I was hoping to gift my license of BoK to Cartmanoza2 but am unable to find a way to do so in my profile options. Anyone able to lend me some tips? I am assuming its still within its 'giftable' limits...

I'm not completly sure about that

If you buy BoS and BoBp on steam

And BoM and BoK on webpage

You Will be able to play ALL  modules starting the game from steam(if you liked the accounts), it's how I play.

But I THINK you can't play all modules if you start from the il2 launcher (not steam)

You will only see BoM,BoK

As I understand, if you link accounts, steam can see your il2sturmovik.com purchases

But  il2sturmovik.com can't see your steam purchases

Also having 2 separate instals has no point, both have all the content, just not the access to it.

Either play from steam with Linked  accounts. Or Rebuy everything on webpage (sale going on right now).

What do you mean?

You have BoS form steam and other module from il2sturmovic.com?

Because BoS IS Great Battles... BoS is the first module.

BoM is the second module

BoK is the third, at this point, all 3 where considered part of the Great Battles series to distinguish them from il2 Clifs of dover and il2 1946 wich are separste games on diferent engines.

Then it came Flying Circus,Tank Crew and BoBp the 4th, 5th and 6th modules.

So BoS, BoM, BoK, BoBo, FC and TC ARE the Great Battles

Il2 CloD and il2 1946 (the original) are not

I linked account  and can play all without have to swap games thanks for the help Guy's

Good evening Gents

After 10+ years I am getting back into the flying game so I have....a few questions.  First off I just picked up Bodenplatte, and I have heard that I also need to get  Stalingrad in order to play Bodenplatte....is this correct?  I was under the impression that they were kind of stand alone.  I was also browsing about, and have noticed that both my beloved MC205 and G55 arent in the new iterations of IL-2....please tell me they are going to make it in game in the future.  Thanks!

Only customers on Steam need to purchase Stalingrad if they wish to purchase Bodenplatte.

They are not featured in the upcoming products that have been announced, so nobody knows. Usually aircraft are only created if they fit a particular region and period of time.

I went directly to IL-2's website and purchased it there....I like to know that the developers get their due; after all, they did create the game.  That being said, thanks for the info its very much appreciated.  As for the other question....I sure hope that they eventually put in at least the MC-205....I loved that plane in 46.

Hi, I've got gifted license key for BoK by R33GZ(Thank you :) ), but to the wrong account. I've created first account and didn't know how to connect it to steam so I've created second account with 2 added. However, by mistake I've got gifted it to the first account which has no licenses tied to it. Is there any way to transfer it to my second account? In License keys tab I see only Activate button.

You should be able to gift a gifted game, O think once...

If not, maybe try contacting suport.

I've wrote to support at Saturday, but so far didn't hear anything back. I've searched for all options in profile settings, but there is only Activate button next to the license key and I don't wanna activate it by accident trying to find out if it can gift it to another profile.

This has been up resonantly.
Jason said a gift could be regifted twice.
But many more said it cannot be done, it is restricted because people have sold their gifts before ( imagine ? how low can people get?)

Anyway. Your best bet is support, they do reply, normally within hours on workdays.

Am starting to dabble in "Careers" and thought the best way to learn what's going on is to play "Monkey see, monkey do".

Question, why fly to the target, fly directly back to the base , and drop the bombs just before landing?

I kinda thought the target was the place to drop one's bombs. I'm the only one who fired rockets and dropped bombs on target. OOps?

Is flying directly back to base correct? I thought one looked for "Targets of opportunity" on the way back.

Just wondering.....

Hey all, Old new player here.

I remember in Rise of Flight that in your careers (not sure whether the in game one or pwcg) there was something about that you should not drop your bombs before the leader drops his. As if you dropped before him the entire flight would then decline to drop their bombs. Instead dropping when the leader drops theirs or after the entire flight would follow suit. So wonder if this continues to be the case in Great Battles? I've not done much careers in Great Battles but seem to remember mine dropped theirs?

 Hi,

You can fly offline. Just be carefull NOT all modes are aviable.

You CANT fly multiplayer offline ofcourse!, But also you can't fly "dinamic" carrer offline, as far as I know, the missions themselves are generated on 1C/777 servers and sent to you by internet conection.

On the other hand "I think" you can fly scripted campaigns/missions while offline, of wich you can find free and payed ones, and are really good.

Also you can download an "app" PWCG wich Lets you run a dinamic campaign diferent to the ingame one, wich many consider really good, and can be used offline.

Cheers

It looks fantastic? I'm headed home for the weekend, First stop...a little computer shop/store where I bought my first copy of IL 2 and see if they have any of those ffb sticks around they deal in older stuff.

otherwise I'll have to order one on Ebay, I really liked flying with that stick maybe I'll try pairing it with a throttle.  ?

thanks Fernando. I'm betting I can stock up on enough single missions to keep a smile on my face. I've forgotten what it was called but I used a dynamic campaign gen with IL 2. It was very good and gened up some pretty tuff mission. these days I fly very low and very very slow in SH3...but I think I'm itching to soar again?

I recently bought all the campaigns for BoX and am enjoying the details and flights. I appreciate the product has to be protected but am I right that you cannot play careers offline. The comments above suggest you can but when I log on it says only single missions offline. Does this mean if my internet goes down then I cannot continue the careers. Can you confirm which is correct or should I check with support.

Career requires an online connection.

Alternatively, you can play a single player campaign offline utilizing PWCG.

It is a great tool that provides very good single player campaigns.

Thank you dburne for your prompt reply. I take it you mean all careers not just multi player. e.g. Ring Circus which I am enjoying at present while online.

Next question if I may. The computer I loaded BoX onto is ten years old but runs the sim very well. However, it is starting to suffer from the MS updates which often means they reset my system or freeze up so I have to wait hours for a reboot. Therefore I have bought a new computer to use offline. Can I transfer the BoX to the new pc or do I have to download again. I tried to transfer with a usb stick but the BoX was not recognised on the new rig even though it is now listed in the drive. If my old rig ceases then I will lose the lot and have wasted my money unless I can use another pc.

As if to underline my last email, my pc crashed this morning with another update and I had to wait 7 hours for it to reboot. Meanwhile I had no access to BoX which I could have flown on my back up pc to while away the hours. Is there some way I can set the back up with a shortcut so I can go online and play next time the main pc crashes.

That's amazing, and it's amazing you have a backup computer that I assume is even older!

Hi cardboard killer. My old Sony Vaio has given great service over the years. My back up is actually a new rig, a HP Omen with more modern graphics etc.

I want to start first by apologizing if I am posting in the wrong spot or if this has been posted previously. Also, I am not really a tech savvy guy, but am capable of doing some research. I guess I have enough knowledge to really be dangerous to my hardware. I had some questions about my current setup and its capabilities.

Setup: Acer 5 laptop

i5-9300hcpu

RAM-8GB (7.85 usable)

64-bit processor

Gtx 1650 GPU (overclocked with msi afterburner)

Game(bos) is downloaded to SSD

Thrustmaster flightpack mounted up to my sim rig

Hdmi Port to Panasonic 1080p projector

What I've done so far...

After some initial setup changes to optimize graphics (it was unplayable initially, just a jerking pixelated mess. Think it was switching between integrated gpu and gtx for power saving mode...I guess) The game would run quick missions and run beautiful at moderate-high graphics. Crashed every time I started career mode. I assumed it was the gpu crashing based on the symptoms(screen lock, multiple windows with errors relating to graphics etc) After clocking back a bit, career will run at moderate-low graphics but only for about 30minutes-ish. I'm guessing I'm hitting a voltage limit at some point as the temp seems stable at around 50°c(voltage and temp limit is not available for adjustment with this gpu it appears) I have managed to side step core voltage adjustment(that was blocked through afterburner) in an attempt to lower voltage slightly because I have heard you can still take advantage  of a performance boost at (slightly) lower voltage and give a bit more buffer in voltage max (but I have no fxkin idea if that is true or if I can even accomplish this through voltage mapping)

What I'm doing next...

Clocking back until stable game play is achieved (fingers crossed)

Or reaching stock settings and attempting to drop voltage to avoid the theorized overvoltage crash and stepping overclock back up to highest stable level.

My questions...

Is all this dicking around even worth it? Am I way off in assuming that my current setup would be able to run this game effectively at moderate settings? Will I be able to play online multi-player? Has my attempt to optimize my game play actually set me backwards? (I tested overclock through kombuster and it seemed stable, but clearly in real world applications that doesn't seem to work. Remember career wouldn't even load first mission without crashing. Also hard to deny the fact that after clocking back, crashes have been reduced/ delayed)

I'm thinking I've set myself backwards and now I'm so deep down the rabbit hole trying to get my overclock settings to run that I should just tuck sack, reset to stock, and play this game at low graphic settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really love the game, especially when I'm blowing planes out of the sky and not spinning around uncontrollably on the runway.

I think all you are going to accomplish by o/c a laptop is a cooked CPU or GPU. Most likley what you are seeing after a mission or two is the CPU/GPU heat throttling down to survive. I was using an Alienware R7 with i7 and RTX 1080i at stock settings and seeing temps go too high and CPU slowdowns (clean fans, elevated for better airflow, etc.). Get MSI afterburner and monitor temps/CPU-GPU mem usage, etc while in game, but I think with 8MB and laptop cooling you are beating a dead horse..

I just put together a cockpit (new to flight sims) and looking to see what flight sim titles are out there (purchased msfs 2020 of course!) I am interested in this game but curious if there is a healthy active multi player community and is there anywhere to see current servers/players?  How is the game in single player?  How do you know what to buy, you look on steam and there are ~20 different things.. what version/versions should a newbie be purchasing first?  Also, how is the multi monitor support?  Nvidia surround work properly in the game? (no stretching/distortion etc)?

I'm quite new to IL-2 and flight sims in general, but I'm excited to learn. I just got BOS on the crazy sale deal (I also have about 10 hours on COD and about 20 on 1946).

I'm eager to learn to fly and fight in an easy plane to start, BUT I'm just a bit less excited by the Bf-109 than other people. I just dig the Russians a bit more, generally, I suppose. The planes I'm most eager about are the IL-2, Yak-1, LaGG-3 and La-5, and to a lesser extent the FW190. I'd like to try some bombing and air combat. I'm aware it's best to stick to one plane for a while at first, so which do you guys think I should pick in the game's current state?

I feel the same way about the 109. For the USSR group, I've stuck mostly with the Yak1 and the La5, when I can. The Yak1 is very easy to fly with complex engine management, as is the La5. And don't neglect the Il-2 for ground pounding.

Thanks! I think those 3 will probably be the ones I stick to at first. Can you tell me what you like about the Yak and La-5? ?

The Yak-1 is a great starter plane IMO - others will likely disagree. Maneuverable, easy to fly, not too hard to get around on the ground, it performs quite well and has good armament. The biggest benefit to learning on the Yak-1 is that the engine settings are fully manual. You control the throttle, RPM, mixture, supercharger switch, oil radiator, and water radiator. This seems intimidating BUT the Yak-1's engine is basically indestructible EXCEPT to overheating. You can run the RPM and Throttle balls to the wall at all times and not break the engine. The easiest way to fly the Yak is just to open the oil and water radiators to about half to 3/4s depending on what you're doing and then just fly around at full throttle at all times. You don't have to worry about killing the engine because of an engine timer, but you learn hot to manage temperatures, fuel consumption, and you get all your keybinds sorted out.

Check out Requiem's videos - he teaches you the basics of every airplane, engine management, and other things in short, easily digestible tutorials. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwV5RLX7mkaDy5gTIiuwGmg

I was about to say the opposite. It's true that Yak 1 is really easy to maneuver, but German planes have plenty of automation, what could be an advantage if familiarising with the interface and the behaviour of the sim itself. Personally I enjoy a lot more flying VVS planes but you have to control more variables.

Run, do not walk, to the webstore and buy Battle of Stalingrad, currently on sale for 85% off, or $7.49/11.49 for the standard/premium titles (premium comes with the Fw-190A3 and the La-5). Servers are relatively active. The game in single player lacks great AI, but no AI will really cause a human problems for years to come. I'd label it adequate, but need to play MP for full immersion and skill level. Again, for $7.49, the cost of lunch at Wendy's, buy it and try it!

Sure. The Yak is very maneuverable at low speeds; while everything is manual (Mixture, Oil and water radiator, RPM and throttle) the settings don't change much and the learning curb is shallow for most of them (e.g. for the above I can set 100%, 60%, 50%, 100% and vary throttle for most every flying situation under 3000 meters (see Sheriff's excellent Yak video)). The Yak is easy to  taxi if you don't unlock the tail wheel, and easy to land. It is also a good gun platform, but with lousy guns.

Now you dont' get all that without negatives. The early yaks are not as good as the Bf-109s due to the 109s climbing ability, speed in a dive, and even low speed maneuverability due to its leading edge wing slats. The later Yaks are all better than the early/mid war 109s, though IMO. And the yak, perhaps worst of all, is a slow accelerator .

Now, the La-5 is most things the Yak isn't. It maneuvers great at 400+kph, and just okay at low speeds. It is a bear to taxi and land. But it's fast on the deck and accelerates quickly there. And engine management is even easier despite have even more to control.
