J37_Daedallus Posted April 12, 2021 Author Posted April 12, 2021 S! all Operation Michael - week 1 In this film, J5_Eck and J5_Wilhelm perform an heroic attack on the Outpost in sector B, escorts J5_Konnecke picks a flower as he recovers from a spin in his triplane, and I get my guns so damaged from a Bristol or Se5, I can't use them. cheers 3
J37_Daedallus Posted April 18, 2021 Author Posted April 18, 2021 S! all Some footage from week 2, with The Free Birds of Red flight performing a Combat Air Patrol over enemy airspace. Our orders were to engage the opposition and force them to retreat, which we did. cheers 4 1
=IRFC=Gascan Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 Winkleman's face is the picture of determination as he leads his flight to attack the Observation Post in Sector B I lead the charge to try and fend off the attack The Halberstadts fly on as HBender dives in to help out. 5 1

J37_Daedallus Posted April 25, 2021 Author Posted April 25, 2021 S! I'm honoured that such highly respected pilots took the time to leave a comment (except you ST Catchov - you were just being cheeky ?) I can't get Pink Floyd's Dark side of the moon out of my head now! ? cheers 1

Wow you managed to make that impotent attempt on my part to stop the Schlasta look brave somehow. Epic action from the J5 and Sch27b folks! This week also. My shots from this week: @J5_Winkelmann in good old Number 7 "RIA" drops a bomb dead on target and a pink Dolphin is caught in the blast wave! It's always fun to get your wings blown off by your own creation. @=IRFC=CaptDarling attacks @J5_Wilhellm in the background. Wilhellm and I sliding across the floor with Darling and an unidentified Halberstadt still around. Call off the state funeral, lads, the Pink Princelet in his Fabulous Flipper has made it out alive. There's brown skidmarks everywhere and not just on the ground. The Captain covers my fruitless attempt at knocking out an advancing tank, unaware of the Albatros... -si? -sen? The Huns that lurk about. "ARGH! Aerial combat toe to toe with the Hun, my only weakness!!" @J2_Jakob is in pursuit, along with a second unidentified Albatros. The Captain manages to throw them both off but suffers critical engine damage and is forced to ditch behind enemy lines. His capture is a sacrifice I was willing to make. I'm an emotional support Dolphin, Bob. Darling is legally allowed to take me along on flights lasting more than 2 hours. Okay, I did manage to take down one Pfalz, as the Huns were mounting a formidable point defense of the tanks in sector A (or B, I don't remember). S! @J15_Gontermann Pictured below is @J5_Konnecke who I hopelessly bounced and who immediately turned the tables around and shot my control cables off. Good show, sir! Thankfully I managed to ditch once again. Still on my first vLife after 3 weeks! I mean, it works wonders if you just run and abandon your teammates. Bonus shot: "YES! I got the recon!" Wait, what's that... He gets the kill... And then he waves at me! The audacity of this b— @US93_Larner, you can be my wingman any day. Well the other one got captured, so... J37_Daedallus Posted April 25, 2021 Author Posted April 25, 2021 S! all Week 3 Part 2 3 interesting things in this film, 1 the Se5 goes into a turn fight with his Lewis gun tilted for those that haven't seen that before. 2 J5 Mai demonstrates how to scissor in front of a camel until help arrives. Those Lewis guns really shocked me. I was clearly out of the gun solution when those first Lewis gun hits struck me, and it shook me! Great to see the cavalry arrive to rescue me. The second SE5a to drop on me hit my pilot critically, but with the help of J5, I was able to extract, and to return safely to land at our airfield. Cheers for a great film. What a blast!
US103_Baer Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 (edited) Good squad work here from J5. Shows that in air combat 4 x (1 x 4) ≠ 4 x 4. Think Entente might have been better off staying above or dragging the Albs until enough friendlies arrived. But if not on same comms then tricky to organise. See the DM doing its thing at 3:11 ! J37_Daedallus Posted April 26, 2021 Author Posted April 26, 2021 S! all Operation Michael Week 3 - Part 3 I was going to call it Tanks for the memory, maybe next week? Soundtrack by The Who and INXS I saw the Who live at Charlton's Football ground 'The Valley' with a group of friends in 1976 when I was 20 (tickets were 4£, you'd struggle to buy a pint of beer for that price now). Just a faded memory ? Good to see a fellow Douglas Adams fan (So long and thanks for all the fish), Dirk Gently says not to forget to carry a towel around on 'Towel Day' next month! cheers 3 1
JGr2/J5_Cremer Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 That SE5 bursing through the explosion on the ground was just EPIC! Once again, a fantastic video of the battle over the tanks. Sensational to watch! 1
