Mysticpuma Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Well this thread is the mid-year update, so not long now to see how much of a difference those months have made to progress in the end of year update 👀
Avimimus Posted October 23 Posted October 23 When were the improvements to the control animations 'walked back'?
Mysticpuma Posted October 23 Posted October 23 (edited) 1 hour ago, Avimimus said: When were the improvements to the control animations 'walked back'? Ages ago. Implemented by @batmacumba they looked great. I think we had them for about a week and then TFS heard they caused issues which weren't (as far as I remember) explained entirely, and they were rolled back. The really smooth control surface animations were showcased in a video from January 2025 and released in an update 5.043 on Feb 11th 2025 and we're removed in the 5.046 update on April 3rd 2025: Maybe they will reappear in the next update....one day. This info could likely still be added by respondents editing their post to so indicate. That would at least provide some idea as to who's who🤔

For now I am practicing with Blender, here a Canadian ambulance made using a tutorial and using Blender and Substance painter: Trying to get that desert vibe, this was all done in Blender: Current project while we see what happens next, Victorian buildings, I thought this might be handy as much of the major civic buildings in the desert region of the time would have most likely been of French or British colonial architecture: Anyway, here is hoping I get to actually contribute one day and we all get to fly over something I created. Maybe you guys looking in could pick up Blender while you wait and join me in doing a few tutorials as we wait patiently for the next update. Take care and be safe. Wishing you all the very best, Pete. Edited October 25 by Missionbug 7 1
AtomicP Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Lovely work @Missionbug! I messed about with Blender for a while but the texturing bit always trips me up. I looked at Substance Painter but either way (outright purchase or subscription) it was more than I wanted to spend on an occasional hobby. 1

major_setback Posted October 25 Posted October 25 I have been part of TF since before Blitz. I'm not one of the earliest group of members; I joined slightly later than that. I did skinning for BLITZ (Bleheims, Beaufighters and a few others). I made most of the skins and default skins for Desert Wings, (including updating some of the older default skins), corrected the colours of all of the national markings (roundels, crosses, etc), and altered the colours/ brightness on all of the in-game unit markings (example: edelweiss nose marking on Ju88). I made the unit markings for the US P40 and Spitfire and Hurricane squadrons (nose markings, such as Eagle squadron). After DWT I corrected the shape/style of the RAF code letters - on the sides of aircraft - and the style of the serial numbers (near the tail). I've worked on some of the weathering layers, and also made some of the stencil warning lettering (example: 'lift here'). 5

343KKT_Kintaro Posted October 26 Posted October 26 Thank you Setback, but the problem is that we don't know what's going on, we don't know where Cliffs of Dover is going to.
Buffo002 Posted October 26 Posted October 26 I think that everyone who is currently working on CoD mods or modifications doesn't have time to inform here in the forum what they have done, because everyone is working on their own modifications or work and doesn't have time to contact anyone and discuss how far they have progressed. There is simply no one from the team here who would regularly inform about changes, because I don't think they have time for that. But I believe that it is still being worked on, and when you do it in your free time, it is time-consuming. 2
Dagwoodyt Posted October 26 Posted October 26 A chronic issue is that of individuals having unstated relationship to TFS or its' volunteer contributor group implying knowledge of working conditions within TFS management or its' volunteer staff. I have no idea how many TFS staff or contributors there are. Only TFS management may know for sure and even then that number could be in constant flux. Further, NDA's limit discussion. That's why no one is willing to share the instructions given to "beta" testers. As has been stated ad infinitum, there are no time constraints on communication because volunteers work in their leisure time. There must be some funds received from Fulqrum for sales of CloD so at least one person has to be getting paid and would have comprehensive knowledge of what's really going on. Whoever that is isn't talking😉

But I believe that it is still being worked on, and when you do it in your free time, it is time-consuming. I mean there's misinformation and ridiculous misinformation. @AWC is literally that person, has posted multiple updates and the only reason there aren't more updates is because no-one in the team can be bothered to contact him....their own marketing and PR man. It's a continuous issue of anyone taking on the poison chalice of PR for the team, but please don't run the same diatribe that is used to cover up the lack of news. Are you really telling the readers here that it is not possible for one single member of the team to sit in front of a screen, tap "Print Screen" and send an email in no more than 3 minutes? Really? All the members and not one can do that? Nor even once per week....not once? Come on, please stop with this "running interference" for them. Anyone who has been here for decades knows it's much higher up in the team from where the apathy pervades in passing information to what's left of the consumer base. What is clear also is the steady diminishing of the flame that once burned bright, into the embers we know cling to so desperately. The only ray of light recently is @paul_leonard who actually shows up to be counted and explains the mission building he has undertaken and requests assistance working out the Ai. In one of those updates he confirmed that there was an issue that needed coding help and that would report it back to the team.....and what was the result? Radio silence from within the TFS Towers. I'll repeat what I said before, and ask you, are you truly telling us that in the months since the last news on aircraft and feature development, that not one single member has been able to hit a print screen button and email @AWC ? Really? So with all of the following, not one email? Copied and pasted from a previous post: "On a bit of a whim, I decided to read through the TFS Notes section and this section, and after seeing the dates the threads were posted, and the current state of play, it feels like nothing has changed. I read 'hopes' and 'would likes' in so many of them, but realistically, as an end user, what has anyone seen changed from any of them? As it stands, we have seen a Typhoon in the game...and that's it. Nearly two years since FaF was officially announced. New Aircraft Focke-Wulf 190A-1 Focke-Wulf 190A-2 Focke-Wulf 190A-3 Messerschmitt Bf-109G-2 Messerschmitt Bf-110F-1 Messerschmitt Bf-110F-2 Junkers Ju-88C-6 Junkers Ju-88A-4 Spitfire Mk VC Spitfire Mk VC 'Clipped Wing' Spitfire Mk IXA P-51A-83 P-51A-91 B-17E Wellington III Beaufighter VIC Typhoon Mk IA Typhoon Mk IB ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- So how many of those aircraft has anyone seen fully working, flying, in cockpit (moving) apart from the Typhoon? Still after a decade since it was announced, no VR available. Still after six-years, no sign of Truesky being available Still two-years since the move began to Speedtree 8.42, and it has already been stated that they will then move to Speedtree v9 as it wasn't ready when they started moving from 5.2 to 8.42, no sign of an updated Speedtree being available. Further to that, the initial excitement of the Discord Channel where TFS members like @batmacumba were very active, supportive and interested in player feedback, has fallen silent. @AWC has stated we are getting a May update, but let's be honest, 6 months after FaF should have been released, if there isn't a truly significant update showcasing a lot of progress, then we are effectively as much in limbo as we have ever been. I read over and over again, "Work continues"......but what work? Is it time for some honesty on the overall situation and likelihood that v6.0 may never see the light of day (at least in most of our lifetimes!) and if it does....the chances of v6.5/7.0/8.0 are just wishful thinking? This negativity is only brought on by the cycle of; New community manager, gets involved, stirs up conversation. Gets left in a vacuum....forum dies over and over again." We got the mid-year update, and got no images or video showing any of the aircraft above in-game, so as it stands, just an Alpha Typhoon, and that's it. Edited October 27 by Mysticpuma Typo 3

Avimimus Posted Tuesday at 05:37 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:37 PM I am treating speculation about finances which doesn't have evidence provided as violating rule 18 and rule 21: Cliffs of Dover may no longer be affiliated with 1CGS, but that doesn't prevent us from applying the forum rules to products produced by other developers. It is only fair. Note: I have no information myself nor have I received a request from anyone. This should be seen as only relating to conduct on the forums, and consistent moderation. It has nothing to do with the developers.
Mysticpuma Posted Tuesday at 05:49 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:49 PM (edited) I assume that @AWC would love to post more content, but even the PR manager of TFS has only posted on the CloD forums twice since June. Times must be tough behind those closed doors. Edited Tuesday at 05:50 PM by Mysticpuma

If I were them, I would probably only post in order to recruit more people... and posting in a place where the reaction is several people talking about vapourware isn't good for recruitment. So it might even be better to reach out directly to potential team members via a recruitment officer, rather than post about it. The best strategy might be to just not share any information until three months before release. I can't really see a benefit to greater information sharing than that. 4 1

clod65 Posted Wednesday at 12:07 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:07 AM Give it time, give it a chance, go play with your kids if you have them, do anything to get your mind of the next installment of clod. personally for me, I've been watching movies on the bigscreen meta quest 3 VR. Setup a dedicated lan server, for dogfighting, anything to amuse yourself with. 1

clod65 Posted Wednesday at 09:29 AM Posted Wednesday at 09:29 AM don't know, this is what i've been doing creating multiplayer server, dogfighting and recording videos and uploading, i'm just enjoying the classic game which has still much to offer, I like it because of the English map, is so much better imho, sometimes we miss what we already have infront of us:- 4 1

paul_leonard Posted Friday at 10:10 PM Posted Friday at 10:10 PM If I recall something, the Blitz version is based on an older “original” version as the source code to the final “original” version was lost. So there are some “improvements” that the Blitz version had to rebuild, or haven’t implemented. For example I think the final original version had telemetry output for shakers and such that was lost to the TF starting point. It’s kind of cool that we have choices… although some would naysay. 1
clod65 Posted Saturday at 04:53 AM Posted Saturday at 04:53 AM (edited) @major_setbackI have both blitz and the original, I prefer the original because of the English Landscape, more colorful and vibrant and the channel with the soapy waves. Edited Saturday at 05:52 AM by clod65 1
clod65 Posted Saturday at 11:26 AM Posted Saturday at 11:26 AM (edited) ok just did quick mission, actually recorded it but not sure if i should upload, I picked hurricane against bf109, I just dodged it for 5 minutes then it started to head to france, at which point i took shots at it not hitting it of course to see what it would do, and it swirved around trying to dodge me, i'm guessing this is because a waypoint is set for it to go back to france. I did do another mp scenario, spawned in not to far from bf109, I didn't try to hit it, it got me though...then went back in against the same bf109 and it did not react, as if i wasn't there, you definitely have to start the server again with new planes.
