I have modified PS-3 eye with DelanClip, and I'm running OpenTrack.

I believe first and foremost you have to buy and install the PS-3 eye driver. It's inexpensive: 2.99 USD (Paypal)

You can do it here: https://codelaboratories.com/products/eye/driver/

I can share my OpenTrack configuration with you if you need it, but it wasn't too hard to do. Yours may differ due to distance, camera placement, lighting conditions.

But I could never do a better job than what's done here:

There is NO need to buy that driver...

choose 'Manuelle Installation' and on the following page 'Download-Server CHIP Online'

Maybe a silly question but do I need three monitors to use head tracking? Thank you.

No, no more than one is needed.

The number of monitors is completely irrelevant. You can set it up as you need and use with a single monitor just fine!

Sure it's not the sun or some reflection affecting it? You can calibrate so it is less sensitive to light.

No, have that covered. BUT.....Computer started acting funny and would not shut down. I unplugged it, let it sit a bit, plugged it back in. Every thing fired up and it works great now.

Go figure.....

Hi all, Ive just got a new PC and set up CL Driver and Opentrack but tracking is not working in IL-2. Opentrack is working, picking up the LED's and detecting IL-2 no problem, but when I press start to begin flying, no matter what settings I change, IL-2 will not detect any tracking movement. Please help as I am stuck and it is very frustrating!

Do you have Opentrack open in the background before you start IL-2? If not that will explain it as it has to be open to work, once open (and nothing else needed) then tracking will be automatic when you start. Hope this helps.

No it is open while IL-2 is, and IL-2 doesnt recognise the head tracking

I note you say it is detecting IL-2 so I assume you have this showing in the game detection section under the options tabimage.png.a84181d32fed039457b8c7f2aa95f6f1.png?  Have you also on the front page told it which profile to use as below (I use Hat Tracks own programme) ?

image.png.6fcf67858e107cd62a3d3931cbbbcc72.png Mine says default as that is what I set up for IL-2 - see above

If you have done all that and are getting no joy then I am afraid my extremely limited PC skills are exhausted but hopefully someone here who knows more (so about 95% of members) will be able to help.

Sorry if I've not been able to help and good luck.

Are you running both opentrack and IL2 with admin privileges?

Try repair NPclient.dll location:
Output -> freetrack 2.0 Enchanced -> (settings)... -> Locate DLL -> NPclient.dll -> OK:

Thanks mate, great guide. It has helped me alot and made the process really simple. I will be keeping this guide to help me as I become more familiar with head tracking and make my own adjustments. Now hopefully I can be a better pilot lol

NPclient.dll is used to link Opentrack with the flight simulator. This registers NPclient.dll from the Opentrack/Modules folder. Now Windows to use this and not another library of the same name.

SmoothTrack/Open Track Centering Issue

I recently got SmoothTrack for my Android phone.  I find it a viable alternative to using  LED tracking devices.  My headset is a lightweight open ear design that does not lend itself to bulky Declan Clip style LED trackers.

Here's my problem,..
I cannot get the reticle to sit in the center of my view using SmoothTrack/Open Track.
Without tracking on I do.  I have a HOTAS button bound to the default '5' key for centering and have no problems.  But when I start the tracking the view is a couple of degrees off center to the left.

* Yes, I am starting my tracking before launching the game.

* Yes, I have bound my HOTAS centering button to 'Center' and have "Center at startup" ticked in Options > Shortcuts > Global shortcuts.

* Yes, my Yaw curve starts in the lower left hand corner of the graph.
* Yes, I have the same curve setting in the 'X' graph, lower left corner.

* Yes, I am using Freetrack 3.0 Enhanced as my output. I have 'enable both' in the Freetrack protocol settings

* All the SmoothTrack app 'Sensitivity and Offset' settings are at default and have never been adjusted.

@Gramps, I tried your accela filter settings, no difference.

When I move my head left/right it jumps across the centered reticle unlike what I see in videos where head tracking is used.  If I move my head slightly left/right the same ting happens.  It jumps past where the reticle would be centered in my view.  If I press my centering keys my view is properly centered but I cannot otherwise move my head even with the mouse.  This is the same as without tracking turned on.  The Pitch axis moves smoothly but also 'jumps' past the centered reticle.

Of lesser concern right now is I cannot seem to get my 'Z' axis to zoom in as close as I can using my keybinds. That just might be an adjustment issue.  But first and most important, this centering issue.

What am I doing wrong?
Does anyone else using Smoothtrack and Open Track have a profile they would be willing to share?

Any help appreciated as I'd like to get started using this until I can afford VR.  Otherwise I am quite pleased with this head tracking solution.

TIA.

@Beebop, I just tried @DerRoteHound's profile that they shared here and it's working well for me. I didn't have any issues making my camera center using SmoothTrack before, but I wanted to try different curves. The only thing I changed was selecting the input as  "UDP over network" as opposed to "PointTracker 1.1."

@Beebop

Prior to OT-2.3.11, Opentrack had alignment issues. When Yaw crossed north (or south), there was a jump by the angle of the direction to the monitor minus the direction to the north (or south).

Use OpenTrack-2.3.12 (or OT-2.3.11). Centering works correctly in the two extreme versions.

Hmmm, I am using version 2.3.12

Since my umpteen years old ED- Tracker gave up the ghost, I bought a DELAN CLIP. Installation of the camera, the clip and the camera software works without problems, everything is also recognized by the system Win10 64bit. In Opentrack 2.3.12 everything is set, everything is also recognized, the Octopuss moves when looking around, as it should.

In Il-2, however, the visual axis "YAW" does not work at all. I can look in all directions, tilt the head, look down/up, move the head forward/backward, everything works,......... just not the axis to look around/ turn the head left and right to the back to the 6 o'clock position. Have readjusted the axle profiles all several times, everything always works except turning around to the left and right.

In old posts from BOX a few years ago the problem also occurred...... a satisfactory answer / solution I could not read out.

Also the setting in the " start config. " old_track IR I have set to " 0", with "1" the tracker does not work at all...... does not help.

Who knows the problem???? and knows the solution. I think it is definitely an IL-2 issue..... because in Opentrack theOctopuss just does everything exactly as it should.

Or is there a problem, because opentack probably runs on 32bit and win10 and IL-2 on 64bit???

I would be very grateful for quick advice.

mfg

Just tried it out. In ROF everything works fine, in all directions, all axes and head movements.

Tried again in BOX....... all axes except head turn left and right to back work.

So,it has something to do with the visual axis head turn left/right " yaw" in BOX.

What can be done????

I don't think it's an IL2 issue, plenty of pilots here use it, myself included. Do you have different ini (profiles) files for BOX and ROF?

Hello, thanks for the answer....
But: Yesterday I installed the Delan Clip and Opentrack 2.3.12 32bit, new and for the first time. I left the default Opentrack settings, and used the same settings for IL-2 BOX and ROF, no separate profiles!!!.
Just tried again. In IL-2 the visual axis "Yaw" does not work. In ROF everything works!!!! with the same settings.

What could be the reason for this????

Please ask for quick help and support.

 With kind regards. Regards

I remember this issue from the first time it was brought up. Remove all head movement key bindings in the IL-2 settings.
Not 100% sure but I think that fixed it for the other person.

Let me know if it works.

Even the defaults?  I like to keep those as a backup.

You don't need them anymore anyway so if it fixes the issue then, of course!

Which folder for the head movements do I have to copy as a backup?

Hi,

I've tried open track with my android phone strapped to my head for MSFS and whilst it does work ok the view is restricted to 3dof and when zoomed in with the mouse swims around quite a bit making it impossible to click buttons.

Been thinking of going for a delanclip plugged into a usb powerpack. However my gaming position is on the sofa, which is around 8 feet from the screen, so I'm thinking this may present a problem in terms of camera placement.

In most setups that I've seen the camera tends to be clamped at head height (to the monitor) a few feet away, but for me the camera would need to be on the coffee table about four feet in front and two feet lower than eye level. Would this still work ok?

I have a Track IR camera and just received the Trackhat clip. Can I use the TrackIR software or should I use the Opentrack app?

You should be able to use your TrackIR software.

Pretty sure you can't use your TrackIR camera with Opentrack anyway. Proprietary TrackIR software stops you from doing that iirc.

Hi.

I came back to il2 after some time and tried it with diy tracking device and opentrack. Its running pretty good, but i cant look up to the 90 degrees. I have googled a bit and tied everyhing i run across but it doesnt seem to be woking...

In the main pilot cockpit look (F1) i can only look up to cca 75-80 dgrs. Is it something hardcoded in game? In other cockpit view (Alt+F1) i can look up to 90 dgrs, but it doesnt have 6DoF and i cant zoom. I tried setting the output in opentrack to 180 dgrs but nothing happend.

Can someone help me?

I'm using opentrack 2.3.13

Many thanks :)

In opentrack make sure in the mapping properties the pitch is set to max output 180 degrees.

I set it to 180 degrees and it doesnt work... Now i can look up to 90 degrees (sort of), but not in the middle of the upper side of the canopy but in the front end (for example in the middle of the non-openable part of canopy on 109). So i sill see nothing when flying... I never had this problem in CloD or 1946... Any other ideas please?

Only thing I can think of is maybe the default center pose is off in the game. Maybe one of the 109 jocks will chime in with some info, I'm not a 109 guy myself.

Hello,
My little problem :

When I start Edtracker alone, everything is fine.
But as soon as I start Opentrack, the "orig." button that allows to move the head backwards stops working.

Does anyone have an explanation?
Thank you very much.

Ok.

Solved.

Must run opentrack(2.3.1.2) before opening the game.
