When I was finished I could not help but making one of my silly fictitious skins on top of that, I'm sorry!  Lt. John "Jack" Torrance. With one confirmed kill; Lt. Torrance was a promising pilot but the harsh weather and isolation of the Aleutian Islands seemed to take hold on him. Unfortunately his plane got lost during a blizzard.

Haha - like it. :salute:

Here's Johnny!

@melkarth

Wasn't she responsible for the UFO sightings in midwest and southern USA in the late 50s as well?

After the fall of USSR some archives were leaked that she tested new espionage planes which could hover over an area and when located by radar

it automaticly went up on high speed for heading than home.

I play in the career of the 126th IAP PVO. I made for myself a set of skins (AH971, AK242-244, AH965-969). They are semi-historical, because in the fall of the 41st the regiment fought on another modification of the P-40. Namely on received from Great Britain second-hand "Tomahawk", i.e. P-40B Tomahawk IIA/B.

Because skins 4K, then for them it is desirable to use the normal map from the template author (ICDP): http://www.mediafire.com/file/3cp7s972b5z9c9n/P40E1_Normal_Map.zip

I like the battered look and the scratches, although I'd like her a little more matte. It's only a personal taste. I've darkened the alpha to check this:

Is the Savoy Hat a personal add-on?  I found this in google. Anyway, it's cool. Good job!

It is controversial, but real that has gone in the desert lost all shine. probably the desert sand is to blame,
Every painting of the aircraft is ground down.

Your skin is so correct!

Amazing work of art Tomi! I like the scratches, wearing and stains. Very impressive!

I have noticed only two tiny drawbacks:

- a visible dividing line in the front wing-fuselage crossing section between textures

- dark brown field borderline on the right side of the upper nose air duct does not tie precisely to other parts of that dark brown patch

But these are only minor things. Overall impression is great!

Yes thanks Tomi…;)...Splendid P40's...:good:

Squirting fuel onto the ground targets and then shooting at 'em so they burn easier?...

I combined 3 existing skins to make this one, I hope original crators don't mind. So credit goes to:

Tomi_099

for his MADCOT (couple posts above) which I used as a base and did very little changes

=TIA=TBear

for original version of this skin, mostly tail and markings

Rothary

for complete sharkmouth

If any of our resident artists are so inclined, we could use some P-40 skins from the 99th Fighter Squadron (Tusekegee Airmen, Red Tails) from their time in Italy when they were still flying Warhawks.

In the first post of this thread, comrade Reflected hung a pack of five skins, included one of Lt. Robert W. Diez (not Deiz), from 99th FS, 79th FG in Italy.  Perhaps I'll give him a wingman soon.

I overlooked that one. Thanks! And if you added a wingman for him, that would be a fine thing indeed. :salute:

Hi, folks

Second Lieutenant (later Lieutenant Colonel) Alva N. Temple flew 120 combat missions over Italy, France and the Balkans. After I painted the box art, I found out that the 99th Fighter Squadron only escorted B-17s and not Liberators, so take this as a poetic licence.  4K skin for our friend @Oubaas

Edit:  Corrected underside color to Azure blue.  ?

Beautiful shark P40 Melkarth, thank you very much!

I would like to ask if there is any chance that you would be interested in painting Maj. Denisov P-40 or 191 iap P-40 n°93 ?

Anyway, soviet and british shark P40s rule!

Thank you for your collection, as a P40 i can say driver i'm already spoiled these days ?
