Luse, do you always work in your socks? Or are you trying to keep the crane clean?

I have a similar set up, but with the Xwinds pedals and CH throttle. Both I got used for very reasonable prices. Keep your eyes peeled.

I'm currently building a modular cockpit based around an Ikea Poang chair. It has to be portable so that's the main reason I went for the Poang; it's light and also reasonably cheap to use as a basis to work around and modify. The seat has integrated cabling returning to a project box for easy connection to the PC and amp. There are a couple of Buttkicker Mini LFE's attached to the base of the chair. The HOTAS panels are detachable.

I still have to complete the pieces for the rudder pedals.

That’s how it all starts ?. Then all of a sudden, you find yourself with multitude of controllers and dedicated cockpit(s)

Pretty much this. Check your Craigslist periodically and you’ll find reasonable options.

Ikea can be great!! I've modded a few things around the house with Ikea bits and pieces.

Was going to wait until I'd finished the rudder pedal assembly before posting but whilst I'm here ...

I will be filling and sanding today. Still waiting on a few bits to arrive before I can complete though.

Once the 4 main pieces are done (2 HOTAS panels and the 2 rudder pedal panels) I will time how long it takes to assemble / disassemble - current reckoning is 3 - 4 minutes each but we'll see.

I finally gave in and constructed a general simpit from the Monstertech kits. I'm mostly just into DCS and IL-2 (and flying circus), and don't really do much civ/MSFS. So I've gone with a combat sim setup with centre stick.

I've tried a variety of setups in the past including desk mounts, chair mounts, desktop etc. Had an Obutto about 10 years ago back when I was young and childless too, although gave up sims for a while in between due to having no spare time. In the end I wanted a pit again and decided on the Monstertech for the great flexibility it has. I'm always changing things up so its good I can adjust or add and remove things when needed.

Managed to source the car seat second hand for only $150, although may upgrade to a better quality "Wider" seat in the future.

Took about a week to construct and adjust, part time fitting in around work etc. Finally I can say I'm happy with my setup and don't have any more plans for upgrade!

Hello every one just finished my pit the last part to be installed was the throttle from iron mechanic also have rudder pedals from Slaw and was lucky to get a KG13 stick and base from BRD be for he stopped production thanks to all of them for there marvellous controllers.

This started of as a FW190 A8 pit but the FW190 throttle was hard to find and myself and my friend started to fly the  Me110 more and will fly Ju88 C6 when it is released, so decided on a twin throttle plus the use of a thrust master MFD with small screen this is good for squad commands and the small screen has Graphix card info on it. So my pit would probably look more like the FW P.II if the war dragged on and it was ever made ? so sorry puritans for this effort :) big thank you to J2_SteveF for the MK108 cannon switch and spare KG13 . right hope the photos work .

After fitting the new pedals I figured I'd give the pit a face-lift with some blackboard paint. It stinks and I might be high but it looks good. ?

While idly looking for a height-adjustable floor-mounted joystick base I came across many weird and wonderful solutions for securing the standard office chair (on wheels). So I thought I'd share my very simple solution that works flawlessly. The chair's rotational issue is dealt with by virtue of my thighs being pressed against the side consoles.
The floor plates are screwed directly through the carpet into the floorboards but a separate base-plate could be used instead. :)

After 4 years I unpacked my equipment and was using my desk for work and flying.  That didn't last long and recycled some leftover shelves, replaced with x52 with a Virpil stick and repurposed my old 55" instead of going with VR.  I like McMurdo's setup and will eventually build a closet around this setup to reduce the noise as well as a redesigned base.

@jskibo Your set up looks like the sim pits made by Viperwing for use with a very expensive VR headset.

So far they have cockpits for F16, F18 and F35. https://viperwing.com/

Just getting back into Flight sims and here is my set up, unfortunately I share the box room (office) with the wife and have to keep setting up and taking apart the set up so she can work lol

Looking to Santa to get me a Stream Deck XL to use instead of the keyboard, hopefully this will help with button pressing whilst flying in VR

Also seriously need to sort cable management out soon lol ?

Made som modifications to my pit.

Ordered a Virpil Mogoos T-50CM2 base and stick to replace my warthog. Printed an adapter from thingiverse and used 20x40 profile in my stack to attach it. A 40x40 hole in the floor of the pit made a stable fixing point.

Very nice! Like the German style rudder pedals.  Must take a bit of wiggling to get into the seat.

Love the huge Trim wheel that is located on the lower right hand side of the picture ?

Here's mine... I used to have an Obutto setup but it was just too... limiting, now I can use the desk for work + general PC use + gaming again.

Edit to add info + new picture to show the rest of the wall as it's all plane art :).

Chair is an Ikea Ljangfall without the castors.

Desk is a primecables crank-adjustable standing desk frame + I had a local woodworker make me a slab from a tree and stain it, front is a live edge (but subtle enough that my mounts fit).

Foxx Mounts + Virpil WarBRD/MT50CM1 + Virpil CM3 Throttle.
MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals

At this point my setup is 'finished' -- the only thing I'd like to do is paint the MFG Pedals black/graphite... will look up the best way to do it and take my time.

Here's my own current home cockpit setup. I built this by buying a chair on ebay which is meant to be used in a van, then building a wooden frame around it. The chair is bolted to the plywood base, it's very secure and definitely isn't going anywhere. I am using a Virpil throttle, a T16000m stick and thrustmaster rudder pedals, a thrustmaster throttle quadrant for radiators and mixture with 3d printed and spray painted knobs. I did this to make them feel very different to each other in VR. Also a USB button box that was meant for iRacing but I use with IL-2. I have to use AutoHotKey scripts to make it do what I want. In particular the switches that can latch up or down need AHK to get them to press keys when latched up then the same keypress when pushed down again, these are used for landing gear and bomb bay door toggles. I have a trackball, since I find this easier to use in VR, and a wireless keyboard. I added a numpad style device since this is good for pressing certain keys without taking the headset off.

Hello everyone

I have gone through this entire cockpit build topic and really enjoyed seeing everyone’s setup!

I was a frequent user of the original version of IL 2 and have just purchased the most recent version.

Here is my pit which I built from 2015-17.  Even though it’s a P-51D MIL pit I do have Air Manager gauges for the MIL & CIV P-51, T-6, P-40 and C-172.  By adding or removing a few control devices I can make the MIL pit work reasonably well for the planes I listed. It was initially built for FSX/P3D with plans for a future combat sim and now with IL2 installed I’ll start getting my controllers setup.

Ed
