Battle of the Bulge scenarios still work to some extent because the terrain is high enough but this is rather by lucky circumstances than design. And it wasn't intended to include Li-2 because it wasn't in the store back then. Anyway, I just exceeded their time limit for another week until 27th and added Li-2 to the list of products the codes are giving the discount to. We hope you'll like the plane! Thank you very much @Sneaksie! 16 hours ago, LukeFF said: Yes, that's correct. The first group of planes all have a single fuel gauge display and so the switch has to be rotated to switch from one given fuel tank to another. With the P-38, what you are doing is checking the state of the fuel level in the outer wing tanks. This is done by checking the status of two red lights. If they illuminate when the button is pressed the fuel level is low in those tanks. ------------------------------------------ Also, regarding some of the new features in career mode, I asked and received some clarification: There are indeed fewer enemy fighters on transport missions, but they will still show up. Enemy night fighters will appear on the following mission types: armed reconnaissance, intruder, and cargo para drop. So, for now you are safe if you are flying a nocturnal bombing mission. I see the red lights, but can't see any button being pushed in the P-38 as I can see in the spitfires. Is it a problem with the animation or that I'm blind as a mole?

So, I received a quick reply from our QA people:Clouds are not intended to be drawn lower than 500 metres and it will never work fine and look fine this way. It's only a reasonable restriction and there are no plans to remove it.

IckyATLAS Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Excellent improvement with the Li2. Very nice plane with paratroopers etc. Love it. Now comes the more negative stuff. Why no static version. It is a gain in performance as these multiple engine planes do gobble resources. You have the model. Just take the envelope (the outer skin) and you have it. Someone must explain to me why this is something that cannot be done or that would take so much effort that it is not worth it. This is really mysterious to me. 51 minutes ago, LukeFF said: So, I received a quick reply from our QA people:Clouds are not intended to be drawn lower than 500 metres and it will never work fine and look fine this way. I asked about this recently and the reply is that static aircraft are only built when someone on the inside needs a static version of the model for creating a campaign or career development. 1 2 1

All joking aside, I think those two aircraft are probably the most important ones to have a static version of, as: A) They were widely used for general cargo transport and were present at pretty much all the allied (including Soviet) airbases at one time or another. B) They're rather large, which makes them a bit of an eye catcher. It's easy to make an airfield feel alive with a couple of C-47s; fighters are harder to notice. 7
=621=Samikatz Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Having issues with actually launching the game since the update, anyone else have this problem? I have completely reinstalled the game, moved it between storage devices, updated all my drivers, etc. Nothing seems to work. The red bar at the bottom of the initial loading screen will complete as normal, then the game will freeze and eventually crash. Known issue?
jollyjack Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 If you have a fresh installation behaving like that i would suspect something external bugging you. It seems it hangs on the installation part. Dunno what you mean by 'moving between storage devices' however. Put the IL2_setup_Great_Battles.exe besides the installation folder, or delete the 'updates folder', the launcher will then check the installed files. Or worse: Firewall, permissions, Antivirus, Windows mess-up (run SFC.exe), or maybe a graphics driver issue.

How to litter the landing zones otherwise with countless gliders as in the real events? Absolutely. Endless rows of gliders and Dacotas, that's how more than a few of the BoN airfields looked like in the days/weeks leading up to D-Day. Although the C-47 (or Li-2) are different in that they were relatively common at almost every airfield throughout the entire part of the war currently covered by IL2, rather than a few hundred packed together on a single one.
Vortice Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 "Spitfire Mk.V, Spitfire Mk.IX, and P-38 aircraft have the fuel gauge button control implemented (P-38 has a remaining fuel reserve control button). The button is no longer pressed "automatically" from time to time, you have to press and hold the button to operate the fuel gauge (RShift + I by default)" This makes me very happy. Now I don't have to fly with one eye on the gauge waiting for it to activate. Thank you for that. 3 1
JG4_Moltke1871 Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 (edited) So now we know for some planes the work with the fuel gauge selector is still in progress and will get it in next or later updates. About that I have a question about the Breguet 14. Does it have also a mechanic like that? The fuel gauge shows the full 260 litres capacity but the fuel indicator shows maximum 125 litres until the volume gets lower. Below the gauge are 3 buttons…? Just curious ? FuriousMeow Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 Was this a more difficult fix than I thought it'd be? QMB itself the scheme is set for the entire flight. For AQMB though only player gets the paintscheme set for the entire flight.

Which I believe is historically incorrect. At least during the airdrops in the Netherlands (1940) the german paratroopers only carried pistols. There heavier weapons where dropped in containers together with the troops. 1 1

IckyATLAS Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 I have a terrible doubt. Is the Li2 flyable?. In the introduction video we see the pilot in the cockpit, the gunner positions etc.. But when I open a quick mission the plane is not visible. Only as AI plane I can access it and make it fly. AM I missing something here?
BlitzPig_EL Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 Of course it's flyable. I have put it in a couple of my old DF missions, and have flown it myself. Even managed to skip bomb a ship with it.

That's true. I did now that it was a collector item, but was convinced I had it bought long ago. And you are right, after going to the store my surprise I had not bought it. That's done now and I can fly it. This is an excellent example of what happens when you slowly let the community fade. I always bought all the items as they came in to support the devs, and was convinced I had done it, but no and that's the first time. So I checked for the rest and no all fine it was just the Li2 missing or the last item in the collector plane list.

Skycat1969 Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 The manual fuel selector switch is an inconvenience for me TBH. I fly in VR with a simple joystick, and the automatic selector worked for my purpose. Now I have to find a workaround. Any chance the next update could also include an option to disable the new manual indicator selection feature? (Or put another way, to enable automatic selection as a 'cheat'?
Skycat1969 Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 Update: Okay, I mapped the new bind to Voice Attack and it works better than I anticipated. I admit the new feature is an improvement more than an inconvenience. Question: What is happening in the P-38 when I activate RSHIFT+I ? I see two red lights come on but I don't understand what they mean.

ACG_Dickie Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Has anyone noticed a drop in frame rates since the last patch? I have VR and had a stable 58-60 locked in so no ghosting. After the patch I am getting about 50-55, and that ghosts fast moving aircraft. I don't know if it's the patch, I can just say it's happening since I updated.
Argosafe Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Yes. I was getting mid 60's, now it's 5 to 10% lower.... It doesn't spoil things, but that old "more FPS is better" myth kicks in nonetheless.
Customizer171 Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Looks like the problem with enemy ai aircrafts going vertical until they stall is back in quick missions!
keithbriscoe99 Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Maybe a dumb question, but sorry I'm still getting reintroduced to combat sims: I have only BoStalingrad, via Steam. Am I likely on the latest version or do I need to purchase one of the more recent ones like Bodenplate or Normandy? Which I do plan to do as soon as I see even a modest sale. Thanks.
