why is the lag dont have the 37mm cannon allowed when you can fly the yak9t right now kind of weird lag should have the 37 before the yak9t set

Hi Admin,

 

Just wondering whether the game allows for either anti tank mines or ditches?

 

I'm noticing more and more tank players hiding within objectives that then causes friendly fire messages to be given to those attacking the hiding tanks.

 

Therefore, can either the friendly fire messages be removed from ground objectives and the associated penalties, or can you place mines around the objectives to 'spice things up'?

OK, thank you for replying and confirming that nothing can be done.

 

However, one last request, owing to the random nature of some of the spawn areas ( both sides) where a spawn area is surrounded by water, would in be possible just to increase the numbers of tanks in each spawn site?

 

It does become a little tiresome when there are only 2 x Panthers against 15 x Su122 etc. In that there is perhaps only one viable spawn area against three.

I'd disagree in the strongest possible terms about the comment above. 

 

Plus the haze looks great & prevents shimmering / jaggies on the horizon.

 

Plus CAVU gets super boring super quickly.

Server was much more smooth for us yesterday evening, no warping. We still experienced lag when strafing AAA though.

Broken how? At least for us, it makes spotting easier, which is the whole point, as in this sim spotting is the biggest pain. When we originally experimented with it and put it on the server (about a year ago), it didn't introduce any extra stutter. The stutter/lag/warping you see now, is most likely due to the latest patch.

I am one of those tankers who sit in enemy fortifications, but I only stay there long enough to destroy the targets in that or neighboring compounds. It’s pretty much a death trap getting caught there as I have yet to see enemy aircraft hesitant to attack. As a flier I take great pleasure destroying a player tank as I know the amount of effort it takes to get in a good attack position. The game has evolved from the point where there were only a few tanks and the airplanes pretty much ignored them. Now some days it’s it a short trip to the graveyard because there are so many dedicated anti-armor fliers. Makes the game much more challenging. And enjoyable.

(BTW taking a CP should get points. Also an unoccupied cp should be able to be taken by paratroopers.)

Tank warfare is getting more team oriented with dedicated air coverage, spotting and recon cooperation as well as groups of tanks working together. What probably started as an afterthought has become a growing segment of the multiplayer arena. It enables old farts like me with limited flying skills to participate on this really fun server. Kudos to the people at IL-2 and the Finnish Virtual Pilots !

Yesterday evening, in mission#11399 the German Train Station 2 was fully active in the the Stats and NOT on the map (at least, not shown).....

 

Of course, none of the reds could attack it and destroy objects on that Station. This does not help to win and result German made a new advance on the front, gained again an Airfield and ..............so on.

This is this kind of "trouble" that should be solved.

Noticed alot of warping at long range but seemed to go away up close.

 

 

I'm not sure if it's net code or not. 

 

But there's been a few highly suspect moments on the server lately. I don't want to say speed hacks but we can't make sense of a few things while using the aircraft stats.

Station 1 was visible on the map but nothing about station 2 .......at the end of the mission, of course, Station 2 was still at 100% and it is damaging for red side. Result the sector 2 was advancing while reds were almost winners. This is frustrating.

I mean, did you check the mission file? It might be that the icon is missing from that station group.

Nope, I did not check the mission file and even if I did so, not sure I understand that kind of document? You surely are more advanced to understand it.

 

One point is certain, this incident happened at the right time for the blue side.

If it is about the icon missing, the issue will repeat. In such case, could you store the mission files and send them to me?

Yes, it is about the missing icon. Where is stocked the missions files ....may be I can send to you this last one

They should be under <Il-2 installation folder>/data/Multiplayer/moscowwb

Ok, indeed it was a question of missing icons on the station group. It was Semisotka station. It's so close to the map border, that as a fix, I'll just remove the station from use.

 

Edit: Effective from next mission rotation.

EDIT:

i made some changes and tested them, and it seams itworks ok. Its separated from airplanes so it has efect only on tanks and trucks, and server host can set what % he wonts. I will probably add it next week when game gets update and Vaal make new version of stats.

Sorry, if this has been fixed, but I didn't notice it.

 

I copied and pasted this question earlier: "I noticed that when I returned my tank to base, I don't get full credit on the stats page. For example, last night I taken damage in my Pz IV. After repairing my tank, I drove 30 minutes back to base so I could quit the game and get some sleep. I woke up this morning to see who or what was damaging my tank, and I noticed that the stats indicated that I bailed out. I had clearly returned to the spawn point before I quit.  Is there something that can be done to fix this issue? There's no sense in returning to base if one doesn't get full credit for returning. Another issue, along the same line concerns tank spawn. If you take a limited tank, eg Panther, finish mission to change paint, loadout, etc, I always get the error message, "Airfield conditions have changed". I thought someone had jumped in and taken the tank. However, this was not the case. It appears that even if you return to base and click finish mission, you lose that limited tank. Can this be changed or is this part of the mission design? I would like to get clarification so I might pass this on to my squad mates.

 

Another, unrelated idea, is the possible addition of adding points/recognition for capturing the CP while tanking. This one isn't as important, but I think it might encourage more people in capturing the CP."

I think this is normal for this game. When the planes are really far away, and you barely see them as one pixel, the positions are updated less often, and they seem to jump around a bit.

regarding damaged tank i see 5% work (if they didnt changed it ) , here you got damage of 1% and sortie now counts as ok (befor it would count it as destroyed)

regarding tank returning to base/spawn, stats can not know when you get back in tank, i think only benefit of returning is in mission to replenish tank in supply, its mission makers to answer that one.

Also i remenber sometimes i would have "Airfield conditions have changed" message by error in game, and would have to reconect to server to fix it, spawn would have airplanes but i would get that message.

 

For capturing CP, i dont know if this can be done as bonus by stats, ill take a look.

This does not occur on combat box when I fly there. When the server population was maxed out about a year ago, I never experienced disappearing contacts or stuttering. 

Although I will say, after your recent change the stuttering has gone away for me (but contacts still disappear and reappear randomly at a distance.

On another not, I was wondering about the P51 C when it comes out... on your planeset spreadsheet, its slated for planeset #9:

The aircraft was operational from 42 up until the D model came out in mid 44. Could it be introduced along with the P47D-22 on planeset 8 instead so we get a bit more time with it before the D shows up with planeset 10?

Why was I kicked right now? I literally took off and the only thing I can think of is some planes flying in the opposite direction, but they are landing in the wrong direction. We werent even close.

"Jade_Monkey was kicked for taking off without plane available." said the log file... as in, the airfield was out of supply.

Yes. Open the chat as the message can be already faded away when you spawn in.

I can't connect to the server. When I try to join it, I get a "file download in progress" message but I stay on this screen, even if I let the game run for 30 minutes.

When I click on "Cancel", the game does not return to the menu, it seems to crash.

I did manage to join another server though.

This can sometimes happen, when files get corrupt during the download process. What you can do, is to delete the content of your multiplayer dogfight directory.
Just delete all those files in there, but not the directory itself - all the content of the dogfight subdirectory. Next time, when you try to join a multiplayer server, it
will then download the necessary files.

 

It happens to me once in a while too, so I do this procedure and all is fine and dandy.

Despite the manipulation (deleting the contents of the dogfight folder), after 8 minutes of downloading files, I got a return to the menu with the error code #10017: File transfer error."

I'm going to look for it on this side.

 

EDIT :
I checked the integrity of the game files and Steam re-downloaded some files for me. I can now reconnect to the server without any problem.

When you do the edits to medals you could also adjust conditions for some of them in src/custom/report.py to fit your server better then default numbers i set:


- win missions conditions are by default to high for your server, you have 5 win in total in last 3 months tour. 
Having condition for player to participated in 10 win missions for one side is unatainable even if he player whole year on server, maybe change that to 1. 
3 awards to edit: Eastern Front Medal, Medal 'For the Defence of Moscow' and Medal 'For the Defence of Stalingrad'.


- if you dont have many ships in missions, maybe remove that condition for GA player where its set to destroy some number of ships+tanks in one sortie or mission. Also tankmans would be able to get thouse medals then.
4 awards to edit: German Cross in Gold, Luftwaffe Honor Roll Clasp,  Order of Lenin (late), Order of the Patriotic War 1st Class (late)

 

- add pictures to original test awards like fighter_ace, fighter_hero, and mission_hero if you plan to keep them, now they dont have images when they show up.

 

EDIT:

- i see error in tankman_awards.html , in line 19 change tankman_awards to pilot_awards 

Then medals will be lined up correctly like they do for pilots, left to right in mullti rows, insted up to down in one row like its now. ( i fix this in version 2 of awards edits)

 

And also it seams that medals with player/tour type will not work for tank players, player_mission/mission works for both, sortie types also work for both, and vlife will work for both.

i made version 2 that makes most medals work for pilots and tankmans, and fix some errors:
