I love this very practical mod for VR and my goldfish memory.

I hope to see the P-47 D22 one day.

Thanks for sharing

@SAS_Storebror that's very good work.
Just one small issue. Hs-129 don't have automatic mixture. It's manual.

That's a good point. I have never flown the HS129, but in a Quick Mission just now I see that manual control of mixture to full is required for engine startup, at least, and mixture control also allows you to lean the mixture to fly less "dirty".

The devs' briefing specifications for the HS129 state "Engine mixture control is automatic. Leaning the mixture manually reduces the fuel consumption during flight."

Personally, I prefer to note for myself when mixture control is normally available, and especially if full rich is required for engine startup. So, I have now updated my own pilot's notes for the HS129 to reflect that mixture is manual.

For anyone interested, here’s a link to my slightly-updated HS129 pilot's notes:

Does anyone have notes for the D22 to share?

edit: seems the power settings are the same as the D28 so I copied it over.

I created one for myself for the Nieuport 28, and here’s a link to it:

Download and save into \IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\data\graphics\Planes\Nieuport28\Textures\

The ratings are from the old Rise of Flight manual and probably still apply for the FC planes relative to each other.

I asked the gentleman that posted that photo for the D22 if he would share it, but never got a response from him.  But it's pretty much the same as the D28.

How are you guys finding the accuracy of these? I think they are based on in-game notes, but for some planes, particularly the American ones, I find I can push the manifold pressure in normal mode a little bit beyond what the notes say is the limit before technochat warns me the engine is in combat mode.

Posted

I have noticed this as well. I am able to push it a little past what the notes say for almost all the aircraft. It is very handy to have the notes right there on the instruments, so I suppose a smidge of safety buffer is tolerable.

Where did you all find the specs for the 150 octane limits? I do not see it in the spec page.

I didn't, I got it from the same place as Hoss I would imagine so I don't even KNOW wether it's accurate or not. I guess you just 'suck it and see'?

Thanks to @SAS_Storebror @Charlo-VRand the others for making and keeping this great asset alive.

I've taken all the current cockpit photo pilot notes and collated them into a download for my squadron members, and I'd like the share that with the community. It uses the "replace in game cockpit photos" method, and therefore is not a mod and suitable for use in all servers.

It's also a self extracting archive file made with 7zip, so just requires you to point the installer to your main game folder, click extract and it will put all the files where they need to be. screenshot attached for reference.

NOTE: for steam users, your installation file will be in your STEAMAPPS/COMMON folder, and will be called "IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad". That's the folder you need to point the installer to.

Because 7 zip uses an installer to unpack the files into the correct folders. It's how self extracting archive files are made.
If you don't like it, or don't trust it, right click it and unzip in the normal way. The only problem then is you have to put all the files in their correct folders manually.

mmm just wondering if anyone has an idea, the photo works ok, and is the right size n format and shows fine in the pit, but it always cuts off a portion to the right so i have half a girl so to speak?

Posted

@Na-zdorovie you could download and study the dimensions of these replacement data card "pilots notes" that some of us use in place of those photos in each plane

Hi, thanks for the great idea and execution! I found a bug mentioned early in the life of this mod but still present, P38 radiators are automatic not manual by default.

Yeah, the OP never got around to correcting that in his P-38 cockpit notes, so for myself I corrected that. Here's my version, if you like:
