Yes. The big difference is that some Spit XIV flew for around a month without any machine guns in order to gain more speed for hunting V-1 (although they were also flying some sorties to counter the threat of fighter bombers). So, the plausible unique armament option is 2x20mm cannon.

I think that Fighter Reconnaisance FR MkXIV's might have also had this armament (off the top of my head). I wonder how much weight was saved? I would have thought a couple of hundred kilos (4 x .303 Browings) which is almost the weight difference between a MkIXc and a MkXIVc.... to bring the conversation full circle (well, more of an oval)

 

I hope we get 2 x 20mm as a loadout option, plus a functioning camera in the fuselage, Recon opens up another area for simulation.

I think it is closer to 40kg of guns and 54kg of ammunition (if 300 rpg)... so more like 100 kg saved... but there might also be some slight drag reduction benefits from having the covers fully smoothed over (not sure if this amounts to much). Still... it would be an interesting way to fly a pure cannon Spitfire with exactly half the firepower of a Hawker fighter

 

I agree it would be great if they someday got to a point where they could release photo-recon variants for a bunch of existing aircraft (along with photo-recon gameplay)! One could also use the 'alone unarmed and unafraid' observer/PRU tagline to sell it... make it seem dramatic and war winning in the write up (because, well, photorecon was dramatic and war winning)

Some weights for the guns are:
 

2x20mm Hispano MkII cannon = 297.5lb
20mm ammo (120rpg) = 150lb

 

2x.50cal machine gun = 162.5lb
.50cal ammo (250rpg) = 150lb

 

4x.303 machine gun = 112.5lb
.303 ammo (350rpg) = 93lb

They deserve a good month of January as a holiday. 

We can accept one month of relax if and only if in February starts a hellish program with:

 

• A new update once every 15 days with at least 30 items, and if skipped the next deadline is one with 60 items.
• One plane or vehicle every month, if skipped then two items the next deadline
• One map every quarter
• One campaign at the end of the year.

Thank you devs bringing our dreams to reality.?

I’m curious is there a general and realistic consensus about just what aircraft ( or now with AA trucks,vehicle,) will be included in the next update? I know each of us has a sort of wish list but what will probably show up next? I would think new versions of aircraft ( Spitfire,Focke Wolf, Ju-88 or Mustang..)we already have might be a best guess as they might not require as much modeling, but if we go by what we have actually seen it could be the Typhoon ( which is sorta kinda a “new” version of the Tempest now that I think about it...) as we have seen development images of it not that long ago , along with disappointing news that its introduction won’t be until Spring. Has Jason given us a clue that I’ve just missed?

  Of course the next update might an effects upgrade which would be alright but ....

Last week's DD said the 190 A6 is planned to come with the next update.

Been trying to find some information about operating the XIV because the hype is getting to me. Found this in the pilots notes, sounds like it could have automatic RPM speed control? Probably depends when the early/late divide is?

Well duh! They have captured enough German fighters by the time the XIV was on the drawing table to reverse engineer that remarkable piece of engineering.
