LuftManu Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 Okay, I will go for one more offtopic here @Trooper117 @Gambit21 I can see some complaints and I am sure there are some post caught in the crossfire. If that is what happened, then I am sorry if I hid a post it didn't need to be hidden. (And I am sure the rest of the team too) I can also attest that there were some nasty things said to another members so in that case, something had to be done. In all seriouness, it was really nasty. So, if we all understand that personal attacks, political comments and of course the rest of the rules are out of bound... I can say that I can take the extra time to explain why I some post are hidden. Of course this is a huge amount of time, but I would be more relaxed (and I hope you would be too). Please if anybody feels their message has been hidden, write a PM and I am sure we all have a reason. Of course, we can not agree, but abiding by the rules I hope we can come to an understanding. Let's try and focus again on the topic (I will be reading PMs tomorrow and happy to answer).
Mainstay Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 So it seems to be Korea? To lazy to go through all the pages ?? Thats to bad… ? really not my cup of tea. Was really hoping for the pacific theatre (zeros, dauntlesses and many more)… Guess the IL2 story ends for me here. Wake me up when the above scenario happens ? 1
Avimimus Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 I would request that people don't discuss moderation decisions here as it violates rule 6: Send a direct message to the moderators or the community manager. We can even set up a private discussion with everyone who is interested to get/give feedback. But Rule 6 will be enforced moving forward (see above), for consistency we do have to try to apply rules impartially. P.S. I do try to let people know why a post had to be hidden, and I often send a copy of the post to the person in question (so they have access to it, in case they want to repost a modified version of it). Several of you can attest to this. It is time consuming to do. If someone hides a post without explanation (because they are too busy), then you can always reach out and ask.
BraveSirRobin Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 Ok, I think I understand the new rules. If the developer posts a video that includes an IL10 and B-29, which means they’re obviously hinting that the next game is Korea, if someone says “well, it might not be Korea”, I am not longer allowed to say “don’t be ridiculous, of course it’s Korea”. Now I have to say, “well, I suppose all the obvious signs that it’s Korea could totally be a scam. Maybe it’s… um…um…”. Ok, I guess I don’t understand the new rules. Because it’s obviously Korea.

Yeah, LukeFF was asked if the Korean war object images posted in the video were were a oversight missed by the proof reader, or they were intentionally placed there as examples of things they are working on. He responded (paraphrase) they were there on purpose. I don't think those images were intended to mislead us, so it appears pretty obvious it's gonna be Korea. Hope it sells well for them. BlitzPig_EL Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 Properly done, as I'm sure it will be, Korea offers something for almost everyone that likes virtual air combat. High speed, high altitude engagements, and plenty of things on the ground that need blowing up, and a wide variety of machines to accomplish both those things. After 20+ years of the same old thing, I look forward to something different, which Korea will amply offer us. I'm optimistic, and I don't care about motives, or speculation on why or why not communication has been what it is. What is important is that the genre is moving forward, which is something we all should be happy about. 4 1 8

It is not a problem to have a new project on the desk, new content, DLC or a change in the engine software, or even developing something new. The biggest problem that hit many people here at the forum and changed the discussion "atmosphere" between the people and fans of the il2 Franchise. What realy happen was a hard cut, of weekly informations, weekly updates and devblog. We had a feeling of continuation, connection and communication with the development team of our beloved simgame. The current "bad" situation is caused by our "impression" of lag of information or communications from the Devteam! If you compare it with other games, development teams, il2 was unique by its weekly updates, provided for many many years. Right now we have a normal info situation, with sometimes bad "translated" infos, provided by the devs. The result is, we are pissed cause we feel, we have lost the connection to the guys who are "responsible" for the success of our ongoing hobby. All I see, is a missunderstood new situation for us all. 3

Jade_Monkey Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 I know many of you are looking for news regarding the Q&A. Here is a quick update from ChatGPT: Quote Once upon a time in the enigmatic land of Matryoshkaland, renowned Russian translators Boris and Natasha found themselves on a quest of linguistic proportions. Their mission: to uncover the mythical ancient codex that held the secrets to translating an elusive script for a highly anticipated Q&A session. Armed with dictionaries, a dash of skepticism, and an unhealthy obsession with borscht, the dynamic duo embarked on a journey that would rival the most epic of Russian novels. The codex, said to be hidden in the frosty depths of Siberia, promised answers to the linguistic mysteries that had perplexed even the most cunning translators. As Boris and Natasha trudged through the snow-covered landscapes, they encountered talking bears, babushkas armed with rolling pins, and the occasional dancing balalaika-playing snowman. The land of Matryoshkaland had a peculiar sense of humor, and it seemed that even the elements conspired to play pranks on the unsuspecting duo. The codex, they soon discovered, was not just a book but a series of Matryoshka dolls nested within each other. Each layer revealed a new linguistic challenge, from deciphering ancient Russian puns to translating the sassy remarks of a centuries-old babushka spirit. Amidst the chaos, Boris and Natasha couldn't help but exchange sarcastic remarks about the absurdity of their quest. "Who knew translating could be so entertaining?" quipped Boris as they decoded a particularly cheeky riddle written in rhyming bear poetry. As they reached the final layer of the codex, the duo found themselves face-to-face with the Matryoshka Oracle, a wise old doll with a penchant for deadpan humor. "You seek the secrets of translation, young linguists?" she intoned with a wry smile. "To master the script, one must understand the delicate dance between vowels and consonants, like a Cossack performing the kazatsky." With newfound wisdom and a touch of sarcasm, Boris and Natasha returned to the Q&A session armed with their linguistic prowess. The crowd marveled at their ability to translate not just words, but the subtle nuances of Matryoshkaland humor. And so, the tale of Boris and Natasha, the sarcastic Russian translators, became a legend in the world of linguistics—a reminder that sometimes, the key to unraveling mysteries lies in a good laugh and a well-timed babushka joke. 1
Frequent_Flyer Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 If in fact, it is Korea next.It would be dissapointing to me. In my opionion, the best installment of the original IL-2 was, Pacific Fighters". However, my complaint is the ground textures looked like you were flying over felt. Which would have been remedied by the the " Great Battles " team. Nothing gets the adrenaline pumping like tipping over your dive bomber and seeing the deck of a carrier fill your sight, through all of the AAA .Afterward, being pursued by the emeny fighters back to your carrier, hoping it is still afloat.. I am very much looking forward to the two new maps, alegedly to be released in 2024. I'd pay $50 US for the F2A Buffalo as an add-on the the Karelia map. 2

Yes, this is my impression too... a lot of developers only put out information shortly before release, or maybe provide quarterly or bimonthly updates... we got used to weekly articles with new information and new pictures. It is also worth remembering that this wasn't always the case - earlier on the updates were once every two weeks (and sometimes much further apart than that)... it was only in recent years with a very rapid pace of development for three product lines simultaneously that we were able to get such frequent updates. So we just aren't used to infrequent updates or there being a longer dry-spell between releases.

FTC_Kongoo Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 (edited) Wow this thread went out of hand...anyways I´m estatic that it seems to be leading into Korea. I´ve dove into reading up on the Korea conflict in the past few years from the aerial perspective and wow, there was A LOT going on. Whats not to like about it? Iconic props such as p-51, F4U corsair. Yak9P , and early jet combat, which is essentially ww2 fighting on steroids. From 1950-1953 some months of the year had daily scrambles of aircraft, air combat and air to ground raids, with some battles having over 100s of fighters in mig alley, which in itself is not a very extended piece of sky. I also tried the Mig and Sabre from DCS and still actively fly it and it is IMO , the most unique experience in aircombat you can have, ranging from high altitidude slow paced 3D chess to the low alt fast paced high G action. Those 2 jets are so asymetrically close in performance that I think there hasn´t ever been that kind of parity, in an air combat matchup. Ultimately I think that 1C made the best decision if it does turn out to be Korea. Korea hasn´t been properly developed theatre wise in a flight sim, ever. They won´t really be competing with DCS on that theatre, at least for a few years ( why o' why did they sit on it for a decade?) or any other sim. The theatre has more to offer than a late war eastern front map in terms of content, assets and map variety in relation to the historical accounts. Furthermore, if they had oriented towards( if they could do it) a pacific themed title they would be competing with DCS and combat pilot. Now, for my concerns: The main one being flight model issues in the great battles series and Il2 has to make improvements in this regard. I´m even skeptical if they will get the uncommanded roll and aileron reversal right on both jets ( more pronounced in the mig). Hopefully the map will cover the entire peninsula and manchuria instead of dividing into multiples Here is to hoping ! See you in the korean skies in a few years! ww2fighter20 Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 (edited) So Korea it is then, I am actually surprised in the end considering: Many planes can't really be used in other well known conflicts, many props if not all are different then their ww2 variants and with the La7/Yak3/Ta152/Ju87D5 planned as collectors there seems to be no plans to return for an late eastern front 1944-1945 module. While there are lots of options for UN/USA, the plane options that people have listed here for the North are lacking for alternative options, only 1 jet (Mig15) and 1 attacker (IL10), aircraft like the Yak11/Yak18/An2 are unlikely to happen and are likely similar in gameplay to the Po2 in ww2, Tu2 is unlikely to happen considering it's an slow medium bomber and the devs have not shown much interest last years to make these type of planes flyable, only Li-2 and Ar234 were exceptions since 1 is famous (Li-2) and another is an jet bomber in a ww2 setting (Ar234), fighters like the Yak9P and La9/La11 to my knowledge can't carry bombs so if they don't provide an competitive edge over UN/USA fighter aircraft I don't see many people flying them for long. Korea was an forgotten war so most people don't know about it, there was also an unofficial poll back when Normandy was announced with 828 votes in which Korea came last place (76 votes) and even Battle of France was more popular (131 votes), Jason also wanted to do Italy 1943 next which is second place in poll (243 votes) and afterwards Late eastern front which was voted 2x more compared to korea (185 votes), I also don't see much enthusiasm for korea on the russian forum. The poll : https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/65215-what-kind-of-module-would-you-like-to-see-after-bon/ Edited January 16, 2024 by ww2fighter20 changed link to poll to remove image 3
