Updated this panther. I previously put in the wrong color plate from a panther that's very similar to this one...nearly identical to be honest. Anyhow, I left the opacity at 100% to bring out the colors more. I may change it, but I like the way the colors pop.

fantastic thank you, I'm very pleased with your availability, really out of the ordinary! Returning to our panzers, in my opinion the colour of the panthers seem to me a little too coloured, perhaps a little more used worn, discoloured but not too much "I also like colours that show" perhaps it would be better... it is also true that seeing them in photos and then using them is different, in any case, you are very good and thank you again. "it's also very nice what's underneath in the panther 201 illustration"

@CIPPOZStill plugging away at trying to get the white wash to look proper. I added some blending and decreased the opacity a bit. This is an improvement IMHO. I'll continue to play around with the white wash, but I believe I'm getting closer to releasing something soon.

A quick flip through my reference pictures of East Front Tigers indicates that early in the winter through February when the snow blanketed the ground the white paint pretty evenly covered up whatever grey or camo paint was under it. It was only later in March, when the snow started thinning out and the cold rains caused the mud to bleed through in places that the white had worn away enough that the underlying finish started showing through in patches.

You gave me an idea that I tried and thought it turned out pretty good. I still need to work on it, but I think this may work out in the end. Here are some pics of my last panther in which I applied some blending. I think it gives the panther the worn white wash look w/ a lot of the white paint missing.

 

Thoughts?

Hi you can also upload the tiger over the panther, they are beautiful and used!! Yeah!

I’ll gladly take both of these and put them to work in the Losheim Gap with some SS.s.Pz.Abt’s, maybe some Furher Bregeit as well……

 

P.S. You could do this effect over the Tri-Color Disruptive and Hinterhalt camos as well…..

@352ndOscarI've got several color plates that show various forms of Hinterhalt (ambush). Some are the disk pattern, some are the disruptive pattern accented by contrasting dots, e.g.  yellow dots on brown, green dots on yellow, etc. and different shapes of triangles in place of dots. I'll find a plate that I think is interesting and give it a try. I'm going to work on the WW tiger & panther for a bit more, as there's some things on them that don't look quite right, to me.

I played around a little today w/ the both the Tiger and Panther White Wash versions. While not perfect, I'll probably make a couple of corrections, but this is where I'm at for the time being. If there are any suggestions to improve these skins, please post them below.

Merry Christmas all!!,

Just something fun for the holiday tanking season. I'm uploading this skin tonight in the hopes that it will be available for Christmas afternoon/evening. The name of this tiger is Santa Claws. It was last seen crossing the frigid plains of the Mid-West, on Christmas morning, at a very slow pace due to the blizzard like conditions. He seemed to be lacking a little reindeer power. Must be all the extra ammo, err toys, he's carrying.

This skin was a test. I can upload it to HSD in a few days if not sooner. I like to make my vehicles weather worn, too. Sometimes, I just get side-tracked by real life issues (especially for the last 2 months)

 

With the kind assistance of @Wardog5711 and his efforts to get us the latest StugIIIg template, I managed to throw together a couple of stug skins. These are somewhat generic as I used some camouflage wraps I created earlier and applied them to the stug template. These still need work, but I thought I'd post them for review. Both skins are incomplete as I need to add more texture to them, but it's a decent start.

PS, if anyone has some good stug III photos, prints, or images, please pass them my way. I'm going to start digging into this SPG since it was such a workhorse. The template seems to be a bit easier to work with vs PzIII or IV.

hello these are some colours for stug and not only, you know what I have noticed that there are almost always the three colours, but why don't you also make them in two colours, like yellow and brown, or yellow and green, or grey and green or brown like they used on the panzer4- I have also put some ferdinand because the skins are almost all the same and it would be nice to have more, what can I say good work.....thanks you are great .

Wow!! Thanks for the suggestions Cippoz. I think TC2 will be out before I could ever come close to painting all those tanks

Given the Stalingrad, Moscow and Ardennes environments, you might want to consider adding in some all-winter camo and white-wash ambush camo versions as well.  There are plenty of examples on the interweb so I won’t clutter up the thread.  Flowbee and Tomi have made a good start along these lines but variety makes things much better. (Un-numbered versions as well, of course.)

I'll give the white wash a shot. It's much tougher, IMO, than normal camouflage. Now that I've got the official template, it should be a little easier. I've got 4 stug skins cooking now, with & without #s. If I can create a good winter template, I'll be sure to add them.

Ok. After a lot of trial and error, I think these Stug III G skins might pass the bar, although it's a low one with me One skin features my attempts to include Zimmerit, which is a pain. Depending on the light, it looks good, while other times, it's muh   As always, critiques are welcomed. I also redid a PzIV for @CIPPOZ. This PzIV will featuer w/wo zimmerit. If there aren't too many issues, I'll upload them to HSD when I can...probably late tomorrow.

Another Stug from the profiles that Cippoz provided. I'll need to upload these skins as I didn't have time last night. I also forgot to mention that I plan on creating "no number" skins for each. Additionally, I doubt I'll include the zimmerit skins for now. IMO, they look odd and don't give a good representation of zimmerit depth. I guess that means back to the drawing board for zimmerit. I haven't quite figured out how to create a proper height map using my zimmerit layers. If anyone knows how to create a good 3d type height map, please let me know. I'm obviously doing something wrong.

Ok, I uploaded the Stug skins & the PzIV to HSD. Remember, it can take up to 48 hours before the skins are available (vetting time). All the skins have numbers on them. I'll create no number skins and upload them soon. I'm going to change direction a bit and try to create a good winter wrap for tanks.

@352ndOscarMy attempt at doing some white wash on the Stug III G. It's going to take some practice, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I think I need to add a little more white to give this tank a little more "pop". If these techniques continue to pan out, I may go back and create a white wash version for each tank.

Those are definitely on the right track.  A lot of the WW’s were just a bucket of watered down white paint slapped on with makeshift brushes.  Then as they moved through the trees and bushes the paint was scraped/scratched off.  Remember, these tankers weren’t professional painters - they just put it on over what was underneath and only where they could reach.

Unfortunately, our winter sim world consists of 3 inches of undisturbed snow everywhere except the ice packed roads. Without any signs of exposed soil anywhere, it makes the dirty running gear look a bit out of place most of the time.
