[BUG!] View settings reset everytime I respawn (ver. 4.505b)

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow Pilots,

I have encountered a very frustraiting bug after update 4.505. As usual, I fly out my Bf109k4 on the Berloga dueling server. The first time I spawn in, everything is good. My view settings are the way i have set them up, the zoomfactor is as it should be and the pilots headplacement aswell. Tho after i get shot down and respawn, IL2 automatically overwrites my custom viewfiles. After that, I have to replace it with my old settings again in: IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\LuaScripts\snapviews. This loop continues. Weirdly, it only happens after I got shot down and leave the spectator mode. When i quit the mission manually (eject the aircraft) and then respawn, the view stays as it should. I already DELETED THE ENTIRE GAME and REINSTALLED it, because I couldn't find the answer. Sadly NOTHING CHANGED.

Here you can see the new snapviews, which the game automatically adds. It deletes my old files and just puts in new ones EVERY TIME I RESPAWN:

That's the old SVC file which i modified to my personal preferences and which gets deleted (luckily I made a backup of all of them so I can replace them again):

grafik.png.f098f6c39763182c30a8f6f558a351a2.png

And that's the new file which gets added automatically when respawning in the shot-down plane:

Comparing the two, I noticed that the game only changes the last column of the file, which is (I think) responsible for the FOV (zoomfactor).

Link of GIF which shows the after I respawn (small FOV / resetted zoomfactor):

I hope you can help me with this ?

I wish you a good start in 2021.

@-DED-Rapidus it happenED to all planes! ?

I fixed it myself. Took very long tho for me to figure it out. Solution is quite simple but makes me question even more things?

Right click -> Properties:

grafik.png.aa089cda1595af0bb3eeb38580925621.png

I just ticked this arrow for all files in the snapview-folder, which denies the interference by IL2 it seems -> The files won't get automatically replaced anymore and stay as they should.

BUT now, when i set a new default view, the game remembers it but DOESN'T change it in the actual file! Like WTF. The file now stays the same eventho it should be different!! It's really weird.

"EDIT: It only stays that way until the match is over. After respawning, the settings from the file apply again. So not that weird actually. To change the default view i have to untick the arrow, change to desired and then click it again."

Anyways i call fixed?.

Hope that this helps others with that unusual problem o7.

THX anyways for replying that fast. I am looking forward to post more things on this forum!

See you in the skies

Unfortunately, setting the "read-only" checkbox does not solve the main problem, no background recording apps or joystick keymapper, trackIR where you need to press F9 and F10?

Posted (edited)

@-DED-Rapidus actually yeah, my opentrack has two keybinds on F8 and F10. Also my recording is on F9. Is that a problem?

@-Six-SkillerX, Maybe, then let's take a closer look ) under what conditions the snapview file is overwritten with zeros. I checked on my system, respawn passes normally, the camera is in place, as I set up for myself.

Posted (edited)

@-DED-Rapidus The conditions are as usual. I had the same keybindings before 4.505 and had no problem. The exact moment when the files get switched is right when I respawn with the shot-down plane (after leaving spectator mode). F9 saves the last 30 seconds of permanent recording (nvidia shadowplay), F8 centers the opentrack and F10 disables the opentrack. I don't click any of these  buttons in the timeperiod.

@-DED-Rapidus to proof it, I unticked the read-only option again. All keybindings (F8,F9,F10) got moved far away. Same procedure as before aand:

Same problem again (all 0.000).. For now i have to keep the arrow ticked

Forgot to ask you, clean installation of IL-2? or where are the modifications present?

Posted (edited)

@-DED-Rapidus As clean as it can get. I was so frustrated that I deleted the entire game and reinstalled it from steam (today). What I don't know for sure is if every file got uninstalled. I don't know where they are all spreaded on the drive. What i can say is that the main big 46GB IL2 folder got replaced by a new one.

It's located at the standard place for steam games on my drive.

I've got the same issue in FC flying the Camel in MP. Head forward view reverts to 60 FOV (not sure if that's default?) from my custom view of 79 after respawning from spectator mode. No mods, not on steam, clean install, trackir. Only began to happen after 4.505b.

@ST_Catchov do you have this problem with every plane aswell or just with the Camel? Can you take a look into your snapviews folder, maybe you have the exact same problem as me. Would be good because we find a solution faster.?

@-DED-Rapidus what i noticed aswell is that the game doesn't use the "defaults"-folder anymore (IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\LuaScripts\snapviews\defaults). Usually (as I remember it to be) when I deleted one of the SVC files from the snapviews folder, it got automatically replaced by the one from the defaults folder (before 4.505). This doesn't happen anymore aswell.

Now, a deleted SVC file gets replaced by something else. This:

grafik.png.9dbd1d112c00bffa1a8532fc4669c3d1.png

and thats the one it should be (the file from the defaults folder):

You mean there are other planes ?  Yes I've only tested it with the Camel. But I'll check out other kites later on.

Just so we're on the same page, it only happens after death when respawning from spectator mode right?  If you don't die and just finish flight there's no problem.

yeah, it only happens like that. Check your snapviews folder, sort them by date and a new file should appear right when you respawn. If thats the case, you have the same issue ?

@-DED-Rapidus Just to confirm, when testing on your system, you did so after dying and respawning from spectator mode?

Sorry bit messy @-Six-SkillerX but the camel snap view file did revert to zero's like yours after respawn from spectate. I'll check other planes when I get a chance.

@ST_Catchov yeah... Looks like you have the same problem as I do. If you want to keep your zoom level you have to set up your FOV, save it as default and then change the SVC file midflight to "read only", before it gets set to 0 again. I don't think we will be able to find the solution to this bug anytime soon, so better block it. Btw an easy and fast way of making screenshots is using "snipping tool", which is preinstalled on every Windows computer ?

Judging by no-one else chiming in, I can't believe that only two of us have this issue? That seems pretty weird. Anyway, it's only zoom affected so I just pause trackir (F9), reset zoom and save (F10). Takes two seconds.

It's still annoying but. Hope Rapidus comes up with something.

Dear friends,

Another hotfix is on, hopefully it will maximize your quality of sim life in the New Year eve.

1. Saved zoom value in a cockpit snap view won't reset in multiplayer;

COOL!

Thanks @-DED-Rapidus  and @Sneaksie for getting onto this. :good:
