Excellent work thanks @Charlo-VR!

I haven't been able to game/fly for 6 months or so due to a busy business period - but looking forward to getting back in maybe in Jan holidays.

Flying circus 4, Fokker E.III and Airco DH2 sure are going to bring back some memories of ROF :)

cheers

With this week's 5.505 updates to six WW II engines, I have now updated these pilots notes:

First of all, if you downloaded them from my post about 10 posts earlier than this one, my pilots notes for the Albatros D.3 and the Airco D.H.2 now display in the cockpits of those Flying Circus Volume IV planes. They look fine to me so I made no changes to them.

Also, Flying Circus Volume IV led me back into recently flying those older crates. After watching @Requiem's fantastic tutorial on the Gotha G. V, I added into my pilots notes for the Gotha his advice on flying that bomber, since what you have to do to simply take off is so counter-intuitive and specific to that plane.

So, here's a link to my updated pilots notes for the Gotha G.V:

Sure! It might save some frustration for other pilots as they fly that big bird for the first time 🙂

Look great. Great addition to detailed immersion. I had almost forgotten SAS after I stopped modding "IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946".

Could someone tell me the font which is used when making these Pilot Notes?  Thanks

I want to edit the Pilot Notes that I have downloaded and installed for the below US Fighters so the power setting labels are correct for my set.  I would like the font to be the same if possible.

Below are the actual labels and power plant setting as printed right out of the Pilot Handbooks Power Plant Charts if anyone is interested.  I don't have the manuals for the A-20 nor the C-47.

P-38J-25 Allison V-1710-89 & V-1710-91 18DEC1942

Maximum Continuous   Maximum Cruise

2600  44"  AR                  2300  31"  AL

P-39L-1-BE  Allison V-1710-63  01MAY1942

Maximum Continuous   Economical Maximum Power

2600  37.2"  AR                2300  31"  AL

P-40E-1  Allison V-1710-39 (F-3R) 18DEC1942

Maximum Continuous   Alternative Cruise (Maximum) Power

2600  38.5" AR                2150  34"  AL

P-47D-22 & 28 using the P&W R-2800 "B" Series  01NOV1944  ( for the P-47D-25 thru 35, but in R/L the -22 engines were upgraded to match these specs. w/different model number assigned)

Normal Rated                 Maximum Cruise

2550  42"  AR                  2325  35"  AL

P-51B-5  Packard Merlin V-1650-3  18DEC1943

Maximum Continuous   Maximum Cruise

2700  46"  AR                  2400  36"  AL Low Blower   19,500'

                                      2400  35"  AL  High Blower 30,200'

P-51B-5 & P-51D-15  Packard Merlin V-1650-7  20AUG 1944

Normal Rated (Maximum Continuous)                 Maximum Cruise (Normal Operation)

2700  46"  Run                                                           2400  42"  Run

There are other "cruise" settings such as maximum range, minimum specific fuel consumption etc., but obviously not enough room on pilot notes nor necessary for the distances we fly unless you find yourself really, really low on fuel heading home.  If I am in that situation I open one of the .pdf on my second monitor. 😁

The original pilots notes creator never indicated what font he used, and the files he uploaded were flat files with no layers for me to edit. Thus, his font was embedded into the images.

@marcobona then pointed out to me last March that Veteran Typewriter appears to be the font used, so I’ve been using that font for all newly-released aircraft.

Thanks for the information.

I seem to only be able to open the Pilot Notes in Gimp (never used it before), but not Photoshop.  Is Veteran Font available in Gimp?

In addition to Storbror's original Pilot Notes, I have other Creator Pilot Notes (from these forums) for the planes not covered by the original creator and some planes added to the game later.

I need to edit/make changes to all of the US Fighter Notes to suit me.

Hmmm…I only use Photoshop myself, and years ago I downloaded from somewhere a free .dds plugin for Photoshop so I could open and edit these pilots notes.

I similarly dowloaded the Veteran Typewriter font from somewhere for free, which allowed me to use that font in Photoshop, Word, etc.

@C6_lefuneste has some directions for editing in Gimp in his excellent version of pilots notes here:

I have updated for myself the pilots notes for the 109-F4 to include the DB601E engine variant now being available from 1942 as part of Update 5.506.

Here's a link to my updated pilots notes for the Bf-109 F4:

My apologies for taking more than three weeks after the 6.001 update - team practice and my work running a small nonprofit has consumed most of my play time!

Just as a reminder, the original poster of this thread, Storebror, stopped updating this mod several years ago. Since then, and because I admire and enjoy his original design and approach, I have continued sharing in this thread my own, personal pilots notes images as new aircraft are released, as errors are discovered, as changes are made by the devs, and as engine variants are added.

It's possible @[F.Circus]MoerasGrizzly may have a recent, downloadable compilation of all of Storebror's and my pilots notes. I don't maintain a compilation myself, I just keep sharing here my individual pilots notes as I create or modify them. I'm just an amateur hobbyist, as you can see, who flies in VR so can't easily refer to external data while in a cockpit.

At https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/73855-another-pilots-notes-for-cockpit-photos/ you can find an alternate pilots notes that are probably still maintained by its original author, so probably has them all bundled in its first post, or would be if asked for in that thread.

I also highly recommend @marcobona's  "Great Battles Aircraft Details App" at https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/77832-great-battles-aircraft-details-app/ and his "Flying Circus Airplane Details App" at https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/79430-flying-circus-airplane-details-app/ . His app. helped me understand the cockpit layout for the new planes, and he may update his Great Battles app with what I post below.

Here's a link to my pilots notes for the LaGG-3 4th series:

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/pc5o1cybygk38no8bnvp6/custom_photo.dds?rlkey=uovshx0mfsq1x992i64vlv4qa&dl=0

Download and save into \IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\graphics\Planes\LaGG3s4\Textures\

Here's a link to my pilots notes for the I-153 series:

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/jz3nj8o2dzuq4fac28ljn/custom_photo.dds?rlkey=3k909pymaoh83upyfp5eaq93c&dl=0

Download and save into \IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\graphics\Planes\I153\Textures\

For both of the above, all data is simply taken from each plane's specifications the devs provide in the game.

If I ever make any changes to the above, the above links will still point to the latest versions. Anyone is welcome to share the above images however they like.

New, more informative P-47 pilots notes

I finally decided to try to learn how to fly the P-47, and in doing so I realized the OP's pilots notes for both of our variants didn't include as much information as I personally need to keep those birds airborne until I am shot down.

So, after some study at @Requiem's Air Combat Tutorial Library on YouTube, here's the link to my personalized pilots notes for the P-47D-22:

New, more detailed Hs 129 B-2 pilots notes

The OP's pilots notes are brilliant, but for the Hs 129 B-2 they did not provide me enough information whenever I attempted to fly the Hs 129 B-2 every couple of years (probably why I kept abandoning it).  The view from the cockpit is fantastic in VR, though, so I added the information I personally need to keep it flying before I crash it into the side of yet another tank. 😜

Therefore, in case there are others who would also benefit with more detailed notes, here's the link to my personalized pilots notes for the Hs 129 B-2:

Hello guys, I arranged this amazing mod for my purposes and it is so. It is a sequence of aerobatic maneuvers :

2025_9_8__16_30_7.jpg

There is a way to have the image a little bit larger and in this position, more or less?

Thanks for this mod and yours suggestions!

Clever idea!

As far as I can tell, the only placement and size for our personalized pilots notes is what the developers allow for cockpit photos that come stock with the game. Any modifications to the dimensions and placement in the cockpit would be considered a “mod” that would only be allowed in single player, requiring running the game in “mods on” mode.

The pilots notes we have been sharing in this thread are simply replacements for the stock cockpit photos, and thus limited to the stock dimensions and placement - so they are not considered a “mod” by the game, and thus allowed in “mods off” mode and allowed in all multiplayer servers.

Thanks for reply, pal. For my purposes I will play in single player only, no play in multiplayer servers. I thought was possible to modify the position in a similar way to how to manage cockpit views as explained by LukeFF in the past post below:
