A few weeks ago when MRTV showed how to use the VR Cover for the Odyssey I had ordered one and gave it a try, and did not care so much for it. The fit, and how it left for me a gap in the bottom that kind of took away from the immersion I would feel.

Well lately VR Covers has introduced a cover specifically for the Reverb G2.

https://us.vrcover.com/products/facial-interface-and-foam-replacement-set-for-hp-reverb-g2?pr_prod_strat=copurchase&pr_rec_pid=6101999943838&pr_ref_pid=6066902139038&pr_seq=uniform

So I ordered one of these. Got it in yesterday afternoon. It is a very nice shell with nosepiece that literally seals it all off, no light bleed at all. According to instructions it can also be adjusted by moving the nosepiece outside the foam for a little more area.

I like mine how it fits as it came just fine.

It is very comfortable, I have used it today probably around 3 hours with no discomfort. It comes with two thicknesses of foam with PU Leather covering, I chose to use the thinner one as it would get my eyes closer to the lens.

My first impression - it "seems" to increase the size of the sweet spot - just a little. Clarity to me seems a little better, perhaps from eyes being closer to lens. I suppose it gives a little better FOV, however I am handicapped on the eyesight side of things regarding FOV and likely would not notice it like someone with full vision might.

Ok so after this initial three hours, I am very pleased with it. The fit on the Reverb G2 was perfect, foam attaches to shell nicely and easily , and the shell attaches to headset same as the original via magnets. All very nice.

I will say while I find the comfort very nice, I suspect to some it may feel warm depending on ambient room temp. I keep my gaming room very cool like 72f so it did not bother me nor make me sweat. Warmer ambient room temp though for someone prone to sweating they may find themselves sweating after having it on for a length of time.

I will see how I feel after a few days of use , but right now I am pretty pleased with this and would much rather use it than the original one that came with the G2.

Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks! I was wondering “all this sweating can’t be good for the cover” just last night.

Same, so I bought one. And... If anyone has any tips on gently cleaning the default face pad, I'm all ears.

So it comes with its own shell, too, that also attaches via magnets, like the stock shell? I’m gonna have to get one of these - thanks for sharing!

Yep I ordered one of these at the weekend, I find the standard interface squeezes the sides of my head slightly and I like the ability to look back into the real word by removing the nose piece (as I do on my Q2)

Yep easy peasy.

that's cool, I'm glad they're making the replacement "facial interface" parts, i.e. gaskets.

@dburne thank you for the tip on this part. How does it feel in regards to the vertical FOV?  The original gasket is way too restrictive imho, so I'm using a 3rd printed replacement, albeit without magnets, etc, it's pretty lame. But it does give me an increase in vertical FOV. When I do a side to side comparison between the original and the 3d printed you can easily notice a much larger vertical opening.

Can't really say I notice a difference, however as I previously mentioned I would not be the best at discussing FOV due to my limited eyesight.

I certainly do not get the feeling it is less, and with the lens being closer I would think it would be a slight improvement. But again FOV topic would be best to get others opinions on that have full range of eyesight.

I bought one last week as well.  The interface and two size options were a really good bargain for $29.  I highly recommend this item as I think it is far superior to the stock interface (which is good).

I can say now after 4 days of heavy use, yeah I love this new VR Cover. It would be hard for me to go back to original faceplate now.

Thanks for the heads-up. Too late for me: The German reviewers trashed it weeks before it came out, so I went along with putting one together my own over a month ago.

I used jewcookie's 3d-printed gasket version 10 , neodymium magnets and the "Facial Interface and Foam Replacement Set for HP Reverb G2" b Vrcover. As by VoodooDE's YouTube guide.

I'm very happy with it as well, have greatly increased FOV, but given that there's a complete ready to go alternative available now, it's good to hear that it's a decent alternative!

Ditto, started using mine last night and it's great. Perhaps more vertical FOV, too, though I haven't yet taken the time to swap between the stock and the new VR Cover for a one-to-one comparison.

I'm appreciating being able to create the tiniest of gaps over my nose so I can see my keyboard. I also have WIDMOvr prescription lenses attached in my G2, so I have to use the thicker of the VR Cover pads, and even using that I can occasionally feel my eye lashes brush the lenses. Heck, I may need to trim my eye lashes back ?

Mine's coming in a couple of days, thanks to @dburne's recommendation. He really should get kick backs from all of the products he reviews on these forums.

I noticed the cloth on mine is looking less than fresh lately, so this should be a welcome change.

Yeah I noticed that about the cloth on my original cover as well.

I'd rather have the G2-/Index-style-cloth, but there seems to be no way to get one anywhere. I'd even buy multiple pieces if they were available. I got the VRCover foam now, but it already mushed itself together on the upper part (forehead region).

Yeah, replaceable cloth would be good. Unlike dburne, I think I prefer the original cloth to the replacement leathery ones as far as comfort is concerned. But for sharing with friends and family, the leathery type is better.

I did wash the cloth one with running water, wash cloth, and a tiny bit of dish soap and it seemed to work well. Maybe HP or someone else will sell them sometime.

Yeah, it would be great if HP were to offer a replacement set for a reasonable price.

After using the VR Cover version (the thicker pad since I have prescription lens inserts) I have gone back to using the stock HP gasket. The VR Cover pad was still not quite thick enough, so I kept having to adjust how the headset sat on my face to keep both the cockpit and distant contacts in sharp focus. I guess HP really had my face in mind when they designed their gasket.

But having a spare $29 gasket for my wife and future vaccinated friends will be handy

I have got this VR cover now .... And as said before , it help me to come a little closer to the glasses ...

Before I had the feeling it helped push on the glasses closer to eyes for make it more sharp ....and ....yes ...??

Still quite happy with mine for sure.

Been using mine for a couple of weeks now and switching back and forth with the stock cover.  The thin cover definitely puts me eyes a better distance from the lenses compared to the stock cover (also I am using prescription inserts and they are still not too close) .  I think @Charlo-VR is correct that it all comes down to face/head shape, because the stock cover always seemed to be a little to narrow for me (not uncomfortable, but just seeming to squeeze a little too tight keeping my eyes just slightly too far away from the lenses).

Anyway, I do feel my vision is better with this cover.  I also agree with @SCG_Fenris_Wolf and @unlikely_spider that I wish there was also a cloth version like the stock one though.  I appreciate @dburne keeping us informed on these improvements - as usual!
