Hello guys !

I'm about to install a fresh new PCIe SSD for Windows & apps in my rig and willing to go on a fresh install rather than cloning the old system from the previous system drive.

I did a quick search but was unable (or probably not willing to spend enough time ?) to find the correct answers to the following questions :

- what files should I copy to restore my game settings (GFX, keybinds or any kind of personal preferences) ?

- is it possible to copy the whole game directory to the new system&apps drive to avoid downloading the whole game again and save some bandwidth, server load and carbon footprint ?

Thanks in advance for your kind help.

I'm in the process of doing exactly that right now. I just reinstalled windows and i had to convert my gaming drive from MBR to GTP, so i had to move everything off that drive to do that.

I'll let you know how it worked out soon....or IF it worked.?

....another 450GB to transfer. ?

Edit:  I'm an idiot.? In order to speed up the transfer rate, i sprayed the M.2 SSD with a compress air bottle and the thing locked up. I hope the SSD is not dead, but i think I lost the game install. :scratch_one-s_head:?

Edit#2.

I got the SSD running again and it looks like everything is still there.

I'll let you know if my game works after i finish the transfer.

Folders: Input (keys and HOTAS settings) and Career (pilot's career if you fly them).

Skins, 4k template plane file, mods, controllers input, scripted campaign and missions.

Copy of you startup.csf just incase.

Also make a printscreen of your Nvidia Controlpanel could be very handy.

@PA_Willy@Dutch2 thanks for your inputs, I'll also keep a copy of the whole game folder just in case.

@Jaws2002 I'll try some tricks and let you know if I succeeded

This Gigabyte ssd has a solid chunk of copper as heatsink, so when you transfer large files, it heats up after a while and then the transfer rate drops.

I just tried to help it. ? it worked ok until i tilted the bottle and a jet of cold liquid came out and hit the SSD directly.

Then the blody thing locked up halfway through the transfer.

I had to hard reboot twice for the SSD to even show up in windows.

Ultimately the transfer stopped halfway through and i had about 400GB on one drive and 400 on the other.

Luckily, the files were all there.

My game didn't start because i forgot some files on the other drive.:scratch_one-s_head:

I realized that after i downloaded two thirds of the game.

 I'm all sorted up now.

In the end, the windows reinstal and cleanup boosted my game considerably.

I won't do that compress air bottle "trick" anymore.?
