Pimax 5k+ and in-game Vr zoom

so today is the first day that i tried out the in-game vr zoom and it is unusable convergence is totally out and i almost see double, has anyone else with a pimax that uses normal fov have this problem ? and is there a fix for it ?

Hiya I don’t think this is headset specific as I have a HP reverb and also suffer from this issue. Although my understanding is that it has nothing to do with ‘zoom’  it’s the games IPD settings, it places your eyes too far apart so you see double of everything that is close to your face.   The Migato VR ‘mod’ was the only workaround for this issue as it allowed you to adjust the IPD in game to fix the image. However the mod has just been suspended by the devs so I don’t know what people like you and I are going to do now. The game was unplayable in VR with the double vision.

The game has support for adjusting software IPD setting.

It is referenced under the "Service" tab of controller settings.

+IPD = LShft+Numpad +

-IPD = LShft+ Numpad Enter

 

Although really this does more for adjusting the scale of the image than anything, but you can try and see if that helps any.

The Mod was not suspended by 1CGS, just the new rendering technique broke  the mod.

For fellow pimax users, if you want in game zoom to work as intended you need to enable parallel projections in Pitool.exe

If you cannot handle the fps hit with that setting then I'd suggest using your dominant eye when zooming.  

It's not ideal but we have dealt with worse before and honestly, this patch is a major milestone.  There is alot to love here.

Me too!

 

It's NOT about spotting at distance - it is about being able to identify a plane that is <1km away. I have a very difficult time doing that without 3dMigoto unless I get visual cues like flak, tracer fire, etc.

@dburne thanks for the tip but the ingame adjustment has no where near the adjustability I need to get my image looking right.

Maybe slightly... it is true that any rendering changes to the game break the mod. However, the 10+ page rant about the mod being a cheat forced the devs to get involved, forced the mod creator to remove his thread about it, and silenced the mod creator from discussing an upcoming version of the mod with the community. So best case scenario, the timetable for being able to enjoy the game in VR is completely unknown.

Once again the pancake pilot brigade comes into a VR thread and tries to derail it by baiting the VR community. That's the real story here and it's very sad. There are a whole bunch of anti-VR people frequenting the VR sub-forum and I really can't understand why. Some perception that VR is a fancy rich kids toy? Weird that some of those anti-VR people have rigs with 9900K's and 2080ti's...

Some people who spend a lot of money on something get hostile to people who spend it on other things, because they wrap up a big chunk of their sense of self in what they've purchased and assure themselves its the best possible thing. So they get hostile when they think someone might have better stuff than them. Like those guys who's entire personality is the brand of their truck, and they pay actual money for those calvin stickers peeing on other brands. It's those guys but for flight sims.

And a small but sad proportion of multiplayer gamers are just obsessed with finding reasons that anyone who beat them must have been cheating in some way. They never outgrew their twelve year old selves screaming homophobic slurs at people on Xbox live. It's conspiracy theorism for the even more emotionally stunted.

As a monitor player I hope you guys get some resolution (pun intended) to all this.

I don't think the answer is flinging poo at the guy.  He thought he found a hack and reported it.  That's not a terrible thing.  It was the rest of it I had a hard time with.  Im still hopefull for a broader understanding and acceptance from the players who don't fully understand the issue.  We sink or swim as a group.

guys E69_geramos109 has achieved noting other then getting the thread that the mod was posted on taken down, the mod will be back just like it is after every update we will just have to keep our ears to the ground as where to download if from once the mod has been updated to work with the new update

it's bad enough to even have to use any kind of zoom on a flight simulator/game. So not only the devs can't implement a proper smart scaling, like the one on another great f-16 only simulator, but they dont even care about removing the only tool that VR had to play the game online, which again, should not be needed in any simulator, imagine flying without zoom and be able to see things as it should be. It's unrealistic anyway because it's on a monitor, at least if it has to be unrealistic, make it unrealistically easier for everyone for spot and see, instead of unrealistically harder, because OF COURSE people will then search around for zoom, color changing software, contrast etc. fix and implement a good smart scaling and remove any kind of zoom.
