they are beautiful what's wrong? but I wonder if there are only you 3-4 who make skins and that's it, because when I open the hsd there are always and only you who put skins to download, do I have any other site that I don't know? congratulations for the skins are excellent, as always!

S! Cippoz,

There was an error on one of the stugs where the schurzen number did not match the chassis number. I've fixed that issue yesterday, so the update should be available soon.

I don't believe there is another service out there like HSD where folks can download skins. Of course, I could be wrong. HSD, for me, is convenient because it saves space on my media server.

As for other skinners, there are a lot of folks that use HSD to upload skins. Most, however, are devoted to skinning aircraft. The tanker community is very small compared to the aircraft side of IL2. There are other skinners out there who are more talented than myself that prefer to host their skins. You may have to contact them individually if their hosted skins are not available in this forum.

I enjoy painting tanks while I learn more about how to use Photoshop. It provides me an outlet from the stresses of work as I try experiment with different techniques. Even the failures, which are a lot, provide me with insights to be a better painter. I give full credit to the kind people in this forum for helping me to become a better painter by making constructive criticism.

Thanks for the compliment, btw.

thanks again to you, that's okay, it was just to know, I hope you never disagree, I think everyone likes it a bit, but I don't think it's that simple to make skins from what I understand! so .....thank you! ps:the gray and yellow stug is wonderful.

S!,

I'm attempting to paint all the tanks we have in a winter wash paint scheme. The idea is to create a WinterWash skin pack for HSD.

The lighting, textures, and parts play a big part in creating these winter skins. A lot of different types of "blending" took place. Some look pretty good, while others seem a bit off. Anyhow, I'm presenting for you review some of the tanks I managed to skin this week. I need to finish the t-34, KV1, Su122 & 152. I may go on to try to skin the AA vehicles, but we'll see if it's worth the time depending on the responses to the presented tanks.

I found very few actual pictures/plates of these tanks. The pics I did find did not actually show insignia, but the writer cited the pics. I also used a little creative judgement because of the poor picture quality. I say that these tanks are historical, but I make no claim to the accuracy of the data I used.

PS, I noticed that I left the black 4 on the Tiger. I'll remove the number.

My only comment would be that if the body of the PzIII is splattered with that much mud then the road-wheels, drive sprocket, and idler should be done similar to what you have on the PzIV.

As always, for me it would be nice to see the tracks with a bit of snow automatically adhered to them for the winter scenarios.

Noted. Thanks for the feedback Major. I'll go back and try to add some more detail to the wheels.

As for the tracks, I don't know where those are located on the template. I've searched, but I'm guessing they're one of the many .gtp files? I tend to avoid messing around w/.gtp as I don't use mods and don't want to screw up my install.

Beautiful, as always, the winter skins are also all used and dirty! I recommend some skins that just came out of the factory are beautiful, but I don't think they would last that long, and a dirty and a little destroyed used wagon is much more real and even more beautiful to see, I also hope that sooner or later you will make a package like this winter one, with the camouflages with the gray "42" base, it came after the yellow "42-43" base you could also make packages of the various regiments, that is - das reich - grossdeutschland - leibstandarte - etc. etc. it wouldn't be a bad idea, yes I know, I'm traveling with my imagination but it would be great. Have you seen tommy? you two should join efforts, he made a beautiful panzer 4 africa korps, and if I understood correctly, he would like to make a mods to replace part of the numbers available to put on the tanks of the game, i.e. red and black with a white border, which according to I am the most beautiful! It's a fantastic idea I've been thinking about since I got the game a year ago. go on like this. thank you very much  PS:  I hope to help you with these images.

See if this “Track Mod” solves the problem for you.

I use it on occasion and it seems to work ok.

S! @CIPPOZ,

For all the Axis tanks above, I used as default, the early gray base. I then blended each layer above to allow the grey to come through randomly. Each tank model is different in the way it reacts to the in-game light which causes some of the colors to be more distinctive at times. Of course, each of the models I painted could use some work, but I like organic randomness of colors that blending creates.

As for artist like @Tomi_099, @SR603-Flowbee, @MajorMagee,and other skinners, I welcome them to take whatever skins I've created and add to them their own special touches. I don't quite understand how alpha channels work in terms of predicting "shine" on tank skins. Its seems, in my opinion, to be very random with a lot of trial and error. I think of myself as a generalist when it comes to painting. As my skills increase over time, I'll probably start taking more time learning the fine art of detailing. I have a long way to go before I'm at the level of Tomi or Flowbee. We are a small community, so I welcome anyone that wants to build upon the work I submit.

BTW, I've never seen that plate of Carius before today. What I find very interesting is the victory rings on this plate. I've never seen a real photo of his tank depicting that style of markings on the barrel.

S! @352ndOscar,

I'm tempted to try this mod. However, in the past when I've fooled around with mods, it seems to make a mess of my install. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but it causes me to be paranoid when installing mods. I may give it a shot, but I'll have to make a copy of my install before I give mods a shot.

Tanks aren’t supposed to be “clean”.  I like them both, but, I lean towards the dirtier Number 2 choice.

S!,

I started playing around creating some new brushes in Photoshop. My goal was to create a brush which would produce "bleeding" edges like one would find in watercolors. My thought was that in the field, crews would have to improvise using water instead of paint thinner to mix with paint. This would produce random areas of paint density. This is my attempt at mimicking that effect. If you look closely, you'll see the paint edges bleed, as well as, the paint appearing to have different density where the brush strokes overlap. BTW, this tank is based on Blk_323_10th_SS_Pzr_Div_Frundsberg. This particular plate did not have bleeding edges, but a more traditional stripe pattern with defined edges. The colors and pattern are historic if the plate can be believed, as well as, the unusual arrangement of insignia, e.g. small call number, SS badge location, and crosses.

I'll post this on HSD soon. I know, I still haven't posted the winter skins yet, but I'll get around to it.

HB

PS. Well, I thought instead of putting it off, I went ahead and uploaded the Winter Wash skins, as well as, this panther and the 5th SS Pzr Div Kovel skin to HSD. That's eight skins for today. ;)

I'm going to start another panther which has an unusual color palette and scheme. I thought I'd show my typical photoshop workspace. Most of the time I only have 2 panes open, but I thought I'd show how I look at the overall painting. This allows me to align edges a little better, but as most of you have seen, I can't get the edges to match 100%.

Bonjour,

In these difficult cases, I copy a part, resize it by noting the % and overlay it . then I move it back and I adjust. not easy , very long but works well often enough.

But I haven't skinned a tank yet(I just started a panther) , because I find that the uwmap are very complicated, certainly made in a hurry, not like the planes.

I admire the tank skinners in il2 , for this difficult job.

S!,

I finished my latest panther. I used some advice from @SR603-Flowbee on how to create metal damage. It's not Flowbee standards, but it's a good start for me.

This skin is based on PzV G from the 116th Pzr Div. Germany, 1945.

The 116th Panzer Division was then moved to Kleve on the Dutch border, where it fought counterattacks and defensive battles in the ‘Battle of the Lower Rhine’ from 12 February to 9 March. The fighting was against a mixture of forces from the U.S. 9th Army, which was advancing from the south, the 1st Canadian Army, and the British XXX. Corps in the north, took place.
In the process, the 116th Panzer Division found itself in a dangerous position when it became trapped in the Wessel pocket and had to withdraw across the Rhine on March 5 before the bridge behind it was blown up.

I'll upload this to HSD soon.

HB

PS. See the previous post of the plate I used to paint this skin.

S!,

In case any tankers that happen to fly are interested, I'm going to try to create some aircraft skins in the future. Here is a link to my current project:

For now, the skins I'm doing are for JV44 members, but I'll be uploading them to HSD for all to use. In the future, I'll try to recreate more accurate aircraft skins as the JV44 skins will be generic works of fiction.

If anyone is worried, I still enjoy skinning tanks, but I wanted to take a break from them for a bit. I'm sure I'll come back to tank skinning if I come across some really interesting camo combinations.

Just updated some plane skins to mimic the JV44 Dora. You'll find previews here:

I'll probably do some twin engines, but they will not be as elaborate as the fighters. When I'm done, I'm going back to tanks. I found some interesting color schemes for the PzIII ;)

Do you even read these posts?  And when you do, is it necessary for you to do nothing but demand in one hand and admonish in another?

Had you taken the time to read ALL of this thread, you would know that HB had said - numerous and multiple times - that his skins are only available on
“HSD’.

Here, let me help you find what you’re looking for since you are unable to follow instructions:

How about you take some time to make yourself aware of these things before you randomly post stupid stuff in a post.

first of all, I don't have time to read everything, because I work and have other commitments, then hsd, I've been using it for more than a year, and that particular skin "panzer 4" isn't there, but then what do you want from me?
