.I can't use Mission Editor at all... and playing same QMG missions over and over again gets pretty boring.

Is that Gaz AA Truck coming to  EMG? It sure would be nice. Or even better for both EMG's.

I would like to do some Partizan type missions behind enemy lines with that truck and later with that German Flak vehicle too. Plus defend airfields, railstations, harbors , columns Etc.

I know that you are busy with new planes and game updates, but if you ever have time...

Actually, i have owned Tank Cree since early acces, but only started to play it few weeks ago.

Anyways, i really like both EMG's. Than you for your hard work!

Yeah it would be nice to add the AAA trucks. Obviously this needs to be a separate class? What kind of mission types, only 'Defend' ?

They could be used to attack, ambush or intercept truck convoys, attack trains, seek and destroy enemy AAA trucks and artillery positions.

Attacking airfields and their facilities might prove rewarding for a player. :coffee:

Messed with a photog mission, put in extra stuff and a German flak truck as player. Alas only briefly tested it ... Laprino map:

@SYN_Vander

Sir,

I have (I think) just completed all the elements we need for the Lapino map. I thought I would have a go generating a mission to see if what I have done worked.

As soon as I launched the program I received an error "Failed to execute script TankCrew Missiongenerator".

The log file was empty.

I have attached the template and the modified json file (I know the name is incorrect, I have it stored that way for ease. I replaced maps.json with that file before I tried the test.)

I have guessed at the LANDSCAPE file as there is no named Lapino map in the folder?

Is there any chance you could have a look and see what I have done wrong please?

Thanks! Let me work on this a bit.

Making some notes here to provide feedback:

  • I see the Influence Zones are only small triangles, but they should cover the whole battle area. Now the program can't find any markers inside that area is my guess. I have defined them for 'A' and will remove the other fronts from the json file. You can add them again later.
  • The name of the influence zone should be area_allied or area_axis (note lowercase)
  • Typo: Lines _A instead of Lines_A
  • In the json file there were 5 fronts defined, but in the template only 4 (A to D) I have for now only enabled A
  • Only front 'A' had borders defined, but each front should have borders (4 icons) in there
  • Helpers group 'helpers_smoke' was missing. I have added a bunch of random locations
  • Helpers group 'helpers_planes' was missing. This defines where the AI planes will start. I have added them.
  • Helpers group 'helpers_patrols' was missing. This defines where the AI planes can patrol. I have added them.
  • Zis5 name was spelled wrong, it should be the label name but there was no way for you to know that. (ZIS 5 72-K)
  • There were no AI planes defined in the .json. The 'attackers' are mandatory. I have copied them from the other map.

I managed to generate a mission!

Here is the adapted template and json file so you can continue testing & tweaking:

@SYN_Vander Thank for looking and updating.

Glad to see I got the landscape files correct at least!

I left the planes out being selfish I suppose. I don't like AI planes attacking the tanks as they can too deadly I find, and it is a Tank engagement mission after all!

I will generate some test missions with my squad tomorrow (Saturday) and let you know how it goes.

How do you specify the influence areas? I could not see any parameters for size?

Posted (edited)

Right click and select 'Edit Influence Area Boundary'. Then you can select the individual points by double clicking and then you can drag them. You can add new points by CTRL+left click and use DEL to delete. See the mission editor manual I guess :)

just checked and it is in there....

Ran 4 mission tests with my squad last night and all worked well.

I added quite a few more cross country routes. I will forward the template file in due course.

As a result I have some requests....

Functionality Request

Title: Remove Auto Mission Rotation Upon Objective Completion

Request: Please would you consider either removing the auto mission end upon satisfaction of the objective criteria or at least have it an option defined by a tick box, "Auto End Mission"

Reason: We completed the objectives last night according to the mission and the mission auto rotated to the next one although there were still targets we could have had go at. We would like the option to roll the mission ourselves.

Functionality Request

Title: Fog of War

Request: Please would you consider adding an option to have icons automatically removed when the mission is generated (by setting description to NOICON instead of Vehicle) call it either "Remove Icons" or "Fog of War" perhaps?

Reason: I believe that game play would be much improved by the uncertainty of where enemy units are as you head to the objective. Having this setting built into the mission would help squads / groups using the generator for their missions prevent the enemy knowing where they are. All they would have to work on would the the location of the objective.

Many thanks for your continued work on this excellent utility.

@SYN_Vander

Just had a look at one of the missions I generated and can not find a "Mission End" MCU?

So is the auto end a feature of using the Objective MCU and therefore out of your hands?

Thinking back to my missions the objective is just managed by an "On Killed" event updating a count or by a flag being taken.

I think I should withdraw that feature request?

AH yes, indeed. You have to set the timeout value on the server (or your machine if you are hosting). It's not set in the mission.

Your IL2 game folder should be set to: image.png.c4d9cec24bb9082532f59667956636e4.png

not your mission folder

Salute Fellow "Tankies"

Please find below the files required for the additional Lapino map for use with the Easy Mission Generator.

This is a "beta" addition if you like. I have run some test missions with it but Syn_Vander would like to test it a bit more before including it in an official release.

Extract the attached files into your Tank Crew Mission Generator "Template" directory.

The extracted files also includes a file called maps.json

You will need to move this file up a level into the same location as the .exe is located.

I strongly suggest you back up your maps.json file before doing this just in case.

If you encounter any issues please post back in this thread.

Just to confirm, that this has NOT been defined as an official update YET (however, all work has been done in consultation with SYN_Vander) but if there are no problems it has the potential to be included in a future release.

Cheers

Hello tankers,

by the EMG unfortunately, it is not possible to load a different vehicle profile - what could be the problem?

Kind regards and good luck

Must admit I have never tried to force a skin in EMG. I will try it out and post back.

@SYN_Vander do have experience of it working?

Posted

I don't have it listed as a bug. But be aware you can only select custom skins that you have installed yourself. I can't look 'into' the GTP files.

Posted

I have just tried it and it does not seem to work for either the player tank (in a dogfight - not a problem because you can pick it anyway) or the enemy units (if you especially want them to be wearing a certain skin)

As a footnote I did test it on the new Lapino map but should not think that would make a difference (something wrong in my set up?)

Just tested it and I can confirm it doesn't work. I found this in my code LOL:

#TODO: assign platoon_skin

I'll add it to the backlog. Will soon be fixed with next release; hope to add Lapino as well then.

Been trying to get this working, and the game crashes whenever I have Lapino set in winter months, works fine in every other month.
Very odd.

Posted

@French_Fungible The only time I tried to change the date to a winter date the mission loaded with summer map but tanks left white tracks (as they do in winter).

There may not be a check for this?

The Lapino map does work all fine when left with the default dates.

Perhaps this is something on the job list for the future.
