Jason_Williams Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Pilots, You can now download PWCG for BOS Beta 1 for public testing and bug hunting. The purpose of this is to find bugs. Please try to keep non-bug hunting comments (wishes, dreams etc.) to a minimum so identifying them and squashing them is a faster process. The port over from ROF threw Pat some curveballs due to changes in how BOS does things so there will probably be issues. Some issues from the game may be affecting PWCG missions so it is important to see how the missions play out. Also, flying with all unlocks activated is recommended. Grab it from Pat's website. http://www.pwcampaignmanager.com/pwcgbos/web/PWCGBoS.html or from this link http://www.rofmods.com/PWCG/BoSCampaignBeta3.zip Pat is on a vacation for a couple weeks so let's take this time to find bugs and have some fun. Post bugs in this thread, but try to keep it tight and to the point. Jason 16
Finkeren Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Awesome. 1 question: When you say that flying with all unlocks activated, does that mean, that we should tick the box to unlock all field mods (for us with gold bars) or doesn't it matter if you've already unlocked all the stuff? Also: The download link doesn't seem to work.

DD_Arthur Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) Lol. No worries Jason. Lets hope Pat enjoys his vacation Edit; btw, what a pleasant surprize this is Edited October 14, 2015 by DD_Arthur
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) I think that there is no coop mode in BOS but you can choose it in start menu. I'm guessing that i should enable mission logging for debrief in startup.cfg (mission_text_log = 1) When this is not done BOS PWCG is suggesting to modify file in Rise of Flight path. I first escort mission started in the air on top of thick cloud layer - so thick that there was only blue sky and white cloud under me - no land, i did try to dive under but there was no time to pull up... ps. there was no names of escort location - just question marks "??????" 3instein Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 It is a little confusing for someone who hasn't used PWCG before, but after playing for a wee while you get the hang of it no problem. Once you accept the mission it shows up in your missions folder on the BoS start screen. You can modify the percentages of whatever weather you will encounter in the advanced config tab on the PWCG main page. This is a really great tool for generating a campaign, with you being able to tailor a lot of things to the way you want to fly. With being able to create your own pilot, squadron, transfer etc, and also being able to specify what time you take off at is a great bonus, no longer flights taking off only around midday, thanks Pat. What a great start, and if the updates to his RoF one are anything to go by, this will have a great long life with good updates, it can only get better. Mick.
HippyDruid Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) Brilliant, just tried it! I may just being nit picky here, (I haven't used PWCG for RoF in a little while) but it may help some people get setup easier. Setup: 3. Start PWCG (double click BosCampaign.jar - advisable to run as administrator if BoS is installed into C:\Program Files) 4. Select airplanes that you own (should be only option if it hasn't already been done). 4.5 Click on New Campaign, choose a side, click on create campaign. 5. Go to simple config and select air and ground activity levels. .... I'm not getting any kind of destination names once the mission is generated. For example: Intercept enemy aircraft near ??????? ????????. I suspect you're already aware of this though. I've got all day to play with this today. So if I break something I will post it. Thanks heaps, this is awesome. Edited October 14, 2015 by HippyDruid
TG-55Panthercules Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) Still working through setting up my initial test campaign. So far, everything seems to be working well, except I did get the following screen when I tried to click on the awards/medal box on my pilot's roster screen (not sure what it's called - the one you get when you click on your pilot's name in the list down the right-hand side). Besides the absence of the medal box (even an empty one, since presumably I don't have any medals/awards yet), the picture on the left seems to be a carry-over from RoF. Also, I noted that when I updated my pilot picture from this screen: and then went back to the roster screen via the "Finished Reading" button, my pilot's picture is not updated on the roster list: Edited October 14, 2015 by TG-55Panthercules
TG-55Panthercules Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) While setting up some config settings, I noticed this carry-over from RoF (unless Requiem's doing a similar mod for BoS?): Also noted a typo/error on the intelligence screen (squadrons on friendly tab screen referred to as opposing): Edited October 14, 2015 by TG-55Panthercules
DD_Arthur Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 I first escort mission started in the air on top of thick cloud layer - so thick that there was only blue sky and white cloud under me - no land, i did try to dive under but there was no time to pull up... You can change the airstart option in advanced config along with weather options too. Well done Pat
TG-55Panthercules Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) This is probably just a placeholder Pat did on purpose, but I found this info on the "Top Aces" tab/page somewhat amusing if out of place: Edited October 14, 2015 by TG-55Panthercules
TG-55Panthercules Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) Looks like it's not just the textual reference to RoF in the mission logging error box that is the problem - apparently it's also not checking the BoS startup file for this determination. I set every log setting in the BoS startup file to 1, and still got the following popup after accepting a mission: Also, when I went into BoS to play the PWCG mission, I saw the "????" thing someone else noted above: But the game crashed when I hit the Prt Scrn button to take the screenshot (first time that's happened in quite a while), so I haven't been able to fly the mission yet. TG-55Panthercules Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Follow-up to the crash problem I noted just above - I've uploaded all the log files I could find in BoS that were created at the time of the crash (that had anything in them - there were several other log files created but they were empty), in case they help: http://www.mediafire.com/download/x2gsxu3n59k9fgg/Panther%27s_PWCG_for_BoS_error_log_files_-_1.zip
Jason_Williams Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 Ignore the question marks. It's because we don't have english translations of all the Cyrillic locations yet. There are going to be bugs due to ROF carry overs etc. Just try your best to get flying. And as Pat has mentioned all along, aces and skins are not in yet. Jason
Sokol1 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) Well, my try. Select Russian side, etc. The regiment give me a YAK-1 and design a ground attack mission... alone. After some navigation old school (IFRR) a sparse FLAK tell me that are in target area, but don't see nothing in the point indicated. upload image online Searching the target end finding other aircraft low, another YAK-1. take a screenshot Some circles after I see a smoke column in tree area and approaching receive AW fire from vehicles inside the tree, so launch my rockets there. photo sharing sites Then notice 3 planes appear above. Stukas, that engage in dogfight... 20mb image hosting Attack then and damage 2, but end damaged too. image hosting free Run away in reciprocal heading, engine stop and end in a crash land in middle of nowhere. But was rescued be Partisans, so survive for the next mission. gif upload The report say that I was injured - receive some weeks of license, damaged 2 Stuka, and give me credit for shoot down one. adult photo hosting For what matter the system work OK. PatrickAWlson Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Notes: Wound mod reference to be removed from advanced config Cobby is a place holder until I get a real ace. I used him to test. ??? Are what happens when you translate cyrillic into ASCII Scour code for RoF references Missing medal box Pilot pic did not update Intel screen tab names are not correct Desk top is WWI - change to WWII Good stuff. Also nothing too horrible. Some clean up. Going to be gone for a week. I'll check in again then. 3
zippyPerrserker Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Thanks so much for getting this going! And thanks Jason for supporting it. Just had my first try; had a BosCampaign freeze/crash after I had created my pilot and tried to double click on the pic, maybe this was because I hadn't flown a mission yet so there was no pilot log to see? Anyway tried again, this time went just fine. Used simple config and had air activity on high and ground on medium, very long load time for the mission but once in it everything played normally (i.e. I was shot down pretty fast). Time accel only went to 2x for some reason, unless that's all we're still allowed to go to? It's been a while so I'm not up on things. Great to see this up and running, and hope you enjoy your vacation Pat!
Brano Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Hi Patric, If you need help with translating russian names into english phonetics, let me know.I think I can help

beepee Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Thank you! Will have a look on my next day off.
keeno Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Thanks for this Pat, I've used PWCG in RoF since it was released and it is brilliant, I can't wait to give it a whirl in BoS. Cheers again.
[CPT]Pike*HarryM Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 This mission crashed as soon as the Stukas spawned in. http://webpages.charter.net/harrymcw/Il2/Missions.rar
Toxin1 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Great Job! Works really well so far. I noted that if you had Warham's wonderful IL-2 Career Generator installed then the Startup.cfg contains an additional line that places the mission log files in the folder "Log\ILCG". This will prevent PWCG BOS beta from finding the mission log files and the Mission Report function will be grayed out. This is an observation on my end, may not be an issue for others. Thanks to all involved for your efforts
Brano Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I must be doing smtg wrong I DL the file from Patrik site and put it into my ILBOS folder.Maybe a specific place where to put it?
Brano Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) Hi Patrik, Just a remark about VVS ranks. In those times pilots were leaving school with rank of serzhant (sergant in english). Down the list with more appropriate names for military ranks. English phonetics from lowest rank up to polkovnik = colonel ( this was rank for Air Division commander, regiment was led by podpolkovnik (lieutenant-colonel) or major. 1. Serzhant 2. Starshyi serzhant 3. Starshina 4. Mladshyi leyitenant 5. Leyitenant 6. Starshyi leyitenant 7. Kapitan 8. Major 9. Podpolkovnik 10. Polkovnik Edited October 15, 2015 by Brano 3
fjacobsen Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Starting from the runway, the waypoint, the leader, 2 wingmen and I took of. The leader and wingmen turned towards the waypoint, which was at the departure airport, but the waypoint never shiftet to the next and our flight just kept cirkling. FinnJ
Reflected Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I started a JG52 campaign yesterday and so far everything is smooth. I understand many features are not yet implemented, it's just a beta. Everything was very familiar though, from RoF. The only thing that did not work, and I think it should have, was that even though I selected a custom skin in the pilot menu, the mission didn't assign it to my plane. I also had to make some changes in the advanced config menu: I lowered the AI skills to give myself a chance, and unticked air starts. My squadmates behaved as they were expected to, no odd behaviors. It's already 3x more fun than the stock campaign mode, and the potential is hunge. Bravo, Pat! 1
Finkeren Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Clearly I must be doing something wrong. Everything seems to work fine apart from one thing: I can't file a mission report. I think I've followed Pats instructions: Set up the mission, click "accept" to generate, go into the sim, where the missions has now appeared, fly the mission, finish mission, go into PWCG and... what? The "combat report" button is greyed out to me, as if I didn't fly the mission. So far I haven't yet flown a succesful mission (flying LaGGs we're getting absolutely slaughtered by much smaller numbers of Bf 109s - hooray for realism!) Does the mission have to be succesful or generate results (apart from losses) in order to file a combat report? Otherwise everything seems great, if still obviously unfinished. I've noticed no performance issues, despite doing stress tests, where I set the maximum number of planes genrated to 50 (25 for each side) and number of opposing flights to 3. As soon as I find out how to progress, I'm all set for having massive amounts of fun. Great job so far Pat
Brano Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Ah,we can untick airstarts.I wondered why I always start up in the air Need more testing over weekend. So far very good for beta testing version.I need to memorize the names of my squadmates

Does the mission have to be succesful or generate results (apart from losses) in order to file a combat report? The mission definitely doesn't have to be successful, that's the beauty of it. No exit points either. As long as you survive and are not captured, you can fly the next day. If you are wounded, you have a recovery period. Is the generate mission text logs line set to 1 in your startup.cfg? If yes, try to exit PWCG after you accept the mission, and start it again once the mission is over. In RoF there was a GUI mod that enabled switching between PWCG and the game, it was a big help. 1

Thanks for the answer. In my startup.cfg it looks like this: [KEY = system] bin_log_folder = "" chatlog = 0 debug_info = 0 dlgbox_sky = 0 gamelog = 0 keep_binary_log = 0 mgenlog = 0 mission_text_log = 1 modes = 0 playoffline = 0 reset_configs = 0 show_net_skins = 1 skin_dir = "graphics\Skins\" text_log_folder = "logs\IL2CG\" Is that the right setup?
