Just wanted to point out the new canopy we got for the G14 and K4 is called the Erla-Haube in German, because it was developed and first introduced by the Erla Maschinenwerk G.m.b.H. subcontractor. It often erroneously gets called the Galland-Haube, I suspect because the Galland-Panzer, which is the armouerd glass headrest, increased visibility and the name Galland was being henceforth associated with any changes increasing visibility. 1

How do they differ from "Presets" ? I am operating Pimax5K VR. Finally when loading 4K skins ( another mod obviously) they have an additional folder to add called "Normal Maps" which I also assume can be added using JSGME ? ( I should probably ask this question in that mod posting , but just thought someone here might know the answer??

However, the textures in the common folder are primarily for the instruments on the aircraft's panel, so they do benefit from Oyster's high-resolution treatment. So to get the best you should load them too. Yes, you can use JGSME. They go into a different folder from the cockpit textures, so it doesn't matter what order you load the aircraft cockpits and the common textures. I have no idea about the "Presets" The

For the cleaned & scuffed up cockpits (less weathering) you should make a different mod. Should look something like this for example: Il2 GB/MODS/4K cockpits less weathering/data/graphics/planes/chosenplane/textures Drop the specific less weathering files in this mod

Mig-3s24 Thanks to @Danziger , he did a lot of research, and made historycally correct color for Mig-3. The interior panels and bars were painted blue and not left grey. The control stick was green and not grey. Behind the pilot seat was a separate rear section of fuselage that was made from stalinwood. The sections were built and painted separately before final assembly. The metal framing around everything behind the pilot seat is green. The panels around the radio are bare plywood. However, because of these IL-2 I-16 upsizing and rework improvements, I may no longer notice the difference (much) between the I-16 Il-2 and DCS versions ! OTOH Taking off in the IL-2 I-16 is incredibly easy. But trying the same in the DCS flavour is another matter (the plane will react to the rudder in an authentic way -I guess- making it quite a challenge each and every time ? !) It would mean the difference between light and day fot those modules too going by what was and what was accomplished by him in favour of all IL-2 GB planes ! 1

Really appreciate what you have achieved. And things seem to be continually getting better too. For first time ever (in the 3 years plus since getting them) I now enjoy flying the P-40 and Mig-3. For example, texture of Panzer IV is much better than H1 Tiger, before full release of Tank Crew, I think there is possible that devs will enhance current texture quality

simfan2015 Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 (edited) Oyster_KAI, since I am a collector I got (nealy) all DCS World modules as well and thus I can compare these against your improved / upscaled versions of the DCS vs IL-2 cockpits. You really did a tremendous job with this ! IMHO the (comparable) DCS cocpits were always a bit ahead in the past (and also 'clickable'), yet now with these improved cockpit version ! ... Please keep at it ... doing what you do. (and now with the future DCS P-47, Mosquito en maybe even that rumoured DCS Me262 ... even more to compare against your improved versions in IL-2 GB :-)) Edited May 8, 2020 by simfan2015 1

I have the Valve Index and my PC is a bit long in the tooth (6850k, 4.3 Hz, 16 Gb Ram, GTX1070) as a result I do not see much difference between the standard and 4k pits. I also use @rowdyb00t cloud mod (v9.1). I can fly the sim with a robust 45fps and I am happy. I noticed that in overcast or heavy clouds I lose 15fps due to the 4k skins because my fps drops to 30. In clear or lightly clouded sky I have a steady 45 fps. No complaints as it is to be expected I presume but as VR players are looking to squeeze some more fps out of there PC’s this info might help someone. IMHO The reason fort that is the OVERCAST sky, not the 4K skins or cockpits. I am not using VR (yet) but I too get a serious drop in FPS with ... heavy clouds not due to the 4K skins. Since you have a GTX 1070 GPU you should have more than enough VRAM for IL-2, even DCS. A Geforce 1650 with 4 GB VRAM is a bit of a problem with 4K skins + cockpits and 4K resolution ... but even then you won't loose 15 FPS ... AFAIK ! Edited May 8, 2020 by simfan2015
