Rudini Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Hi @all, my Mods don't work anymore. My script folder disappeared. I made the mistake to delete and reinstall il2 (same place/folder). Any known workarounds or troubleshoots? Thanks and best regards Rudini
czech693 Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 Did you save the folder that you installed the mods on? If not you'll have to reinstall the mods in a folder. What mod installer are you using? JSGME?
Rudini Posted March 27, 2024 Author Posted March 27, 2024 hi, yes i have saved the folder. and yes i am using jsgme. i used this download link. https://flight-sim.org/filebase/index.php?entry/1356-jonesoft-generic-mod-enabler-jsgme/ it worked in december pretty well. but now there is no more script folder. if i use jsgme then all skins ans new created folders appear in the main il2 folder not any more in the script folder.
czech693 Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 When you say script folder are you referring to the data/LuaScripts folder? Is the MOD folder and JSGME.exe both in the main folder Battle of Stalingrad (or Great Battles, Moscow, etc), and not in the data folder? You said the skins and newly created folders appear in the main IL2 folder. They usually go into the Data folder within the main folder.
Rudini Posted April 1, 2024 Author Posted April 1, 2024 @czech693 hi, im not refering to data/LuaScripts MOD folder and JSGME.exe are in the same "Battle of Stalingrad" folder they dont go in the data folder, as usually. they go in the main "Battle of Stalingrad" folder this is what i have done today: uninstalled all installed in another directory tried jsgme mod "Map-No Units": and it works tired jsgme mod "Mig's BoM skins config V1" to change tactical code color, and placed his skins by hand ("Mig's BoM skins") in the proper folders: and it does not work then i found a path in a mod folder and now i remember the missing folder in the "Battle of Stalingrad" installation: \data\scg\scripts its the scg folder itself that is missing. @LukeFF @Skycat1969 @sevenless help! propably the common gamer got their updates on older installations. but i have installed and uninstalled the game since december a few times. and each new installations skips to install the folder/path: \data\scg\scripts. so my mods, especially the important tactical codes and skin changes do not work.
Stonehouse Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 A stock install does not have the folder data\scg. The scg folder is pretty much where just the careers and QMB configuration lives and is held in scg.gtp and the data\scg folder only exists after you install a mod that has something to do with careers or QMB. 90% of mods will create folders and files in folder data\luascripts. However, after a stock install you will only have the snapviews folder and CBalancer.cfg in data\luascripts. It sounds to me like you have incorrectly setup one or more of the mods. It appears that you have installed JSGME correctly since you say the Map-No units mod works and that also indicates that mod was correctly installed. It also indicates that you have mods enabled in game options. 1 hour ago, Rudini said: tired jsgme mod "Mig's BoM skins config V1" to change tactical code color, and placed his skins by hand ("Mig's BoM skins") in the proper folders: and it does not work If you have correctly installed this mod then you should just have to enable it in JSGME and should not have to place skins manually. Perhaps a screenshot of the folder structure of your mods folder would help people help you. At the moment you have not given enough information to allow anyone to trouble shoot what you are doing.
Rudini Posted April 1, 2024 Author Posted April 1, 2024 Hi, yes, the mods folder: the main game folder, installed today: before not even Maps-No Units Mod not even worked. now a Script folder appears. and this is how it looks after activating the skins mod not-manually, but via jsgme directly: as you can see there are new aircraft folders in it, messing up all the clean structure the script folder is not affected by the game, nothing in it works
czech693 Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 It appears that JSGME was working if you got a mod to install. I think the problem is how the mods are installed in MODS. You've got individual aircraft folders in your main game folder. They shouldn't be there. When you download a mod you have to check that it has the correct folder tree set-up. If it doesn't then you have to creat the folder set-up. Example for installing skins: IL-2 Sturmlovik Great Battles/data/graphics/skins/bf109e7. Some downloads are already set-up for JSGME, but some are not. I use 7-Zip to unpack the downloads. I select the download and it opens and I can see what's inside. If there is a data folder visible then it's already set-up for JSGME. If it's a .dds, .txt or some other item and not a folder then it isn't set-up yet.
Stonehouse Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 (edited) As czech693 says, it's how you have installed the mods in your mod folder. In 99% of the case your mods should have the structure below. The exceptions are mods for things like the Easy Mission Generator by Vander that sit outside the game. Mods for actual game files need to conform to the structure below so that when enabled in JSGME the contents of the mod folder will be copied to the correct location within the data folder under main game folder. If you get the structure of the mod folder wrong, then when enabled stuff gets copied to the wrong location under the game and the game will not see the mod and instead will use stock info. You need to disable all your mods in JSGME and make sure they are correctly installed in the mods folder before you enable them. your MODS folder -mod name -data -some other folder such as luascripts and within this folder files and sub folders containing the mod contents So for example using my mod folder and the AAA mod Now drilling down into the bots folder, you can see the files containing the altered versions of game files plus a few custom files I have added to the mod. When enabled all these files need to get copied to IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\LuaScripts\Worldobjects\bots for the mod to work.
