Is that possible for you to hack a Ventura with something existing in the game?

Hmmm....
The most likely candidates, the Bf-110 and Pe-2 have the requisite tailplane but have inline engines and look a bit anorexic plus neither has a rear turret although the Pe-2s87 can be fitted with one just aft of the cockpit.
The B-25 is AI only (so far) and besides would just look like a navalized B-25.  The only other real candidate is the Ju-88 but the nose is all wrong.  It works better as a Japanese Toki anti submarine bomber and has already been skinned in that role.

Tell ya what, I'll whip a Pe-2s87 as a USN Ventura WIP up in the next couple of days and we'll see what we have.

Any suggestions are always welcome along with any paint schemes you might like to see on her.

BTW, are you looking for a European scheme (Earth/Green) or a Pacific scheme (Blue over Light Grey-White)?

USAAF/RAF/FAA/CC (Coastal Command)/RAAF/RNZAF/Brasil(FAB)....?

@DN308;

I saw your request just before going to bed.

Right after I wrote my response I took a quick look in the SkinWerx Studios Library to see if I had a Pe-2 I could possibly modify for your Ventura.

And lookie what I found!

I forgot that I had toyed with the idea about a month ago but thought no one would be interested in it.  This is on the Series 87 as it has a turret option.  This skin will also fit on the Series 35.  "BB" code is a vanity code and was also a test of USN Black/White drop shadow lettering.
So, what do you think?  Should I pursue this "venture"?
Anything you would like? Color(s), Nationality, Early or Late War (if US), Numbers, artwork?

Let me know.  If you like where I was headed I'll get started on it this weekend.

Looks like it's going to be a three day weekend @DN308, starting today.

So, here's what I've come up with.  Look them over and if you like them I'll upload them.

After looking at a lot of RAF Ventura's I only found one example with roundels on the underside of the wig and they were late '45+ versions so I left them off.  If you want them let me know.

If there's anything you'd like changed or modified let me know and I'll get right on it.

The Pe2 in RAF colours (along with the IL-2 in FAA) both just look so right.

After the war the Allies found several examples of the Me-262.  Most were either damaged beyond repair by bombing or German sabotage.  However a few examples were found that were in flyable or nearly flyable condition.

One however was outstanding.  100% complete and flyable, it appeared to have been recently delivered from the factory and somehow escaped the fate of it's fellow craft.

With the future of flight resting in the upcoming Jet Age and the fear of the Russians getting a leg up in jet design, the plane was turned over to the Bell Aircraft Company with instructions to make it into a test bed.  Stripped of all armament, fitted with 2 Westinghouse J30-WE-7/9 engines to replace the Jumo 004's and filled with test and monitoring equipment it became the original Bell 'X' plane shown here over the Muroc Dry Lake.

Here is my rendition of that plane, currently a WIP;

Comments, and criticisms for doing this the the 'Swallow', welcome.

Might be one of my favorites you've done so far, but I suppose it isn't much of a Hack, eh? haha. Really good stuff man!

Hi there, is the Pan Latin C-47 still on track?

Posted

In the last Dev Diary, Jason hinted at a new plane.  Of course the guess's were all over the place but two planes came up the most often.  A flyable B-25 and the upcoming B-26.
At this time the B-25 is AI only and B-26 is scheduled to be released as AI only so, :mda:that got me to (uh-oh)? thinking....

Here's my latest hack project, the A-20 as a B-26 Marauder;

Both currently WIPs.  Release date TBD.

@Beebop Could you hack the La-5/La-5fn to a Ki-100, please? I’d be so grateful. Thank you.

BP_Lizard,

When I saw your request I was on a break from "polishing up" my B-26 Marauder hack but your request intrigued me.

So I put it aside temporarily and this is what i have come up with so far.  It is a very early stage WIP:

spacer.png

I chose the La5s8 as the canopy better represents the examples you gave me.  I felt the FN with it's "bubble top" style canopy is better suited for Zero hacks.  Both La-5's are rather stubby for the Ki-100 but we work with what we have.

If you'd rather have the bubble top FN let me know and I can do that model instead.

As you can see I have some alignments to do and I am not completely certain on the main color but overall I feel it's a good start.

Any comments/suggestions/special markings you'd like to have now is a great time to let me know.

Give me a couple of days as I'd like to to finalize those Marauders first.  I should have something for you by the end of the week.

Progress Report

Ki-100 hack for BP_Lizard

If you look closely I have added some panel lines to get away from the "Lavochkin Look" of a mostly wooden body.

In no way do I claim they are accurate for a Ki-100 but they do follow the panels at least in spirit.  After all, it is a hack.

Obviously I still have some work to do on that rudder stripe.  There are places on this template, and almost all of them, where the wrap makes you say "wha th' ****?"

Oh well, that's the challenge of skinning.

BP_Lizard, any comments?

@BP_Lizard ; Then I take it you are satisfied with colors etc.

I will get that tail stripe in order ASAP and put up the D/L link.

<2 days tops.

Oh, very much so. I really appreciate you taking the time. Thank you very much.
If applying this scheme to the FN isn’t too big of a change, that would be most appreciated too. But if it’ll be too much of a work then don’t bother. This is more than I could ask for. Thanks.

No, this is more than great as it is. I’m really stoked. I can’t wait. Thank you very much.

If in the future, you get the time and the itch to skin the FN then I would be doubly stoked. ?
