Looks like he has an account. Hasn't been active for quite some time, though.

Methalushco's missions and the Crop Duster doing cartwheels in his IL-2, literally.

Jane's WWII Fighters followed by European Air War then M$ Combat Flight Simulator 2 then I found the IL-2 demo.  I loved the IL-2 and kept coming back to the P-39 trying to figure out how to avoid flat spinning the darn thing.  I finally found myself just flying around the map and being amazed at the graphics and FM fidelity.  As soon as the game came out I bought it and within a week I stopped playing anything else.

Eventually I met Zeus-cat and Dubbo who taught me the FMB.  We formed The Hellhounds squadron and mostly flew P-to-P with me hosting most Saturday nights.  ZC, Dubbo and Quazi (the tech moderator on the Ubsoft Forums), met up several times including once at the USAF museum in Dayton OH.  I met a lot of great folks online and in real life.

Later Gamekeeper offered me a position as Admin over at Mission 4 Today (a post I still hold) but I slowly came over here and except for the occasional foray in B.A.T. with some friends and Admining at M4T, I am here to stay.

Returning after a decade away. Having fun flying again

I started with the original IL-2 and Forgoten Battles about 20 years ago (on keyboard). Then Pacific Fighters and first cheap joystick. Couple years later LOMAC and after that a long break. Untill about three years ago when I discovered Great Battles and later DCS.

I've posted the IL2:1946 Mugshot Poster before in a similar thread.

Here it is again but slightly edited: Forgot to add LeBillfish but she is part of the group now (right side at the bottom, with sunglasses)

Spotted a BlitzPig or two in there, including myself.

I’ve been on this forum longer than any other since I first joined one in 1999. I’ve always been Rjel for better or worse. Met some pretty cool folks along the way. Met  some of the other kind too. This place still seems fresh after all this time. That’s a credit to the members of the community and the team for all their hard work.

Flew several times on WarClouds server before the mods hit in 2008 IIRC. Spent most of my time on Battle-Fields servers and on organized events.

Still use the same callsign to this day. Mostly thanks to IL-2 1946. :)

Look at all those radio-friendly faces.

So many strange and weird looking faces in there... no way I'd ever let them look after my cats!

Thank you IL-2. If not for you, these people would be out on the streets scaring the children.

Let's see if you can pick me out of that photo montage.

I used for it a picture of you standing in a garage or something like that. Wasn't that picture taken by a student photography or a professional one for a project?

That is what I remember of the Ubizoo thread.

You might look like Santa but on that same 'mug shot collection' the guy on the far right in the middle resembles Ron Jeremy.

Wow, good memory!  Yeah it was taken for his photo class at the University.  Sadly, I am even more grey now.

BTW, that amphibious tractor is owned by a local collector, and is one of about half a dozen that are still operable.

It appeared in Clint Eastwood's 'Flags of Our Fathers", and still wears the Iwo Jima paint scheme from the movie.  I'll post a better shot of it later tonight.

S! all,

Cut my teeth on Microsoft Fighter Ace, Jane's WWII Fighters, European Airwar, and Microsoft Combat Simulator. As one of the admins, and principle map designer of over 200 Warclouds missions, I had a great time just trying to create new and exciting missions. I enjoyed the input from the community to make better missions. Some of the ideas were dudes, but a great number of them were very popular and exciting. Some missions, in my opinion, were classics. So much so, I see elements of Warclouds in some of the current servers today. Thanks to Sparx & Exos as the foumders of Warclouds, it was one of the first IL2 servers I flew on while using Hyperlobby. I will always remember those days with great fondness for the excitement, frustration, and community.

Speaking of community, I still see some of the old timers flying on various servers like CombatBox & Finnish Server. Matter of fact, I just had an old buddy contact me from the good ole days of Forgotten Skies. It was a pleasant surprise to chat with someone from 12+ years ago :)  To all the old timers that enjoyed Warclouds.... S!

Yeah, checking in...sometimes I'm on Finnish Server...great server..does remind me of Forgotten Skies.

Started with Microprose Flight Sim..through all the Lucas ones, Dynamix stuff, but finally found the nicely modeled 109 in the demo IL2 and was hooked.

Squaddy with the Greater Green folks, then the TUSA boys.

Not flying as much these days, but I'm still impressed with the work on this sim when I take it up.

Posted (edited)

My first sim was Fighter Pilot on ZX Spectrum 48K (yea, I may not be the youngest one around here ?), and since then flew pretty much any sim (air, land, sea, sub, all of'em) that were released. I've been with the Il2 series since the original release in 2001 by Oleg/UBI and been around since. Back in the day, our squadron was RFX, and I flew under the name RFX_Primus. Anyhow, IL2, IL2FB, ILFB:PF, IL2:COD, IL2:GB, all are jewels to me and I enjoy them equally, although IL2:GB is my favorite (and IMO the true successor to Oleg's vision) at this time, for it is supported very well and continues evolving beautifully. Worth every penny and more. Cheers to all involved, especially @Jason_Williams who resuscitated the series! ~S~
