I was sure it was a "KATE" , Anyway if anyone build a Kate, Swordfish, Devastator, Barracuda, Beufighter. And want to sell it I am interested

Weathering with Oils and Streaking Effects is done and I also added a few chips with a metal colour. Didn't want to go overboard, though. Next step: semi-gloss coat to protect all that, then I can move to completing the model and getting it on its legs.

Looking Very nice Dora thus far. Well done Thor I think the weathering is spot on.

The Dora looks incredible.  Well done Thor!

Finished scribing the fuselage of the S.5 and gave it a rub down with some artist oils to check their appearance and the overall shape. A few bits need tidying up but pretty happy with it so far.

That looks.... heavy...

Fuz is Almost 3 pounds so far and I still need a steel rod to go through the center line because of the weight to hold wings and engines on later.

Believe it or not this puppy is hollowed out too?

So, the Lady has been put on her legs, given her teeth and a nosejob.

Which leaves finishing the exhaust pipes and adding the exhaust stains, but I'll leave the latter for the weekend since I need to do that very carefully (don't want to ruin my work).

Yep!

Sanded all the detail off the S.5's wings and had another go.  They looked too much like they were fabric covered, when in reality they were made from ply.  The battens were made from strips of tape then the whole wing got cast in resin so it was easy to handle.  One of the dud castings will make a good test dummy for building the assembly jig.

I get a weird sense of vertigo looking at it from this angle

Ladies (?) and Gentlemen, may I present you my latest? Focke Wulf Ta 152 C by Hobby Boss with Quickboost corrections and an Eduard PE set (mostly for the cockpit).

Sadly the Aerobonus pilot figure I had in mind for a small base doesn't work, it's anatomically "awkward" to place in anything but a Bf 109. So I'll probably just get a wooden base and add something like a concrete airfield (akin to what I did for my Ta 183).

New toy for my modeling table! ?

I just finished making the motor hanger today. I made it from recycled materials I collected from a dead grass trimmer and a dead printer. Foot pedal speed control under the table.

With this rotary tool I can finally modify the egregiously inaccurated main firewall in my IL-2 kit... I hope to post progress pics from that soon but all of my free time has been consumed building this modeling table and other projects.

Lucky man!  You are going to love having that. ?

You can also use it like a sort of handheld lathe by sticking pieces to the end of one of your drill bits and shaping parts with files scrapers and emery paper.  I use mine a lot for that and have used it for everything from spinners to gun turrets.

And Thor, congratulations!   That is the nicest looking 152 I think I’ve ever seen.

Nice set up there 40.

For a moment I thought that was an IV bag setup possibly delivering needed caffeine on these hard modeling sessions lol.?

Wow! It is full of master modelers in here ...

I admire your masterpieces and I congratulate you on your mastery.

I tried to mess around with glue and paints a bit but alas, my results are light years away from your works!

Really very good !!!

Thanx to you all for your kind words , i’m not a serious model maker, just a little improvement from brushes to airbrush but still learning the correct use of acrylic paint , dilution, spray pressure , preshading, weathering etc. etc. and almost out of the box kits assembled and painted with semi-decent historical color accuracy and markings. I’m neither a rivet counter nor a Federal Standard or RLM  supervisor ? Just for fun !

@voncrapenhauser Yes M8, is a N1K Shiden-kai “George” in 1/72 scale , a very old kit from Hasegawa but still enjoyable to build.

I'm trying to get into modeling. I've "made" a few kits over the years but most were never finished or just left unpainted. I just bought an airbrush and a compressor so I'm gonna try and do a few models paint and all.

I'm gonna try my hand at modeling a T55 by Lindberg. It's cheap so if I mess up it's no big deal. I've read that Lindberg is pretty terrible quality and very low on detail so I'm gonna challenge myself to make it as details/realistic as possible. I'll post pics as soon as I get some.

Below is what it looks like out of the box pretty much. Looks more like a toy. I'm curious to see how my version will compare.

Also, if anyone has any tips for airbrushing I'd be grateful, never really used an airbrush for modeling before so it's all new to me.

Btw great models everyone.

This helped me when I started :

Got myself a plastic sheet like that and practice on it before going to the model.

Nice one Legioneod.  It wasn’t until I got a compressor about five years ago that I really began to enjoy making and began to finish things.  My only advice would be to thin your paint way way down and use rapid passes up close. ;)

Still working on the S.5.  The jig is helping for the main struts but they are only about 12mm long and fiddly as all heck.  I got some new info on the wings too and it turns out the upper surface was smooth and pretty much all radiator.  I’ll have to reduce the lines down until they are all but invisible under a silver top coat.

This is one pretty aircraft… Built at a time when the English designed worlds ugliest bomber fleet…

image.thumb.jpeg.221325e0b75aa8a9ec0c925a1ea8cc27.jpeg

If you don‘t know about it, you really can‘t see the radiators in the wings. If they just made the spars a tad stronger, they could have made without those cables. But I guess at the time, aircraft without lingerie hangers must have been inconceivable.

Cheers Zacharias, it really is lovely.  Nicer I think than the S.6.
The colour photo is the replica with the smaller engine.  I can never be quite sure what other differences there are between it and the original, apart from the modified nose panels and had to resist using it as a primary reference.   There’s currently an ongoing project to build a brand new one though to original specifications.  Hopefully it succeeds.  I would love to see one back in the air one day.

I agree, it is the nicer one.

You are right abot the photo, it s indeed a  replica. But even on the Lion powered ones from back then, it is hard to make ot the radiators. The wing ribs on the underside are somewhat visible. Is the wing underside conered with canvas and the upperside metal from the radiator?
