Rudini Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Hi there! @LukeFF @Skycat1969 @migmadmarine and others i wonder if the comunity could help me with a request: is there a possibility to fly in group strength? perhaps by playing around in the mod configs? for example in BoBP in autumn 44 with a Luftwaffe unit, for example III./JG 27? after the increasing and renumbering a group had almost 68 aircraft on strength with 4 squadrons each. there must be a possibility, because a DFW C.V unit has only 5 aircraft and crew in this game and the Soviet units have some 30+ aircraft and crew on strength. Thanks for the help and best regards, Rudini With EMG you could try to create a intercept mission with a 12x FW190-A8 interceptor formation, escorted by 12x BF109-G6AS. Flying in a real Gruppenformation with 3 or 4 squadrons is normally not possible. By modifying the default Arty Spotting Flash script to a Interceptor control ... mod you could direct multiple squadrons to selected grid locations to intercept bombers. For example By increasing the grid size to ca. 10x10km or more you could cover an area of ca. 80x80km, mabe to protect a town. This is very complex because each pilot career is based on very, very many small settings files. I never dared to modify a pilot career because I never had the overview which settings files are required for which purpose. The structure seems to me even more complex than DGEN of 1946. I can only suppose that increasing the number of pilots / unit and increasing the number of missions / per day could be possible with the current pilot-career system. Your 2 last suggestions would mean to modify the whole pilot career system to use use per unit subunits with a hierarchy: Group, Squadron, flight. I suppose this is with the Great Battles (RoF WW1) engine absolutely not possible (But it is of course a good suggestion!). I suppose that this will be implemented in Korea. In respect of the possibilities of pilot career I would ask Sevenless, I think he has much knowledge in this topic. But it is always interesting make experiments with ME. One possibillity to add command functions is to use flash scrips. But because I am not a programmer I only try to use the existing flash script for arty spotting with 8x8=64 command functions (MCU of the ME). So at the end I would say, that it could be possible that the Player (Group Commander) could send by using the flash script 3 or more squadrons 3x12=36 planes to predefined ca. 8x7=56 15km Attack Area commands to search and attack air targets / ground targets. And in some respect these plane could fly together from one grid location to the next. But they will never fly together in real formation. And I am 100% sure this will be never implemented in the pilot career due to the extremly high costs to adapt the complex pilot career system. So this only with handmade modifications / missions. And for me another topic: What about FPS if I send 3 full squadrons vs a similar number of enemies? Edited December 13, 2024 by kraut1
