Well I need to add the me262 to the global list first, which is not in the config file (yet). Something on my backlog. Also thinking about making it so that you can always choose from all planes, but the (generated) AI will stick to the plane set that is defined for the map.

Great utility thank you.

When you say " but the (generated) AI will stick to the plane set that is defined for the map." ... how is this defined by Mission date or some other variable. For instance the date on the Kuban map stops 30/12/1943. So is it possible to get the 262 Flying as Generated AI ?

If you add the Me262 to the fighter list for Kuban, then right now, yes there is a chance that the random AI flies a Me262.

I have used your updated list so is that all that is required ?

Thanks for this tool! Makes it really easy to just generate a mission and get into action quick!

A little n00b question, is it possible to add AI to a player flight in co-op? So the players are part of an AI lead flight, or follow the player leader? I tend to play with just one friend, so we're either just 2 planes escorting a flight, or we have to make it a complete dogfight. Alternatively, a +1 to the request of more flights, I read about your issues with adding more but if you do get around to it it would be appreciated!

Trying to generate a COOP mission, which I have done in the past, and I keep getting an error that "Mission cannot be generated".

No idea what is going on.

Never used this mission generator.  Looks great though!

I'm wanting create a mission using the Kanonenvogel.   Do you just select the Stuka D-3, (and then some armor targets).   And then prior to the launch select the 37mm canons?

When hosting a coop mission, what is the most important from host computer (High CPU clock, amount of CPU threads, RAM memory, Internet broadband)?
Thank you a lot for the software.

High CPU clock, because the AI cycles are running on one core it seems. IL2 AI are using the same FM as humans, which is good, but it does mean higher load.

I selected a cheap i3 (only dual core), but with high CPU clock for my dedi box and it runs great.

Can I run it in a separate PC as a server, I mean, not the one that I'm using to play?

Of course! There is a dedicated server you can use (\bin\game\Dserver.exe), so no need for good graphics card or anything.

I tried yesterday with another mate and we had a blast. It is great. I see a lot of potential for even greater use. I mean creating Scripted Campaigns but .... how? I believe we need further development: including texts, selecting take off bases, selecting objectives for friendly and enemies, etc.

Just some thoughts, Is it possibleto add new  features and make it a Scripted Campaign Generator? Is it worthy? Too complicated or too much work? No idea about the technical part, sorry.

Give it a thought, thanks :)

Thank You so much SYN_Vander !

That was just what I was looking for.

I personally thought the Quick missions generator of DCS was way better than the one from IL-2 BOX.

This sure changes everything ... and in such a powerful yet *easy* way to make it so !

Great stuff !

FANTASTISCH !

You guys are having no issues since the latest update?

I still can't get my install to save a mission I have generated.

Hi,

I use the latest version.

Worked for me.

But it sure does take a while for the mission to be generated, but I guess that is normal !?

Good luck,

Stefaan

Every now and then I have this...

It's usually caused by me editing the conf.ini incorrectly - I assume. Going back to a default conf.ini version helps.

It can also occur 'randomly' every now and then. When re-trying - even without changing any of the settings, it mostly will generate a mission without the error. Yes, that is weird. But not a problem to me, as I do get the result I am after... :) It still is a brilliant piece of software ...

Actually, the mission generation takes seconds; it's the re-saving to binary format (and no-doubt re-indexing etc) that takes some time.

What happens exactly?

Thanks SYN_Vander,

Thought it might be normal, now it is confirmed.

Great utility program, really love it !

I go through the mission generation process as usual, make sure the game path is correct, and when I attempt to save the mission a pop up appears saying "Unable to save mission" or "Mission not saved"  can't remember the exact wording.  I have not tried to add the 262 to the list and have not changed anything in the install of the program.  I deleted it and reinstalled and still the same thing happens.

I'll get a screenshot later on when I am done with things here.

OK here is a screen shot of what I see...

I notice when I set the game folder path that I don't see the same thing as when I just go to the root folders of the game.   I'm lost here.

OK, have it sorted.  Game path issue.  It was seeing too deep into the files, for whatever reason.

Ah computers.

Yeah, I used a standard call for the select folder function, also find it a bit “non intuitive” to know what you have to click. But this is more of a Windows issue! ?

Yup.  And thanks again for this tool.   It makes getting new scenarios for the Pigs to fly easy and quick.

Now to figure out how to put in all the newer aircraft...

Will fly this tonight after work, so I guess I better get back at it.

Thanks for the new config.ini!

Applying it got me thinkin' though: You've got the a/c lists down to the map we select when generating a mission.

That's nice and logical and structured. That's good.

It does have a downside though: In our group (the Dangerdogz) we mostly have all of the a/c, and we would also like to fly the 110 G-2 as a ground attacker on the Stalingrad map. At the moment it's not possible, as it's only available on Kuban map. And vice versa for the 110 E-2.

Could a checkmark 'All aircraft on all maps' be a solution to this "issue"? So you just add all the types to all of the map currently selected?

For sure, I can edit the ini file, but that is a bit tricky (I find myself making typos, or errors in , and "", often only discovered later on :) )  and a new version means I probably have to do it all over again...

Thanks again for this generator, it's a session saver, as I do not need any preparation on selecting missions before the start of a group session, and with a few simple clicks I can tune the number of generated flyable a/c so it exactly suits our needs - at the last possible moment - as some folk just show up or leave mid session ...

Keep up the good work, please!

Yes, I was thinking about this as well. I’m currently busy with some code restructuring (to simplify adding stuff to all maps), but after that I’ll see if I can add such an option.

I edited my version to do this FT.  I can select all the planes on all the maps and all the targets too.

I haven't put the 262 in yet as I notice it occasionally turns up as randomly selected a.i. opposition.  A bit startling when your flying a LaGG:o:.

It would be a very nice option for the stock generator to have as standard - ultimate flexibility.

Quite excited at the thought of what this brilliant generator could do for Flying Circus once the Arras map is released.:salute:

Hello, thank you for the nice app :)

Here's my config, it has all planes available in appropriate slots for both allied and axis for all current three maps.

I DO NOT have:

P-40E-1

MC.202 Series VIII

Ju 52/Зm

Yak-1b Series 127

La-5FN Series 2

so they are not placed although the original codes still exist in the file and can be copied to proper slots if needed.

Maybe this saves somebody's time...

Stumbled on an aircraft spacing issue...

I6YzrD.jpg

the Ju 52s always spawn with their wing tips overlapping, no matter if it's two or six of them, or if they are "on runway" or "parked" as shown.  Then of course they will either not start or they will tangle up in a mess, and never get off the ground, which also keeps their escorts from taking off.  Kuban map.

Came up with a work-around.

Opened the mission in the editor and simply rotated each aircraft 32 degrees to the left, so their wingtips were free and clear, and they take off individually as intended.

Ah, yes the parking pattern was never designed with ju 52 in mind. I used the He-111 I think for max wing span.

Yes sir, no trouble at all with the He 111.

Is there any possibility to add Me262 to the fighter list for Kuban in config.ini so that it can be a flyable plane??

Looks like a great tool Vander - thanks for the effort and support, after looking through this thread.  I will check it out as the BOX mission editor has been a challenge compared to the old IL2/46 (even compared to DCS).

One question - will this mission generator work with Tank Crew (I.e. “flying” tanks instead of planes), and if not, is that something you are considering adding?

Well, not out of the box. For Tank Crew you would need specific "flight plans" for the AI and I haven't looked into what makes a great tank mission.

I am contemplating a "dogfight mode" version and then adding player tanks shouldn't be too hard.
