LuftManu Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 Hello friends! I've been creating content as multiplayer missions for years for my old squadron. Also in other simulators. I've always been watching the single player content "from the outside" and enjoying the amazing campaigns here. Whether official or from the community. With the passage of time and well, my insatiable desire to achieve something more I've decided to take the plunge and create content in the forms of single player campaigns. The Il-2 editor is complex, but like any other editor, with desire and work, you can do amazing things. After helping the team with testing and other things during the years, I would like to one day be able to deliver a quality campaign for the simulator too! As an enthusiast from WW2 aviation, it just needs to happen! Right now (and after years of trying) I have accomplished learning a big chunk of how things work with the editor and so, I think it's time to give it a go! Also, after seeing the message from the team of a new possible FM revisioon for P-47 during this year I thought this was the moment to encourage me and also to show what I am capable of. Therefore I present "Thunderbolts over France", a small campaign with the Thunderbolt (3 or 4 missions) that explores certain "typical" missions of the P-47 during this period. My idea is to create a simple narrative, but enough to give some context for the missions. These missions are not "specifically researched" but rather, an scheme of the typical combat sorties the Thunderbots flew using several AARs from these times. Also this gives me some freedom to create the content, but always realism is still my main objective. I would like to launch it when we have the new flight model and enjoy it. Campaign Premise: "Thunderbolts Over France" Description: Prepare for a brief yet intense aerial adventure in IL-2 Sturmovik's short single-player campaign: "Thunderbolts Over France." Take control of a Razorback P-47 Thunderbolt in Early '44 and immerse yourself in the adrenaline-fueled challenges of World War II ETO combat. As Carl, a young American pilot, you'll navigate the skies above France, facing daunting missions and the mighty Luftwaffe yet to be defeated. Follow Carl's journey as he transitions from a rookie pilot to a seasoned warrior in the 390 FS. His first combat mission looms ahead—a daring attempt to provide cover for allied bombers attacking a railway near Caen. Flying at 25,000 feet, Carl must navigate the bitter cold and evade relentless German opposition. As well as the Luftwaffe fights back, witness the resilience of the British allies and the somber atmosphere engulfing war-torn ambience. This is not what a hero story looks like. Experience the camaraderie of the British allies and the somber reality of war-torn England. Despite the challenges, Carl remains steadfast, driven by a sense of duty and the pursuit of being an Ace. Features: Engage in thrilling tactical aerial combat missions with the iconic P-47 Thunderbolt. Escort allied bombers over the skies of France, confronting relentless German opposition. Attack German troops in the occupied France and limp back to England with a damaged but sturdy Thunderbolt Cross the Channel in a yet cold climate as Spring comes to life and preparations for Operation Overlord Begin. This is a new "thing for me" as I am not even a native English Speaker, so yeah, it wil be fun! As soon as I have more info, I will update this thread. My desire would be to actually make this and other campaigns, also with the future next project. I wish to launch this campaign as soon as we have an updated FM that the team said on the video interview. Kind regards! 16 8 12

LuftManu Posted February 22, 2024 Author Posted February 22, 2024 Hello guys!I need your help I am looking for american English accent voice actors! My accent won't cut it after several tests ? If you are interested, please send me a PM! I need at least 2 actors. One for the protagonist and one for our dear flight leader. I would like to start first with the demo and if it works, we will prepare the script for the other two missions. I also share some snippet from the demo. The video was rendered at 25fps, hence the low refresh rate. Kind regards, 3

YoYo Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 Nice work! Btw. I didnt know that you can add voices and speeches for the scripted campaign in IL-2 BoX. Good move, cant wait! ? 1

Good move, cant wait! ? You can, it's in many of them. Hell Hawks, Lightning Strikes, Battle of the Hurtgen, etc. Just be careful how long the tracks are because you cannot have any other MCUs or commands triggered or working while a media player is running. They will be overwritten and fail to execute. Timers will still run, but that's about it. 1

Wrangling voice actors and sound file editing was a huge part of the time-suck that was building Hell Hawks. 1

It’s a little unfortunate that (edit... some of) the custom skins had to go away but apparently not everyone reads the forums so they can download them, and with the scripted campaigns on steam now all the planes are being converted to the Tactical ID codes I haven’t had a chance to fly the improved P-47 yet but I hear it maneuvers and climbs much better than before. The custom skins really contribute to the immersion and Bugsy did a great job on them. Minimally they could have provided a link on the download page. Shame really. In any case, not your fault, and I appreciate you keeping the maintenance up.

In any case, not your fault, and I appreciate you keeping the maintenance up. You're welcome. They have added 7 of Bugsy's 365th skins as official options under the "custom" skin area. There are 22 "official" skins and 3 of those are now generic 365th fighter group skins. I believe you had enough for almost 3 flights so about 12 before in the download. Now we can fill all 3 flights plus the other squadrons with a couple of less skins and no separate download. Win-win I think. Only a couple of custom skins were left out and they were fairly generic. I intentionally made the alpha layer, metal color and particularly the blue stripe color of the generic blank skins match Bugsy's skins so they all look good flying together.
