Atlas/Book about WWII planes

Recommended Posts

Hello, could you recommend a atlas/book about various planes used during WWII with their modifications and paint schemes? In Skins and Templates section there are often pictures from some English and Polish titles, do you know the names? I would prefer atlas over book - so max information in few words. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

The only thing that comes to my mind are osprey books. It's not really what you are looking for but they do describe certain planes, their versions, lots of pictures and some camo art is there too.

LOL, I have two copies of this book - both in pristine condition. The foldouts are incredible.

I should get mine by the end of the next week :dance:

You are lucky then :) I had to order mine from Amazon, but the price for used book in very good condition, wasn't that bad as it was couple of times cheaper than brand new one.

"The Great Book Of World War II Airplanes"

My wife's late grandfather was a big aviation nut, and this is one of the books that's still on his bookshelf to this day. Thumbed through it once but I've never had a proper look through it yet. It's a shame I never met him, because from what I've seen and heard he was quite into military history (himself being a diver in the Royal Navy during WWII in the Pacific).

That's why I keep saying that thrift stores are a goldmine when you re looking for books on WW2 aviation...

@Tyberan

Thanks for the tip, but when I ordered "The Great Book Of World War II Airplanes" for 30€, the 20€ for 28 pages feels bit too much.

@Semor76

Thanks mate, but they were already dispatched, so I should get them in couple of days and I am old fashioned, so need to feel the paper in my hands :drink2:

I've had my copy of this book since it was first published back in the mid 80's. It's still one of my favorite books in my aviation library.
