StuG III extensively. At least this basically is a flight sim and so we would have an air force skinned Panzer.

Unfortunately, I can't skin.

S!,

Got back from my vacation and worked on a couple of tanks with my last day off. @MiGCap, I hope this Goring Div panther matches your expectations. This panther is based on Red 01 Stab I./Fallschimjager-Pzr Div Hermann Goring, Gumbinnen, East Prussia/Germany October 1944. The I.Abteilung was organized w/ four kompanies, each with 14 panthers plus a Stab, with 4 panthers totaling 60 tanks. The first Abt was sent to fight in E. Prussia in the area of Kassuben. They immediately went into action and by Oct 22nd the battalion destroyed nearly 100 Soviet tanks. This vehicle was commanded by Maj. Karl Rossmann and wears the distinctive 'disc camouflage' on the side skirts. Not all panthers from this division used the disk pattern.

HB

PS. I'm still waiting on the Stug III g template. Once it comes out, I have a color plate of a stug III g from the HG division that I'm going to try and paint.

Just a couple more tanks. I had started them before I left for holiday. Hopefully, the TC gang will find them appealing. White 132 of 1./SS Pz Abt 102, Cologne(Koln), Germany Sept, 1944. This is the Tiger I commanded by SS-Oberscharfuhrer Walter Knecht. Knecht's driver only known as "Heini", managed to drive it all the way from Normandy back to Cologne area, a 650km drive, in early Sept, 1944. He was awarded the EK1 for that accomplishment, and an unmarked Tiger from the Sch Pz Abt 502 Dunaburg Latvia 7/44. Both tanks are based on the PzVIE1 model.

Hello. They look very nice, great, thanks for your fantastic contribution!! Using these tiger skins I would also make a winter version by adding some off-white over the skins. ? I know it probably won't be historic, but winter skins aren't many, and Ferdinand's skins are all very similar too, ? anyway I wanted to ask you, but with PANZER 3 M skins, there isn't the possibility to have at least one white version, they don't even have numbers, do you know why? They are not essential, I understand, but only one seems a little bit! Don't you think so too?? If I was able to do them, I would do a lot of them, but I realize it's not simple and it takes time, and not everyone can!!? Thanks again!?

S! @CIPPOZ,

I can easily create a layer to mimic a winter white wash over existing camouflage. I haven't bothered doing winter skins because if other players don't have the skin, then the default "yellow" is used. Yellow is not a good color against snow in multiplayer scenerios ;)  However, I'll do some for those single players out there. It may take me some time to add these to HSD.

I've done a couple of Ferdi skins, but there's not a lot of reference pics for me to use. I can create some generic Ferdi skins in the future that are similar to the historic skins. This is also an issue with the PzIIIs. Again, I can do some generic PzIII skins.

hello thank you very much, I'm not in a hurry but I think that I will not be the only one to benefit from it, and in any case in my opinion it is a really nice and interesting part the possibility to see how the colours were more or less of the various tanks that over the years have as evolved this all-German practice of painting tanks, as if it were art, and in the end it is! Today I'm going to see if there is the new tiger and panther that you made and put in the HSD, you could also put them here to download them, many have done so and in fact there are not on the HSD. I also hope to meet someone who enjoys doing new missions or campaigns for the single player, ok I salute you and thanks again friend!

S! Cippoz,

I would put them on here, but HSD saves me space on my mediaserver. Additionally, if I update a particular skin, I only need to upload it to HSD rather than having multiple copies on my mediaserver. For me, HSD is very convenient and well organized, unlike my mediaserver :)

S!,

I've been playing around with another panther. The striped versions are very interesting but difficult to get perfect. I took a little artistic license on this one, but it looks decent. It's based on a PzV-G of the Pzr Div Munchenberg Feb, 1945. It still needs a little work, but it's not too far from being finished. I hope y'all like it.

Updated this panther. I previously put in the wrong color plate from a panther that's very similar to this one...nearly identical to be honest. Anyhow, I left the opacity at 100% to bring out the colors more. I may change it, but I like the way the colors pop.

Critiques are welcomed.

@CIPPOZ I took some time and experimented with white washing by creating some new "water color" brushes in Photoshop. I like what I've done so far, but I'll continue to play with the opacity, flow, brightness, and contrast. Eventually, I'll find something I like. But for the time being, I'm posting something to get some feedback. Please leave some comments on this technique to let me know if I'm heading in the right direction. It's been difficult to find some decent pictures of "white-washed" tanks and replicating the effect. I could easily do a white wash, but it's not very realistic in my opinion.
