VadimOsovsky Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Hi @Blorg! Any plans to release the app on iOS?
Blorg Posted August 2, 2022 Author Posted August 2, 2022 Yes there are plans! But I will wait until I am closer to version 1.0. Developing for Android and Windows at the same time is enough Hopefully not too long to go (a few months)
ross607 Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Hey @Blorg Only just discovered your app this week and I've been playing IL-2 for a while! Totally blown away by it, they have made such a difference to how I fly already. They look so good, loving setting up the dials for each plane! Apologies if this has already been asked, I was wondering if oil temp gauges and fuel gauges were on your roadmap to implement at some point in the future? I think these are the only two critical ones I feel like I’m missing. Regardless, amazing job with these… keep up the great work! ? 1
Nadelbaum Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 (edited) @ross607Water temps are done, oil temps are next (if I remember well), not sure about fuel gauges. If you use Discord you should join the Il-2 Dials Discord channel to stay on top of progress. Link to Discord is in the OP. Edited August 17, 2022 by Nadelbaum 2

That's good news about the oil temps. I'll follow progress on Discord. Cheers!
Blorg Posted August 18, 2022 Author Posted August 18, 2022 (edited) Hey thanks @ross607. Water temp and a new layout system are in testing just now and I have started to work on oil temps. There will be a few temperature dials to wrap up that aren't strictly oil or water and then I'll be polishing up for a bit and sorting any existing bugs. I'm not sure when I'll be doing fuel but probably is the next major update after the temps. Thanks for the interest If anybody is wanting the water temps just go to the links in the OP. I usually do a week's testing with those on the discord before announcing here but it is looking good so far. Edited August 18, 2022 by Blorg 3
Rafcio Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 (edited) Hey@BlorgThe temperature indicators look great. I appreciate the other changes introduced in the new version. Thank you very much for your work. One note. On both Android devices that I use after turning on Typhoon Mk. Ib the application is not working. Edit. Where is the water temperature indicator in Dora? This engine, although it does not look like, is liquid-cooled. ? Edited August 19, 2022 by Rafcio 1
Blorg Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 (edited) Aah, I don't have the Dora so I assumed it was like the rest of FW 190s, I will add this to the next fix release. Thanks for the report I'll also look in to the Typhoon destroying everything. This is why we test! Edited August 19, 2022 by Blorg
Blorg Posted August 20, 2022 Author Posted August 20, 2022 I've found why the Typhoon was crashing the app, I had missed adding the layout UI handle buttons to the boost dial for it, good catch @Rafcio! I also added the water temp to the Dora, you'll need to update me if that's working. I'll build new versions and update the download pages and the beta branch on the Play Store. Great job!
Blorg Posted August 21, 2022 Author Posted August 21, 2022 Client version 0.6c on itch.io fixes server client info mismatch. Updating Android beta branch too. 1
HotPursuit Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 (edited) Hey Blorg Really enjoying the latest version, thanks. I noticed the manifold pressure gauge (ata) on the Me 410 A-1 is rotated 90 degrees anti clockwise. I'm not sure if this was the case on earlier versions or not. Have you ever flown that plane in our game? The indicator is thus mounted in the airplane on the instrument panel. It is important to reproduce exactly what we have on the screen, because sometimes it is not possible to read the exact indication and we only rely on the position of the instrument pointer. Therefore, these types of indicators are even found on the screens of modern today's aircraft. There is no time to read the number expressed digitally, but we are able to read e.g. the pointer is vertical, i.e. everything is ok. 1 1
Blorg Posted August 23, 2022 Author Posted August 23, 2022 Thanks @HotPursuit I thought it would be fun to spin the dial, I actually never noticed until it was nearly too late! I created a bug doing it too, the first test release all the German manifold needles were spun 90 degrees, instead of just the ME 410. Cool 1 2
Blorg Posted September 3, 2022 Author Posted September 3, 2022 Release! Version 0.6 Water Temperature update looks stable, no terrible reports for a week XD https://dellywelly.itch.io/il-2-dials-serverhttps://dellywelly.itch.io/il-2-dials-client-windows Android beta branch has been promoted to main, so get ready to update the server if you were not on the beta testing branch! Happy Flying! 3
jokerBR Posted September 11, 2022 Posted September 11, 2022 Greetings Blorg, how are you? I've updated to the latest version and noticed that the client doesn't close anymore when I press ESC. I have to Alt+F4. Is this the new default behavior? Thanks for keeping on improving this gem, have a nice weekend.
Blorg Posted September 11, 2022 Author Posted September 11, 2022 Hey @jokerBR, I'm great thanks Yes that's the new default behaviour because I got feedback saying it was annoying! Perhaps there is a half way house where it shows a pop up, "do you want to quit?". This could also close all the windows if you are using the multi-window feature. I'll have a think, thanks for the feedback Oil Temps are going well btw :p 3
=LD=G0rgonP0rnstar Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 First off, thank you so, SO much for making this application for us all to use. Now for my question, and sorry if this has been asked before, but are there any plans to add the Entente air bubble slip indicators, like those found in the Bristol F.2B, for Flying Circus? 1

Hey G0rgon, looks like you landed somewhere! I don't speak for Blorg but I do not believe he plans on developing ANY FC gauges in the near future. He may be able to add a slip gauge from a WWII bird (as all the FC gauges are from WWII) but I believe he is spending all his time on temps at the moment. CosmiC10R Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 (edited) Dang this is cool. I got it working to my Samsung fold . so nice to be able to glance at the dials without having to look down with TrackIR. Thanks so much for this!! Edited October 24, 2022 by CosmiC10R 1
Blorg Posted October 24, 2022 Author Posted October 24, 2022 Oooh very nice, good to know it is working on the new fancy phones My pleasure. A little update for those not on the discord. I am still working on the oil temperatures but it has got very complicated! Outlet, inlet, cylinder head, carb. temp! Also I have spent nearly 3 weeks looking for the FW 190s temperature value and still don't have it But onwards we go, I will not give up! It might just be a while yet. If anyone has noticed some water radiators wibbling about nilly willy, I have fixed this bug, it will be fixed for the next release, sorry about that! Peace 2 1
SittingDuckDafug Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 I recently stumbled across your app. I've been looking for something like this since I started the game. You are doing a great job. love it. are you planning fuel and landing gear gauges too?
CosmiC10R Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 (edited) i hid the hud because of it and now i just did my first flight with just instruments in the Stalingrad campaign. Works great. My biggest issue was getting it to connect. Then I realized my phone's wifi was off... sigh... lol.. then it worked great. If it doesnt connect I just restart the app on the phone side and it connects fine... just awesome Edited October 24, 2022 by CosmiC10R

Blorg Posted October 26, 2022 Author Posted October 26, 2022 Looks awesome @CosmiC10Rand if it makes you feel any better, I often don't realise my WiFi isn't on and I think the whole app is broken :S The nilly willy needle bug does indeed have a name. @PatricksJitter 2

Blorg Posted November 1, 2022 Author Posted November 1, 2022 Lovely, very similar to my setup, no longer will old phones be useless! Nice map tablet too ?
LF_John_Wolf Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 hello and congratulations for the app. Is there an option to be able to save the positions that we have set to our liking for each plane? Or every time a plane is opened, the serial configuration comes?

Each time you shut down the positions are saved, each plane has its own of course so you need to set up any new plane but once set its all good! 1 1
Patricks Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 (edited) Sorry, in Windows but I assumed all versions worked this way. Asking Blorg now on Discord.. and he said yes, Android should act the same! Here is the Discord invite, best to ask there for help anyway - https://discord.gg/rZMHTpFe Edited November 5, 2022 by Patricks 2
CosmiC10R Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 (edited) Android does act the same... i got confused why it reset one time but then i realised I was in the 1941 IL2 and not the 42 one from my campaign. It also saves the locations on both phones Im using so the right dials show up on each phone each time I load in. I spent some time moving the dials around a bit too to help with Nav as Im not using any map or hud anymore. Map and instrument navigation only which is really fun. VadimOsovsky Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 IOS release please... I don't have an android phone or tablet lying around...
Blorg Posted November 12, 2022 Author Posted November 12, 2022 IOS would indeed be nice, but the license costs money, if I manage to complete the desktop and android, I will look to do iOS, but probably will do a kickstarter or something to cover the license cost. Thank you for the interest 1
CosmiC10R Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 Spent some time making a dash for the phones so it looks a little less like 3 random pieces of wood stacked on each other. Turned out pretty decent. Puts the dials up nice and high and interestingly they are a similar size to ingame. 4
CosmiC10R Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 im guessing an update is required for the c47? first phone runs ok off the a20 settings but the second one seems to overlay a coolant temp dial that i cant get rid of. 1

C47 came out 12 hours ago, think Blorg has his hands full with what is already out and running.... would not look for C47 gauges in the near future. For now we need to test and see what 5.03 broke... Blorg Posted November 23, 2022 Author Posted November 23, 2022 It isn't so hard to add support for a new plane usually, it might not have custom dials but unless there is something brand new, it shouldn't be too hard (*fingers crossed). The update seems to have broken a few things indeed. This oil temperature update is really kicking my ass though, so many differences between how the planes calculate their temperatures. 6 weeks to work out the FW 190! 7 hours ago, CosmiC10R said: im guessing an update is required for the c47? first phone runs ok off the a20 settings but the second one seems to overlay a coolant temp dial that i cant get rid of. Try typing "clear prefs" in to the IP Address field to see if it gets rid of that coolant dial ( that shouldn't be there!). I'll have some time Saturday to see if I can perhaps just work on the bugs to cover the update and I'll push that separately to the oil update which is some way off . 1
CosmiC10R Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 All good. It isnt a demand or anything. I wasnt sure if it was user error. Ive been in career mode with russian planes mostly so havent run into this. The main phone works with the 5 main dials for Nav so i can still get around Ill fiddle with it a bit today. I believe there is something new with the fuel gauges? But yeah, i realize how frustrating updates can be from some of other games ive modded for so thanks for all you do. I really didnt realize how dependant i had become on it because it feels so natural now. I did the first mission in a career in the c47 last night and it was a boring flight to carentan only to nearly get shot down while landing. That thing can take a beating lol 1
Blorg Posted November 24, 2022 Author Posted November 24, 2022 The recent update has broken a few things, especially manifold pressure. Hopefully I can get a fix for this before the end of the weekend. Damn game updates! 2
CosmiC10R Posted November 24, 2022 Posted November 24, 2022 (edited) I did notice it but assumed it was from my other issues and it being the c47. More of an fyi because its interesting is the phones really hated me selecting any plane but the last american one when in the c47 I think its the p51. If i selected other ones it would not allow me to set dials in place. I could move them and resize them but when i would try to back out they would go wonky again and the manifold pressure one would be upside down and large. But the hurricane one works fine with rpm etc and lets me set them properly in the c47 but as you say manifold isnt. So im using the p51 setting and generally its fine. In any case that goes away when and if you get time to get the c47 setting in but its interesting in that the app responds very tightly to the info being fed from game obviously. The other strange one is i switched to window mode and had all the green lights on both phones but when the mission launched the dials didnt pop in. It sat at waiting for mission start. So if anyone is having that issue and are in windowed mode it might be the issue as it immediatly came back when i went back to fullscreen. Not sure if it was one off and windowed works for others. Edited November 24, 2022 by CosmiC10R
Blorg Posted November 26, 2022 Author Posted November 26, 2022 There will be strange behaviour with the c47 at the moment because I don't have it in the dropdown plane list on the client, so you can kin of override what plane to show. If you are flying a supported plane, it locks it down and you can't change other plane layouts. It is kind of good in a way that at least we can see the c47 kind of works by using another plane's layout. Anyhoo, I have some time today to work on this, fingers crossed! 1 1
