So do I Julian , so do I , just because the st...d guy who colorized this black and white picture didn't know anything about Luftwaffe and unit. In the files I sent you, you'll find a pic of White 7 + -- from the same Staffel at the same place at the same time, plus the pic of White 20 + -- of course.( where you can see the beginning of the 2nd Gruppe horizontal white bar.) The general rule at the time was White for 1-4-7 staffel. Black for 2-5-8 Staffel, Yellow for 3-6-9 Staffel. It changed when the each Gruppe received a fourth Staffel. But that's another story.

The same adage is always right , but as you know it already , I won't repeat myself...

Anyway, I am sure you'll make some jewels out of the pics I sent you.

Hi Julian , super , I like it very much !

For a change, you could now try White 7 + --. The tail is very special and unusual, with its white outlined S......a on a  very light background ( rlm 76 or 02 ?) , as is the missing lower part of the  fuselage yellow band. That would make this skin very interesting but not challenging for a Boss like you ! !

Are two versions of this plane - first version shows Kunze`s plane with a black-yellow scroll pattern of engine, second version shows the same plane with black-white scroll pattern of engine. I think that correct is B&W version. But you have a choice

This is my impression of the Fw190 A5 flown by Hauptman Erich Leie on the Eastern Front in 1943. I failed to find any original photos of his aircraft bar one showing just the tail section with him standing in front. Many artists impressions do exist however. I used JG4 Kruger's excellent new template as my base for this one. Adding layers and a new Alpha to make the skin.

 

In January 1943, Leie transferred  as Gruppenkommandeur to I. Gruppe of JG 51, based on the Eastwern Front. Leie led the Gruppe during the offensive operations leading up to Operation Citadel, which initiated the Batlle of Kursk; the battle began on 5 July 1943 with I. Gruppe of JG 51 supporting the German 9th Army in its northern attack on the Kursk salient. For the first days of the operation, I. Gruppe primary task was to provide fighter escort for bombers. On the first day of Zitadelle, Leie claimed his 50th aerial victory, an Il-2 shot down in the vicinity of Maloarkhangelsk.

 

On 7 March 1945, Leie claimed his last two aerial victories and was killed in action. At 14:56, he claimed a La-5 shot down. Half an hour later, he claimed a Yak-9 fighter west of Bielitz, present-day Bielsko-Biała in southern Poland, but collided in mid-air with the crashing Yak-9 fighter in his Bf 109 G-14/AS (Werknummer 786329). He baled out at an altitude of 60 metres too low for his parachute to fully deploy. He was a Knights Cross recipient with a final tally of 121 kills. Of his 42 confirmed victories recorded over the Western front, 30 were Spitfires.

They were actually A5s not A3s

 

The 190A-3 default skins includes two that were actually A5s.  Obviously at the time the A3 was released there was no A5 in sim, so it is forgivable

 

Anyhow here are historically accurate Fw190A-5 skins for Kunze and Hondt.  I make them slightly less glossy than default skins and have included versions with and without swastikas.

I wanted to do something more creative this time so this is a semi-historic skin of a JG51 mid-war Fw190 A5. Battered, bruised but not broken. Repaired and resprayed in parts with late-war RLM colors. I did 2 versions, one in high contrast(hc) and the other in low contrast(lc).  The lc versions looks much better on my system so I would try that first and use the hc version if it looks washed out on your setup. If you do try it out let me know which works best for you.

Wonderful to see again beautiful A5 skins. The A5 was somewhat neglected regarding Western Front units. There are still few A5 / A6 skins from JG2, JG26 and JG300 for the period early 1943 to summer 1944. Although we have the airplanes unfortunately we don’t have many of the right skins for the very interesting Rhubarb and Circus operations that we could now simulate with the superb BoB map.

@Flowbee_603The lc version looks great on my system. The washed-out colors also fit much better with the battered condition of the aircraft. Very well done!

I studied higher grade fine arts. in painting, drawing and sculpture.

but, I always realized that writing poems was something that hid and

turned out to be the most artistic part of my mind.

 

I love this simulator Community, same with the Rise of Flight in 10 years ago, For many reasons, but the one I like the most, is that The community that Jason Williams and 1CGS, have made and created, we are a united community, with very different goals, with very different problems and from all the countries of the world, and we are all happy to enjoy the work  and the common history, which makes us an exemplary community.

PD-I know that many will find my answer strange, but I have some very bad time in my life, and the simulation community was my family, it was the force that pushed me to keep fighting and not give up and stop fighting. 

It was two years, that my life was like an old rope, with 100kg hanging, about to break and never come back. and it was things like these, memories, that made me never give up. 

I like to see, love in jobs, companionship even if we're never going to see each other for real. but knowing that. we form a unit, which we advance together by the passion to the history of some planes and pilots. 
That after suffering years of struggle and agony, they became friends with their enemies. because they saw each other at the wrong time and place and were born in a moment that only allowed them to do what we love today and that makes us unite as people. Enjoy

Emil Lang (14 January 1909 – 3 September 1944), nicknamed "Bully", was credited with 173 aerial victories—144 on the Eastern Front, 29 on the Western Front—and one Soviet MTB sunk in 403 combat missions.

Posted to a fighter wing on the Eastern Front, Lang claimed his first aerial victories in March 1943. He was credited with 72 victories in a three-week period, among them an unsurpassed total of 18 on 3 November 1943. He received the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on 22 November 1943 for his 119 victories to that time. By March 1944, his claims totaled 144, for which he received the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves on 11 April 1944. Transferred to the Western Front, he claimed his 150th victim during the Normandy Invasion on 14 June 1944. He scored his last three victories on 26 August 1944; on 3 September 1944, he was killed in action over Belgium.

 

The markings indicate that Emil Lang's aircraft is of the II Group, 5th Staffel of JG54 and thus denoted as 5./JG54. Note how the the normally well defined Green Heart symbol has been roughly over-sprayed. Luftwaffe aircraft were routinely roughly over-painted depending on the season and the terrain over which they operated. RLM colours, when even available, were freely mixed and in the absence of genuine paints, household paints were used as the German supply situation became ever more chaotic throughout the war.

Update...

 

Just tried this skin on another bigger monitor and it was way over saturated and also changed and fixed a couple of things. So if it looks off try this version. I think I should stick with this monitor but any feedback appreciated.

Bully Lang was killed when he decided to fly and aircraft with malfunctioning landing gear. He knew it and took it anyway.
 

Gear came down when he tried to maneuver in combat - his wingman saw it down before Lang went in. Try dogfighting with your landing gear down. 
 

Should have left that plane at the airfield.

Hi Julian,

 

I noticed your remark on the info about making these skins historical. There was a discussion about this earlier with the A3 skins and there is some info that might help.

 

I think the camouflage is correct but the emblem's where different. The red mickey mouse emblem's where removed before they arrived at the front due to confusion with the soviet star. Besides that the planes also had the infantry ISA shield.
