Updated Dynamic Campaign by theOden: DynMis EXE

Posted (edited)

Hey everyone!!!

TheOden has uploaded his new version of his amazing Dynamic Campaign Generator onto Mission4Today, which is a super resource, particularly for us old boys who still fly IL2 1946.  Also, I highly recommend @greybeard_52 modified templates that you'll find on the page.

Remember to extract Greybead's file into your Documents\1CSoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of Dover  folder (If asks to overwrite answer yes)

Here is the link to Mission4Today

Enjoy!

Hello!

I have also recently started using DynMis.
Really great!
Now I still have questions.
As soon as I have started a new campaign and I want to continue flying in it two days later, is that possible?
Does the program save my progress?
I don't quite understand the handling yet.
I'm a beginner. Sorry for the question...

Before I start IL2 I have to activate DYNMIS, correct?

Yes, you can continue it later.  Start DynMis, then choose your campaign, click "start" and load Il-2:CLOD.  Play the mission, and when you finish and choose "Exit" from the mission, DynMis will update a file with your progression.  You can then click "stop" on DynMis.

When you want to continue, just make sure you've chosen the same Campaign in DynMis, and click Start...then play the mission, and repeat the above steps.

Thanks a lot Napping-Man. ;)

Your feedback helped me.

Hi;  I am trying to figure out what exactly the "strike packages" means in the menu, I cannot find a readme on this or anything on it in the boards.  I think it means how many enemy attacks to be simulated at once, but I do not know.  I just flew a mission which had 48xSpit (3sqns), 1xdefinat sqn, Do17, Me110, and Me109 all in the same air space.

Thanks for making this @theOden. It works well for me apart from one minor niggle I cannot solve. Every time I launch dynmis it forgets where the CoD directory is. I see a registry key but there's no mention of location. Any ideas? I could manually add an entry to the registry if I knew what to call it. Thanks!

If anyone else has any ideas, I'd be most welcome.

Hi,

thanks theOden for this utility.

It is really a game changer for the SP experience for CLOD and tobruk.

With this is possible to fully use all the available aircrafts and scenario available, with some historic meaning related to operations and real squadron names.

Really good work.

Will it be possible to add this in the base game, for example for the future expansion?

Would be great if it could just be included with CLoD and not as a standalone add on.

Surely a simple task to add a button in the SP menu?

The same works already since many years with the:

It is maybe not really dynamic, but the menu with the settings is really great, and it is possible to modify addionally the settings files.

Time range from ca. June40 to ca. March41 (only original CLOD planes available.)

Brand new to this, just read about it on the CLoD Discord, what (if anything) goes in the "Parameters" field?

Also, as I have two IL-2 CloD installations (on for beta Steam VR in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover Blitz folder and a standard version (updated to 5.043) in C:\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover Blitz 2D folder. I pointed the app to C:\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover Blitz 2D folder yet it is running the executable in SteamVR? Is there something else to change to get it to point to my 2D version?

-I never used the parameters.

-The dynamic campaign mission is normally installed in the additional "1C SoftClub" folder that is by default in your drive C:\ ...user\Document folder.

-Do you have 2 of these folders too for each installation or one common folder?

example of location of the dynmisDover.exe:

C:\Users\Jens\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover

example of the location of the Template missions:

C:\Users\Jens\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\missions\Single\dynmis

example of the location of the mission folder:

C:\Users\Jens\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\missions\Single

-VR: no special special settings required for VR. I have used theOden's dynamic campaign frequently during the early VR Beta tests in spring 2022.

Ok -

-ignore the "Parameter" field

- The The dynamic campaign mission is installed in the "C:\Users\username\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" folder

- No, I have two separate installations of CLoD, one at C:\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover Blitz 2D (this is the standard version), and one at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover Blitz (this is the VR Beta version). I use separate shortcuts to start each version. Both of these installations share the same "C:\Users\username\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" folder's data.

Sorry if my question was confusing. The issue is only if I have the "Start IL-2"  box ticked, which (as it says) starts IL-2 automatically. The "Find IL-2" function finds both of my installations to propagate the field, but seems to default to Steam. As long as I have the "Start IL-2"  box UN-ticked  there is no issue, I just pick the version I want to run and all is well. The missions created are seen by both versions and work great!

This is a game changer, absolutely amazing work!

I read this in the readme: "These airgroups should be 1-ship and setting livery/skin on the #1 plane tab will override the built-in livery selection for early RAF fighters (A/B, black/white, grey in 41 etc)" but in game I've only seen the default skins. Example, for early 1940 Battle of France there have been no spits or hurricanes with the white/black wing undersides, or 109s without the yellow noses. I have to edit textures in the in game mission builder which so far has added extra complications.

I've also noticed multiple time my formation calling tally ho then seemingly flying right past an enemy formation without engaging.

Hello,

Please help, I get this message when trying to launch a campaign.

But then there are campaigns that launch without a problem.

Many thanks @theOden!

I found a bug in the ingame selection menu when creating campaigns, it keeps creating blank spaces in the wrong position:

I would rather say that he uses planes from the Tobruk Addon in this campaign, even though it is a campaign over the canal.

I installed the latest version and loaded 2 dynamic campaigns, but then I found out that it completely messed up the static campaigns... has this happened to you, a completely different campaign loads... I think it would be better to use a new section (name in the list) like IL2DCE has... :(

Do you have a "campaign.briefing" in each of the folders under "..\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\mission\campaign\custom".

If so, check that there is a section (bracket containing anything) having a <Name> Title and something under the following <Description>.

Example:

[0]
<Name>
Title
<Description>
DynMis 1940 Battle of Britain
[1]
<Name>
MainIntro
<Description>
1940 Battle of Britain

Need DLC: Tobruk

Buffo002, the Tobruk DLC added more planes than those in the Western Desert.

There are however a Battle of Britain (Blitz) in the list for those not having any DLC (and for those that wants to start with the early Channel Battles).

Yes, that's how I understood it. But as for dynamic campaigns, which are great, it would be nice to have it specifically given so that static campaigns don't load incorrectly. And one more thing about statistics, when you damage a plane by shooting at 25% or 47% and the plane crashes into the ground or water. The statistics show the number of damaged planes, but not kills. Every plane, no matter how little damaged it is, falls or lands on its belly, it was considered a plane shot down. Otherwise, great work. :)

Sample image as it is there, the list should be there Name e.g.: DynOden.  And nothing would change in static campaigns.

I didn't find any .briefing files, only .ini and .mis

Btw, I did use older versions of your DynMis, and I'm using also DCE.

There is one thing I guess I did look over regarding previous users.

If you have "old" usermade templates in the "\missions\Single\dynmis" those will most likely generate wrong sets of files in the campaign folders if selected.

Anyhow, delete any campaign folders missing the briefing files (and move any usermade templates from mentioned folder elsewhere).

Well, I just don't understand some rewriting in files and in my opinion it would be easier to introduce a .xml file (where the campaign name and settings will be) in the menu list for "Sigle" under the "AddIns" folder as I gave an example in the picture and then under the "parts" folder there will be a folder with the name of the dynamic campaign (e.g.: DynOden) and under that folder there will be files for running the campaign. And no one has to rewrite, edit or delete anything anywhere. It's a shame, it's a very good job, but because it messed up the static campaigns for me, I had to remove all the files so that the correct static campaigns would load. Of course, some people only have the basic campaigns in the original game and there's probably no problem there, but in the future, as the campaign settings, statistics, and kill counts are improved, it will interfere with the list of static campaigns when the user starts gradually adding more and more static campaigns to the list.

If only there were an enthusiast and programmer who could create a command line for statistical campaigns (the original game) to add up the total numbers after each mission played, the number of enemy aircraft shot down, their type, destroyed ground targets, etc. That's the only thing this game lacks in single player.

@theOden

now it's running smoothly after deleting the old stuff, thanks!

was having fun with the battle of france, I noticed I got low altitude in my waypoints. For instance, I was ordered to provide escort for a bomber formation flying much higher. I wonder if it's not translating meters to feet properly (my waypoints were 5000ft, and the bombers were around 5000m), or if it's something else.

EDIT: I got missions with proper altitudes with the british (playing desert campaigns now, was playing france before). So it's inconsistent. I'll just reset mission if I get something like that again.

I'm sorry, but wouldn't it be better to put your dynamic campaign separately on the list in the Single player menu? Just one file that I send to create this name and upload it under the file: "AddIns" I send it and then under the file: "parts" create a campaign file, for example: "Campaign by theOden" (where there are already other campaigns, e.g.: IL2DCE, Air warfare and others ...) and it wouldn't mix at all with the static campaigns, which for some people will mess up the Static campaigns in the original game. I'm sending a picture of what it would look like if you used that file to add to the list for Single player and there you would have complete freedom without technical problems. I also recommend consulting with the programmer: silkysky
I think it would be great and he would also advise you on the statistics of counting destroyed aircraft or ground targets after each mission, which would add up the numbers of your kills and types of enemy aircraft. Otherwise, great work ... :)

For others, if you download the file, it is useless to you. That was just a demonstration for the programmer Oden, so that he would know how to get his campaign into the list in the single player menu. Then he has to play with it there, if he wants. But the question is what TFS plans with Campaigns, if it will work for him through Campaigns in the future, that's why I suggested that it would be better to have it under its own folder and there he would have a free hand, whatever adjustments TFS makes. :)

Hi theOden, I've been playing a dynamic campaign using your fantastic software for a few days now. I've even managed to convince a DCS-playing friend to give CLoD a crack!

I wonder if it is at all possible to adapt your program to work in a multiplayer scenario? My thinking is that I could easily move the generated mission files into a multiplayer scenario in my file system, but that still leaves the issue of 1. how to enable multiple flyable planes and 2. whether it would be possible for your program to read the campaign state from a multiplayer server when a mission is ended. I've never hosted a CLoD server so I'm not familiar with how different the process could be from ending a mission in singleplayer.

Is this something you've though of, do you think it could be possible?

Hi everyone,

Im running into an issue of DynMis not saving the progress of my campaign. After playing a few missions in the Battle of Britain Blitz campaign and exiting the game, I come back to it to pick up where I left off, and there is no continue or resume button. Clicking "new" restarts the campaign.

What's the fix?
