336th_Ripper* Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 @Legioneod and @BlackHellHound1 did you gentleman have to darken the Alpha layer for the Olive Drab sections only to keep the metal look for the rest of the aluminum exposed sections? Thanks

Legioneod Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 Anyone know whats causing this see through exhaust in the skins? I've looked in the alpha and base template but I can't find anything that would be causing this.

I just had that problem, one of the extra dirt stains was causing the alpha to be too black. So, I lowered it, and lowered the opacity on the alpha template. Problem solved Maybe that's what's causing it. To do a quick test, use the colorize option in the blending. If that fixes it, you can disable it, and manually do it.

Here's a couple REAL photos with it. Although, we might agree it could be post-war. Where exactly did you hear this? Ya can't just go making things up! I've seen hundreds of photos of Mustangs. I decided to go through my library. Photos from all of the Osprey series books, photos from the Ethell color series books, Mustang at War, Patton's Eyes in the Sky.....too many to list. Not ONE single photo shows a Mustang with that anti-slip strip. They didn't have it. And of course that photo is post war. It has the Air Force style stars and bars on it and the lettering says that it's the Virginia National Guard. As a matter of fact, that community that they are flying over looks very modern, with all of thoes swimming pools. I'd say that's not even really a military Mustang. Probably a restoration. Yeah, I thought so. Here it is. The Collings Foundation Mustang. You need to learn how to research better than that. 1

Hope to see more 9th airforce aircraft (51,47 and 38) as the 9th fits better with the map (Since they were the onces being based on the continent where as the 8th was based in the UK) 1

DrJester Posted October 17, 2019 Posted October 17, 2019 There are so many variations that... I'm a bit lost. Which one is the correct one? Then I found this picture, and it differs, slightly, from the one I'm painting. Ignore the alpha transparency issue + the metallic look(those are left for last)... 2
336th_Ripper* Posted October 17, 2019 Posted October 17, 2019 @DrJester I am no expert on that plane but that black and white image reveals two tones in the nose ( your yellow and black) but not the tail, so I assume that picture was taken when the tail was bare metal and probably at sone point it was painted yellow. You’d really have to research the history of it to be 100% certain. The net is littered with slightly different paint schemes for so many planes, and that does not necessarily mean that one is right and the rest are wrong, but more about at what priod in time are they capturing the paint scheme. And some might simply wrong. FSX made a recreation of Happy Jack Go Buggy with D-Day stripes on the nose but I am painting it as it appears in my photos further up in this thread after I did some research. Release two versions dilema resolved ? 1
