Very nice skins guys:salute:

After a LOT of experimenting with the template I think I have arrived at a natural metal finish I will be sticking with for a while.

Looks really good.

I think all the NMF in this sim really needs is to have the reflection toned down where it's reflecting itself. Like where the wing meets the fuselage. That's where the watery shine is most annoying. Otherwise it looks pretty realistic.

Late war 4thFG P-51D-20-NA as flown by Lt. Col. Sidney Woods. Woods flew earlier in the war in the Pacific Theater where he downed at least two Japanese aircraft. On 03/22/45 he shot down five Fw-190s in a single mission after the group broke bomber escort. A total of 11 Fw-190s were shot down by the Fourth that day. He flew with the Fourth from 02/45 (according to the book, Escort to Berlin) until he was shot down and taken prisoner on April 16, 1945 during a strafing mission, his 180th mission of WWII. Eight P-51s from the Fourth went down that day in total. Woods survived his stay as a POW and returned to active duty. After leaving the Air Force many years later, he became a successful businessman and politician. He passed away in 1989.

"Lil' Margaret" an F-6D photo recon variant of the P-51D. This one was flown by 13 victory ace capt Clyde B East of the 10th Photographic Reconnaissance Group, 15th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron.

I have tried to replicate the cameras to make it as accurate to an F-6D as possible without a 3 d model. Its a bit crude I admit but its the only way i could think of.

Up now at http://www.lockonfiles.com/files/file/3785-lil-margaret-f-6d-10thprg-15thtrs/

Very nice skin! Have you got this one without markings (only the US stars)? I will use this skin as "standart" skin!

Thanks. I am about to update that skin.

There's a few errors that need correcting and the bare metal finish could be better.

I have no plans to release an unmakrked one at this time.

Unfortunately after I finished this skin yesterday, I realized someone had already done a similar version back a little while ago, but I figured I'd throw "Hubert" of the 359th FG up for grabs anyway and add it to my green nose collection.

352nd_Sighter, May I suggest you do “Satan’s Lady” which was flown by John McAlister,  who was wingman to Rene Burtner in “Hubert”.

i had the pleasure of corresponding with the sadly now late Rene Burtner several years ago when I recreated both “Hubert” and “Satan’s Lady” for him in il2:46.

He was kind enough to send me a signed wartime photo of both him and John McAlister thanking me.

One of my prized possessions.

Bo_Nidle,

I will absolutely try and do that one for you, in fact I came across it numerous times when I was looking through 359th FG mustangs. If you happen to have any good pictures of the nose art I would appreciate it.

Unfortunately I don't anymore. I think I created them around 2007 so I have had a lot of PC clean ups and new PC's come to that!

As I recall it was a very simple scheme using the short green nose, no rudder colour and the squadron codes.

Alright, I think I found nose art that looks good enough for now, but I'll try to update it in the future if I can get a higher quality image. Enjoy!

Hello once again Gentlemen,

Just finished up "Shady Lady", as flown by Lt. Slonneger of the 67th TRS. I might also mention I've started a thread for all my skins to be located in one place. Feel free to download 'em all, including my personal squadron ones so you can see them in game. Have a great day! Siqhter's Skins thread -

Nice looking skins. Did this group reverse squadron letter on the right as shown? Unusual if so.

It's a bug that came with the latest update, the devs are aware of it and will fix it soon.

Have a nice day.

@352nd_Siqhter Although this skin cannot be used in combat by historical-dependent brain-injured people like myself, nevertheless it is simply beautiful! Certainly an excellent choice for doing some healthy aeronautical tourism on board the P-51. Love it!

Congratulations! Really very very beautiful!

This might be my last skin for a bit, I've been cranking them out recently, I'm trying to find some other good ones to do while I have the time. This is a semi-historical skin because it would have adorned a P-51K, but it looks just great on the D variant. "Mrs. Bonnie" was flown by Lt. Col. Bill Dunham of the 348th FG, scoring his 16th and only mustang victory in this aircraft. Probably one of the more colorful 348th skins out there which is what initially drew me to it.

Alright gentlemen, I've completed 4 skins from the 20th FG including 'Cathy Beloved', 'Gentle Annie', 'Panty Waste', and 'Miss Miami'. I am going to try and update this skin pack in the future with more 20th FG skins, and if you happen to find any good nose art for the 20th and would like me to add it to the pack, let me know. Don't forget to check out my skins library if you'd like to find more of my skins.

All right, here you go! 'Dallas Doll' of the 352nd FS, 353rd FG. I could find NO information whatsoever regarding the crew names for this aircraft, so I used what I could find from a model kit. I believe the names are made up. Enjoy!

If it helps: Pilot was Lt F H Bouldin, Crew Chief S/Sgt C.E. Frye, Armorer Sgt J.F. Gibb

(Source: "Slybirds; A photographic odyssey of the 353rd Fighter Group" by Graham Cross. Superb reference work. Highly recommended.)

Nice job by the way.

However you may want to resize the insignia. The wing and fuselage insignia on the P-51D template are too big and were the first things I corrected.

I replaced the insignia with ones that did not have that unsightly dark ring around the edge of the disc and resized them.

My insignia are correctly proportioned, with the wing insignia being, if I recall correctly, 5% smaller than the template ones and the fuselage insignia 11% smaller.

Close up from a photo in the book.

Thanks Bo! I never really noticed the insignia size difference. Also I appreciate the photo, I've got to figure out a way to make those lines fancier looking.

As a Long term Motorhead fan (since I was 16 in the mid eighties) I congratulate you on this Beauty. Good old "Lemmy" Kilmister would have been proud of this Baby. May he rest in Peace.

If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man
You win some, lose some, it's all the same to me
The pleasure is to play, makes no difference what you say
I don't share your greed, the only card I need is
