Habu Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 I always use 7zip, but resaving the mission on the ME did the trick for us so maybe first go that route and if it doesnt work delete the .rar line. Ok, The first time i have the problem, i tried that way, but it didn't work.
yeikov Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 SYN_Haashashin, I've tried downloading your Andrey´s Life files, and the first 'zip' (https://www.dropbox.com/s/e0ex7n3heqviilx/Andreys%20Live.7z?dl=0) contains the same files as the second one (mission 2 in both cases). Am I using a wrong link? Thanks all for your sharing your work 1
SYN_Haashashin Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 Hi yeikov, I will fix it tomorrow. Thanks for the head ups.

coconut Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 (edited) Here comes a multiplayer mission on the velikie luki map "Russian Counter-Offensive". The Russians launch a massive attack to recapture the city. It is primarily aimed at ground attack and bombing missions. There are fewer fighters than bombers, and their number is limited. Bring back your aircraft to the airfield and it will be recycled. Lose it, and eventually your side will run out of planes at the airfield that is closest to the action (there two other airfields far away with unlimited aircrafts). The mission takes advantage of the new dynamic icons. When an objective loses relevance, its icon on the map disappears. When flying a bomber or an attack aircraft, the approximate position of your aircraft will be shown on the map to your side. The idea is to make it easy for bombers to get an escort after taking off. The primary objective of the Russian side is to protect the 4 tank groups that approach the city. If all 4 groups die, Russia loses. This means providing cover on one hand, but also locating and destroying anti-tank guns around and in the city. However, those have AAA defenses, which should probably be taken out first. There is a flight of 4 Ju52 with an escort that will provide additional anti-tank guns to the city's defenses if it reaches it (actually it lands a bit west of the city, and the guns are transferred to trucks that drive into the city). The tank groups start far away from the city, and destroying bridges will slow their advance (it won't stop it, though; they are smart enough to find alternative paths, or stop and repair bridges). There's a lot more going on in the map, I won't reveal it all at once. The missions starts early just before sunrise and goes on for 2-3 hours, or even more if bridges are destroyed. This is still work in progress. In particular, I'm planning to make the tank groups bigger and make them defend themselves when attacked during their trip to the front. When opened in the editor, the mission can be a bit daunting. Lots of icons and arrows. To ease modification, I have grouped most of my work in a group called "Custom". There are several depths of subgroups under that. I'll keep working on it. The latest version is always available from https://bitbucket.org/johdex/vliki/downloads . johdex-vliki-efce8b119f3b.zip Edited May 9, 2015 by coconut 2
Skoop Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Sounds great coconut, I will have to load this up and try it out. I like how your bombing affects the ground units on the battlefield. This seems like a great coop mission, which is what I have been trying to focus on. Is there friendly Ai that spawns along with enemy Ai ? I'm asking, because sometimes a coop mission only has 2 to 4 players, and having Ai bombers of fighters flying about can make the mission fun even when there aren't many players logged in. Also I noticed a server with your name in the MP deserver list that seemed to be running this mission, I tried to loggin and fly it but I keep getting the 10019 "can't access data error".
coconut Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 (edited) @Skoop: I have just started adding a coop/single player dimension to this mission. By spawning certain special aircrafts that have the name of a mission, friendly AIs are spawned. The first mission "Crane" is a flight of 3 he111 attacking a bridge and AAA. The player also flies a he111 and is expected to follow the AI mirroring their actions. Other than that, there already are AIs in the air: Russians have patrols over the roads that tanks drive on. On the German side, a supply flight of Ju52 is escorted by 2 Bf109. I tried attacking the convoy by myself but had to turn around injured and smoking. Definitely a challenge for one player, but should be perfect for a pair or a triplet in coop. I think I'll follow that recipe for my future missions: Design an AI-rich mission that lasts 2 hours or more. Even without players, it should be fun to just sit and spectate the battle. Once I have this, I add a few missions within the mission. I'm hoping the missions within the mission don't need to be super-complex: bombing job, ground attack, escort, interception, maybe also recon. The fun and immersion should come from the things happening around in the air and on the ground, and seeing the effects of one's actions. If you download the mission, I advise you to grab it from the link to bitbucket. Things change on a continuous basis during week-ends and holidays, I don't want to flood this forum with new zips every day. Edited May 10, 2015 by coconut 1
coconut Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Regarding the download error: I have two ethernet connectors on my PC (no idea why, but that appears to be common on modern motherboards), and that was enough to brake forwarding of the download ports through my router, because I was using the "wrong" one. Hopefully fixed now. Welcome to join if you see my server!
Skoop Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Sounds great coconut, I will give it a try late tonight when I'm done with family stuff. It sounds like you have an excellent grasp of the FMB.
Skoop Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Played both of your MP missions coconut over the last couple days (V-liki Counterattack and Attack at Kalach). I Tried the V-liki Russian counter attack on your server, but the mission ended with a russian win. I loaded up the mission on my own server and played it solo. It was a blast, I started with 2 nite dive bombing sorties in PE2s then switched to IL2s to mop up. I was able to kill all the arty, and the friendly tanks made it into the city for a Russian win. This mission would be great as a coop with a little more ai aircraft on each side. It's great as is for PvP with say 20 vs 20 players, that would be a blast to see. Played the attack on Kalach MP version, and I like this mission better in MP. This one is by far one of my favorite missions, I like what you did with the AI and the phases. Would be great to play this with about 6 players all on the same side as a coop, but it works PvP also. Keep up the good work, can't wait to see what you come up with next.
Veteran66 Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 new Mission up to Mission4Today I./JG51 over Velikie Luki you need the Fw190 to play the Mission this is the first Mission for the I./JG51, more to come later note the Mission have many new radio voices for ww2 combat feeling, i hope you like it. coconut Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Thanks for the feedback Skoop! This mission would be great as a coop with a little more ai aircraft on each side I'm currently designing a number of "missions within the mission" consisting in flights of AI (bombers and attack planes) taking off and bombing things. Hopefully that will provide an enjoyable experience in single player and small coop mode. 2

Coconut, I was wondering if I could try to post your mission using my dserver since your server time is limited (of course using your name in the title. ) I'm currently unable to get the fmb to work at all and would like try using the dserver and give your amazing mission set a little more exposure when possible.
coconut Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Roaming_gnome: you are welcome to run my mission on your server. The latest version can be downloaded from bit bucket, see my post earlier in this thread.
No601_Swallow Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) Simple squadron training mission: MP 2v2. In this mission there are 12 airstarts, 6 leading to a head-on merge with 2 109 G2s, and six leading to a chase situation, with 2 109 F4s spawning on your low six. All the spawning locations are at 3000m, with all 109s at "Normal" skill level. A couple of things: the 109s spawn in (not activate) 5 seconds after the first player spawns in. 1) If a player is killed, he can respawn and the 109s will be exactly where they were, ready to be finished off! 2) If both 109s go down (critical damage), two new 109s will spawn in next time a player spawns in. 3) If both players select "finish mission", the 109s are deleted, thus "resetting" the encounter, and a fresh pair of 109s will spawn in next time a player spawns in. In theory, the mission doesn't need to be restarted by the host. People can practice until they develop calluses on their trigger pinkie. I'm pretty sure it works, but we've only had a chance to test it with multiple players once. If you give it a try, please tell me if something isn't working properly. By the way, Kalach is equipped with AAA, if you want somewhere friendly to flee! Edited September 4, 2015 by SYN_Haashashin Better late than never
No601_Swallow Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Apologies all. I've had problems getting the deletion consistent. Turns out the radius of my trigger was too small. Grrr. I think. Anyway, I think this revised version works better. MP 2v2.zip
No601_Swallow Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 (Request to a Kindly Mod!: Could you please delete the attached file to my first post (No. 180), so noone tries it? I'm pretty sure the second file (No.181) works better. Cheers!)
LFDM-Carleo Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Well Dear Coconut, i'm glad to give this oscar for your "VELIKIE LUKI COUNTER OFFENSIVE" mission and for all your work More serioulsy you ve done a great job with this mission Some details to upgrade but you have mentioned some on the briefing (fire camp in the sky ^^) I have realised the mission 3 ont the russian side the objective on the map disapear but we don't have any message to inform us of the result like you done for the mission 1 whit the debriefing message on the top screen the 2 IAs continu to flight over the objective until they don't have fuel even the objective desapear on the map The flak on the south Veliki artillery seems very light i dont know if its your intention targets are very difficult to distinguish between trees and smokes Sorry if my english is approximative but you know i'm french ^^ Continu your work it is awesome
IRRE_Golgoth21 Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Congrats Coconut... it is very outstanding !!!! Impressive job !!!! you masterize that editor !!!! VELIKIE LUKI COUNTER OFFENSIVE is a masterpiece.
Urra Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Congrats Coconut... it is very outstanding !!!! Impressive job !!!! you masterize that editor !!!! VELIKIE LUKI COUNTER OFFENSIVE is a masterpiece. Kind of like a VanGogh.
coconut Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Thanks guys, glad you liked the mission. I'll have a look at the problems Carleo mentioned. Regarding flak: It's a bit light, especially on the German side. Not really intended, there's probably a lot more that's off, balance-wise.
Jupp Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 (edited) ~S~ CoCo, Not to worry, nothing is ever truly finished. And thank you for your contributions to our hobby. A couple of your offerings have been spot on correct & cool and I've learned from your examples. Watch this space for some new materials from me, pending final shakedowns. Learn, teach, learn. Much appreciated, Jupp ~S~ Edited May 23, 2015 by Jupp
coconut Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Hi Jupp, I saw you had a server going yesterday or the day before. I had a quick look at a mission on the smaller Nosokolniky map, it looked interesting. The mission was ending in 10 minutes. so I didn't stay, but I'm looking forward to seeing your work. I also tried the Eagle's Nest today. Lots of things to pick and do it seems, but without players it felt a bit empty. That's OK, it made it a pretty relaxing time. I managed to navigate my way to the German scout and shoot it down, return to base and "successfully land" my Lagg (ahem...). The ping was pretty high (163ms), but that was hardly noticeable against the AI He111.
Jupp Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 S! Coconut, Nearly done with as much as is needed to share,... here's a sequence from the part 2 (second hour's worth) of "Goodbye Blue Sky".
samson Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Hey, Jupp. How did you managed soldiers WALK around? It's understood how to make them appear and STIR, but not really move...
Jupp Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 ~S~ Samson, It's simply a Block called "arf tower 2", nothing linked to it. Created as Linked Entity, Country set (The one shown is Germany, but it works the same as Russian), and placed.
SYN_Haashashin Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 Hi guys,O have Been with out internet for couple of weeks and it seems I will have to wait 2 more at least. Moving due to a new job and got a place to live in the middle of nowhere, a very nice one with my own swimming pool hehehe but really bad Internet services. As soon as I got settle and have Internet in my place (Im at the neighbors house right now) I will update the first post and will do the same with the groups sharing one.SEdit: I also still working on Andreys life, have couple of missions on the go. 4
coconut Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Here comes what I would consider a reasonably bug-free version of my multi-player mission: Counter-Offensive on Velikie-Luki. Enjoy. Warning: loading times are long, please be patient. Also requires a pretty strong CPU: I'm using a core i5 running at 3.8Ghz, and average CPU usage is 17%, which is about 70% of one CPU. -=PHX=-Satch Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Hi Coconut! I´am setting up a dserver with your mission "Attack to Kalach" version MP. My question is if it´s posible to fly this mission in pseudo coop mode, picking planes only from one side... are IA planes spawning from the other side or not? Sorry my english
coconut Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Hi Pablo, Yes, you can play it as a coop, if you play as Russians. You could also play as Germans, but someone will have to spawn on the Russian side to start the Russian AIs. After that, that person is free to switch sides and respawn as German.
216th_Xenos Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) When posting a mission, could you be sure to specify which plane and what sort of mission it is? It helps those like me who are too stubborn to enjoy all the planes in the game choose a mission Edited June 5, 2015 by N1SB.Xenos
-=PHX=-Satch Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 (edited) Thanks Coconut! you are making a great work with the ME! Edited June 7, 2015 by [AoA]Pablo
SYN_Haashashin Posted June 18, 2015 Author Posted June 18, 2015 Final touches on Andreys Life 4• mission are been done as I type. This one will be the first mission featuring SPA23_MikiBzn(Thanks!) random group which allowed me to build a 4 in 1 mission. Final tests needs to be done so expect it later this weekend or early next week lastest. Cheers 2
Jupp Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 ~S~ Everyone, Brace yourselves! I've now created my own thread, to start rolling out the samples of what I've done lately with the Mission Editor under v1.011. My love is Multiplayer Sessions, and Mission Based Flying, from a unique perspective, and it shows in both arrangement of Logic, and Execution. I'll let the first shot speak for it's self, this is a divergence from anything else that I have seen yet, and I hope to expand the genre' further as we go. Here is a link to my sophomoric attempt, offering players what they have requested in the last few months, & sincerely would appreciate your feedbacks. Blue Skies, !S -Jupp- http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/17002-jupps-missions/
